Use one compact PULSE M speaker by itself or pair two together for even bigger sound.

That means you can place it on a bedside table or kitchen counter and get rich, room-filling sound from almost any listening angle.

Works alone, but plays well with others

Looking for true stereo separation in a bigger space? Use two PULSE Ms together and pair them up in stereo. You can even add the PULSE SUB+ — it'll not only give you more bass, but also allow the PULSE M's amp to work more efficiently for clearer mids and highs. You can even use a pair as wireless rear surrounds with a Bluesound sound bar for immersive home theater.

Flexible streaming options

You'll connect this speaker to your home network via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, then set it up and control it with the free BluOS app. That gives you natively integrated access to 20+ music services, plus thousands of internet radio stations. Play your favorite songs on compatible speakers and streamers in multiple rooms around your home, with as many as 64 independent BluOS zones.

The app also lets you group speakers together, so the same song plays everywhere at once. Or choose different music for each room, all from the same app. In addition to app control, you can use AirPlay 2 or aptX® HD Bluetooth to stream to the speaker. It will also show up in your player list if you're using Roon (subscription required).

Add sources and 'phones

This speaker has a USB-A port for connecting a music-filled thumb drive and a 3.5mm dual analog/digital input for connecting a phone or other source with an aux cable. For discreet, detailed listening, you can use the dedicated headphone jack. Or, since it's got two-way Bluetooth, you can listen using compatible Bluetooth headphones.

Elegant, versatile design

The PULSE M's compact elliptical design with its wraparound fabric grille looks nice and unassuming and sounds great wherever you place it. You can also mount it on your wall with the optional WM230 wall bracket, or place it on an FS230 floor stand (both sold separately).

You'll probably mostly use your smartphone, tablet, or computer to control the PULSE M. But it's also got a sleek glass top panel with proximity-sensing touch controls, including five quick-touch presets.

Expand your BluOS wireless multi-room streaming music system

You can add other Bluesound components to additional spaces in your home — wherever you'd like to enjoy high-res music.

System Features

Pulse M: The Bluesound Pulse M is a wireless multi-room streaming speaker that employs a new Omni-Hybrid driver design and DSP smart amplifier to create a rich room-filling sound (60-20kHz frequency response) at nearly any listening angle.

  • Omni-Hybrid Driver Design: The new Omni-Hybrid driver design features an upfiring 5.25" woofer and two 0.75" tweeters mounted and offset at 45 degrees from each other to deliver an immersive 360 degree soundstage. A custom-designed acoustic reflector above the woofer diffuses unwanted sonic artifacts while directing the driver's higher frequencies out and away from the speaker.
  • DSP Smart Amplifier: The Omni-Hybrid Driver assembly relies on a meticulously engineered power supply and a DSP smart amplifier that produces 80 watts of power (50W x 1 Woofer + 15W x 2 Tweeters) to achieve real-time monitoring and control of frequency bandwidth, dynamic range and distortion to direct clear and rich audio from nearly any listening angle.

Applications: The Bluesound Pulse M is a versatile, full-range speaker that can be used in a variety of applications - including a single speaker setup, multiroom audio setup, 2ch stereo setup, or home theater setup. It can even be paired with Bluesound's wireless powered subwoofer.

  • Start with a single 2i speaker and add more to create a wireless multiroom audio system.
  • Two Pulse M speakers can be paired together for room-filling stereo sound.
  • Group two Pulse M speakers together with a Bluesound Pulse soundbar (sold separately) and create a wireless surround sound system with dedicated rear channels.
  • You can also add a Bluesound Pulse Sub+ wireless powered subwoofer (sold separately) to a single Pulse M speaker or a stereo pair of Pulse M speakers for bigger bass response.

BluOS Wireless High-Resolution Multiroom Audio: The Bluesound Pulse M wireless speaker is part of the BluOS wireless high-resolution multiroom audio eco-system - consisting of powered speakers, soundbar speakers, amplifiers, players, and hard-drives. The BluOS wireless high-resolution multiroom audio ecosystem uses your home's wired or wireless network to connect multiple Bluesound products and play your music in perfect sync, or different music simultaneously, anywhere in your home. Using advanced technologies (like dual-band WiFi and an ARM Cortex9 1GHz Processor), BluOS can wirelessly transmit lossless music up to 24-bit/192kHz at ultra-fast speeds with no lag and zero loss in sound quality.

  • Compatible Multiroom Audio Sources: The following audio sources can be used for multiroom audio playback - internet radio (including TuneIn & iHeart Radio); online music services (including Tidal, Spotify, Amazon, Deezer, Slacker, and Napster); Bluetooth & USB audio, music libraries (computers and NAS drives); and Aux inputs (analog or digital).
  • Number of BluOS Zones: Up to 16 Bluesound devices can be connected in a strictly wireless environment. Demonstrated practice has shown that you can create up to 8 groups of 8 Bluesound devices or 4 groups of 16 Bluesound devices. If you want to connect more than 16 Bluesound devices, you will need to connect the Bluesound devices to your network using a wired connection. BluOS can then control up to 64 devices in a strictly wired environment.
Note: Gen 2i of Bluesound is compatible with earlier generations of Bluesound products.

Wired or Wireless Network Connection: The Bluesound Pulse M can be connected to your home network and Internet provider via a hardwired Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 jack connector or wireless 2.4/5GHz dual-band WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac connection. The 5GHz WiFi band offers a more faster and reliable connection with less interruptions and dropouts. Either network/internet connection allows you to stream music libraries from your Windows or Mac computer and NAS drive (such as the Bluesound Vault 2i, sold separately); as well as stream select online music services and internet radio.

  • Wired Ethernet Setup: A wired connection to the network is simple and requires no setup. If you wish to use the wired connection, simply connect the Pulse M directly to your router or home network using an Ethernet cable (sold separately).
  • Wireless WiFi Setup: A wireless connection allows you to place your BluOS Player virtually anywhere inside your home, but does require setup through the BluOS app on your Apple iOS or Android device. If you are on a Windows PC (7/8/10) or Apple Mac, you'll use Bluesound's web browser based application.  You'll be walked you through the set-up process step-by-step.
Note: A wireless network connection will always be required for the BluOS Controller App.

High Resolution Audio: High-resolution audio tracks are either 24-bit/96kHz or 24-bit/192kHz, and contain up to 6.5x more data than standard CDs, letting you hear all the detail of your favorite music in superior quality. With full support for hi-res audio, you can stream WAV, FLAC, ALAC, AIFF, WMA-Lossless, MQA music files over your home's WiFi network or directly from a connected USB mass storage class device. The Bluesound system also supports compressed music files such as MP3, AAC, WMA and OGG. Bluesound has been designed to work with today's larger music collections, and has indexed libraries up to 200,000 songs in demonstrated practice (this will depend on the music's metadata & artwork). Bluesound also offers gapless playback by default for all supported file music types.

Compression File Type Sampling Frequency Bit Rate or Bit Depth
Compressed Lossy MP3 16-48kHz 192-320 kbps
WMA
AAC
OGG
Lossless WMA-Lossless up to 96 kHz up to 24-bit
FLAC 192 kHz up to 24-bit
ALAC
MQA
Uncompressed AIFF up 192 kHz up to 24-bit
WAV
Notes: Bluesound cannot index or play AAC files with the extension ".m4p". These files were purchased in iTunes prior to 2009 and are subject to copy protection. Apple Consumers with an iTunes Match subscription can delete and re-download these files free of charge from their iTunes Cloud

MQA (Master Quality Authenticated): Bluesound is the first wireless multiroom audio system to support MQA (Master Quality Authenticated). MQA is a revolutionary end-to-end technology that captures and delivers master quality audio in a file that's small enough to stream or download. Bluesound worked closely with MQA to implement technology inside each Bluesound component to ensure the listener will hear MQA encoded music and streams exactly like the source and the way the artist intended you to hear it when it was approved in the studio.

Headphone Output: A 3.5mm headphone jack is located on the rear of the Pulse M for private listening with a set of headphones. The Pulse M speaker will be muted when headphone are connected.

Mounting & Placement Options: An elliptical shaped cabinet and acoustically transparent fabric grille creates a space-saving design that adds a contemporary touch to any space. The Pulse M can simply be mounted on a tabletop, shelf, or stand. It can even be wall mounted with optional bracket from Bluesound.

  • FS230 Floor Stand: Bluesound's FS230 floor stand (sold separately) provides the perfect listening platform for the Pulse M speaker. It features heavy gauge steel construction, adjustable height (24.8125"-43.625"), and cable management.
  • VM230 Wall Bracket: You can mount the Pulse M speaker on your wall using Bluesound's WM230 wall-mount bracket (sold separately). Precision engineered with high-grade materials to perfectly match the Pulse M, the WM230 uses a swivel design that allows you to rotate and lock the speaker at an optimal angle for enhanced sound quality.
