About the MartinLogan Helos™ 12

Outstanding sound — but practically invisible
MartinLogan's low-profile, in-ceiling Helos 12 speaker is designed to stay out of sight and out of mind...until you hear the rich, detailed sound it delivers. This high-performance speaker hides away in your ceiling, which means you can enjoy great sound in rooms where regular free-standing speakers are an awkward fit. Pick up a pair for stereo applications in a kitchen or bedroom, or even use the Helos 12 as part of a stealthy home theater setup.

Made from the right stuff for superlative performance
The Helos 12 features a high-resolution 1" soft dome tweeter for detailed, sparkling clear highs, and a long-throw 6-1/2" aluminum cone woofer for dynamic midrange and tight, responsive bass. A hand-built, audiophile-grade crossover ensures seamless driver integration for low-distortion, high-accuracy sound.
Installer-friendy design
The Helos 12's robust mounting-lock system allows quick, trouble-free installation, providing firm coupling of the speaker's chassis to the ceiling. And this speaker is practically invisible thanks to an ultra-low profile, micro-perforated grille and hidden bezel. Magnets hold the grille in place, reducing the risk of warping or damage during installation. The tweeter is mounted in a pivoting stem, allowing you to easily direct high frequencies where you want them for better sound and more versatile placement options.

Features
In-Ceiling Loudspeaker: The MartinLogan Helos 12 is a high-resolution in-ceiling loudspeaker featuring a 1" neodymium soft-dome tweeter mounted in a pivoting stem, aluminum cone woofer, and proprietary Vojtko crossover topology. This in-ceiling speaker blends seamlessly into any home thanks to it's low profile, micro-perforated grille with no visible bezel.
Pivoting Tweeter: The MartinLogan in-ceiling speaker features a high-resolution neodymium tweeter mounted on a pivoting tweeter stem that easily aims at the primary listening location. This design allows the audience to enjoy the highest levels of in-ceiling audio performance, while still providing rich, detailed sound throughout the entire room.
Aluminum Cone Woofer: The MartinLogan in-ceiling speaker employs a 6.5" aluminum cone woofer with a rubber surround and cast aluminum basket for detailed midrange and powerful midbass extension.
Precision Vojtko Crossover: Carefully hand-built using only the finest polyester capacitors and air-core coils, the crossover employ's MartinLogan's proprietary Vojtko topology for vanishingly low distortion and seamless driver integration. This precision-tuned network preserves even the most microscopic sonic nuances while handling the full dynamics of any source.
Spring-Post Connectors: The MartinLogan Helos 12 features two spring-post connectors to attach your speaker wire. The spring-posts will accept bare wire (16- to 12-gauge) and pin-connectors.
Robust Mounting Locks: A robust mounting-lock system allows quick, trouble-free installation. When not in use, the constant-control mounting locks are held securely within a self-contained housing. When moved into place during installation, they couple the speaker's chassis firmly to the ceiling. And if the speaker is ever removed, the locks retract and latch themselves back in their housings.
Low Profile Grille: The MartinLogan Helos 12 features a low profile, paintable micro-perforated grille with no visible bezel for a near invisible integration into any ceiling. A magnetic system secures the grille easily into place, reducing the risk of warping or damage during installation.
Applications & Placement: The Helos 12 is suitable for almost any application in small rooms. Ideal for use in a multi-channel home theater as a surround speaker, in a kitchen as 2-channel stereo speaker, or in a hallway as part of a distributed audio system. This MartinLogan in-ceiling speaker offers superb imaging and flexible placement in nearly any location. However, for best performance and imaging place speakers equidistant from one another and avoid physical obstructions between the speaker and primary listening position.
Installation Dimensions: The in-ceiling speaker has an overall measurement of 9.5" in diameter x 4.625" deep. It requires a cut-out of 8.375" in diameter and a mounting depth of 4.4375" behind the ceiling surface. The speaker only protrudes 0.25" from the ceiling.
Break-in Period: Allow approximately 72 hours of break-in at 90 dB (moderate listening levels) before any critical listening.
