Features
Thin-Film Technology & Controlled Dispersion: By using advanced Thin-film Technology and Controlled Dispersion, the MartinLogan Motion Foundation Series F2 floorstanding loudspeaker delivers excellent high frequency response from its Gen2 Obsidian Folded Motion Tweeter (FMT) S and Folded Motion Waveguide. The Gen2 Obsidian FMT S uses a folded thin-film diaphragm to compress and expand air, creating a large surface area that delivers fast, accurate, and detailed high frequency reproduction. The integrated Folded Motion Wave Guide creates Controlled Dispersion to minimizes sound degrading early reflections by controlling the spread of sound from the tweeter into the room, enhancing your listening experience with greater clarity, and expanded placement options in the room.
- Gen2 Obsidian Folded Motion Tweeter (FMT) S: For the Motion Foundation Series MartinLogan designed the new 1" x 0.94" Gen2 Obsidian Folded Motion Tweeter (FMT) S to deliver effortless high frequency performance. MartinLogan's signature Folded Motion Tweeter (FMT) technology utilizes an extremely low-mass diaphragm that "squeezes" air, thus requiring significantly less excursion than a typical 1-inch dome tweeter. Folding the lightweight film into an accordion-like structure increases the playable surface area while keeping the tweeter size relatively compact. With several times greater surface area than typical tweeters, and an extremely lightweight film, this highly efficient combination provides incredible detail and clarity with virtually zero distortion.
- Folded Motion Waveguide: To further enhance the output and consistency of MartinLogan's latest, and most compact, Gen2 Obsidian Folded Motion Tweeter S, their engineers added an all new Folded Motion Waveguide to the mix. This waveguide works in tandem with the natural Controlled Dispersion properties of our FMT S to improve the sound consistency across the board, ensuring that every seat gets maximum clarity, especially critical for things like dialogue and vocals. The secondary benefit of the Folded Motion Waveguide is an increase in the Controlled Dispersion coverage area, enhancing the natural output of the tweeter by 10° in all directions for a generous 90° x 90° pattern. This increase still provides all the benefits of Controlled Dispersion, but with a slight increase to the coverage area to help better cope with today’s modern listening spaces, giving you more freedom of placement while still providing the sound quality benefits of controlled dispersion.
Aluminum Cone Midrange & Bass Drivers: The MartinLogan Motion Foundation Series F2 floorstanding loudspeaker employs a 3-way driver design by pairing the 1" x 0.94" Gen2 Obsidian Folded Motion Tweeter (FMT) S with a 5.5" midrange driver and three 6.5" bass woofers to compliments its smooth high frequency response with crips, detailed midrange and deep articulate bass. Each midrange and bass driver uses an aluminum aluminum uni-body cone woofer with rubber surround and stamped-steel basket for optinum performance and maximum output. The three 6.5" bass woofers incoporate MartinLogan's Floor Bounce Compensation technology to further enhance bass output and extend room placement flexibility. Floor Bounce Compensation technology combines precision woofer placement and crossover tuning, along with taking into advantage of a constant found in all listening rooms (the floor) to produce a more natural and full bass sound.
McCracken-Vojtko Crossover: Carefully designed using proprietary measurement and simulation software, plus tuned using double-blind listening, the McCracken-Vojtko 3-way crossover perfectly melds the 1" x 0.94" Gen2 Obsidian Folded Motion Tweeter S, 5.5" midrange driver and three 6.5" bass woofers together for a cohesive and beautiful sound. Combining the Low Distortion Topology of MartinLogan's signature McCracken-Vojtko Crossover philosophy with a combination of anechoic measurements, proprietary simulation software, in room measurements, and extensive blind listening tests to fine tune the sound profile for each speaker's unique application, MartinLogan has refined its signature sound for even more output, accuracy and stunning clarity.
Bass Reflex MDF Cabinet: The Motion Foundation Series F2 floorstanding loudspeaker employs a solid built cabinet design to eliminate fidelity robbing vibrations. The speaker cabinet is constructed from MDF (medium density fiberboard) with additional internal bracing to further reduce cabinet resonance. On the back of the cabinet are dual rear-firing ports which hels the speaker be more efficient and have better bass performance. The cabinet is available in three finishes - White, Walnut, or Black.
Stealth Locking Grille: Stealth mounting tabs securely hold the grille in place allowing you to customize the appearance of the MartinLogan Motion Foundation Series loudspeaker. Creating a unique look; leaving the grille on, off, or even rotating it to change the grain of the fabric providing maximum aesthetic control.
Binding Posts: The MartinLogan Motion Foundation Series F2 floorstanding loudspeaker is outfitted with a set of high-quality binding post terminals that will accept bare wire (up to 10AWG), pin-connectors, spade-lugs, and banana connectors (single only).
Outrigger Feet with Rubber & Spike Options: The F2 floorstanding speaker includes outrigger feet with the option for rubber isolators or spikes. The rubber isolators are great for hardwood, laminate, tile, vinyl and other hard surface flooring. The spikes should only be used on carpeted surfaces (the spikes can damage hard surface flooring). You can adjust the height of each foot to accommodate uneven flooring for maximum stability. The outrigger feet and the rubber isolators or spikes provide anti-vibration properties to reduce the transfer of energy from the speaker to the floor, resulting in lower distortion and coloration - providing a more accurate and detailed sound.
- Dimensions with Rubber Isolators: 12.5625" (w) x 44.75" (h) x 16.0625" (d)
- Dimensions with Spikes: 12.5625" (w) x 44.375" (h) x 16.0625" (d)
Note: The included outrigger feet with spikes or rubber isolators should always be used for optimum performance and maximum stability.
Placement Options: Although the F10 floorstanding speaker is designed to deliver a superb sonic performance when placed close to a wall, you may notice improved imaging and detail if you are able to place the speaker 2' or more' from the rear wall and 2' or more from the side walls. To achieve the best stereo imaging, a pair of speakers should form an equilateral triangle between each other and the main seated listening position. To enhanced the stereo image even more, you should angle (or "toe-in") a pair of speakers toward the primary listening position.
Motion Foundation Series: The MartinLogan Motion Foundation Series incorporates many of MartinLogan's renowned high-performance technologies. The Motion Foundation Series features MartinLogan's Gen2 Folded Motion Tweeter (FMT) S with a custom Folded Motion Waveguide for smooth high frequencies, plus aluminum cone woofers for both detailed midrange and deep bass. With a choice of 5 different models in 3 different finishes (Black, White, Walnut), the Motion Foundation Series is ideal foundation for building a high performance Stereo or Surround sound system. Choose from two Floorstanding models (F1/F2), two bookshelf models (B1/B2), and one center-channel (C1) model.
Optional Powered Subwoofer: Add on an optional MartinLogan powered subwoofer (sold separately - see Accessories Tab) for bigger and deeper bass response when listening to your movie and music soundtracks.
