Features

Thin-Film Technology & Controlled Dispersion: By using advanced Thin-film Technology and Controlled Dispersion, the MartinLogan Motion XT C100 center-channel loudspeaker delivers excellent high frequency response from its Gen2 Obsidian Folded Motion Tweeter (FMT) XT and Folded Motion Waveguide. The Gen2 Obsidian FMT XT uses a folded thin-film diaphragm to compress and expand air, creating a large surface area that delivers fast, accurate, and detailed high frequency reproduction. The integrated Folded Motion Wave Guide creates Controlled Dispersion to minimizes sound degrading early reflections by controlling the spread of sound from the tweeter into the room, enhancing your listening experience with greater clarity, and expanded placement options in the room.

  • Gen2 Obsidian Folded Motion Tweeter (FMT) XT: The Motion XT C100 features MartinLogan's proprietary Thin-Film Technology, the Gen2 Obsidian Folded Motion Tweeter (FMT) XT - measuring 1.25" x 2.4". The Gen2 Obsidian FMT XT Tweeter has been upgraded with a larger motor structure to provide higher output and lower distortion. The FMT XT offers effortless, detailed sound with a 40% increase in surface area compared to MartinLogan's signature FMT. The Gen2 Obsidian FMT XT's upgraded design elevates its performance to new heights for a clean, detailed, and accurate high frequency response.
  • Folded Motion Waveguide: The Folded Motion Waveguide profile was meticulously chosen to harmoniously align the tweeter's output with the dispersion of the midrange/bass driver, resulting in enhanced output. The waveguide guarantees consistent sound quality regardless of the listener's position and minimizes unwanted room reflection for Controlled Dispersion of 90-degrees (h) x 45-degrees (v). Proper waveguide design is crucial as it helps control the sound's dispersion pattern, ensuring that the sound is evenly distributed across the listening area and resulting in optimal sound quality.

Dual Nomex-Reinforced Kevlar Cone Woofers: The Motion XT C100 houses two 6.5" Nomex-Reinforced Kevlar midrange/bass drivers with rubber surrounds and cast aluminum baskets. The Nomex-Reinforced Kevlar cone woofers offer the perfect balance of lightweight, strength, anti-resonance and anti-ringing properties for unparalleled sound quality. The Nomex-Reinforced Kevlar cone drivers are perfectly suited for keeping pace with the Gen2 Obsidian FMT XT, providing clarity of vocals with dialog and instrumental accuracy at any volume level.

McCracken-Vojtko Crossover:Carefully designed using proprietary measurement and simulation software, plus tuned using double-blind listening, the McCracken-Vojtko 2.5-way crossover perfectly melds the 1.25" x 2.4" Gen2 Obsidian Folded Motion Tweeter XT and dual 6.5" Nomex-Reinforced Kevlar midrange/bass drivers together for a cohesive and beautiful sound. The Motion XT C100 utilizes a 2.5-Way crossover design to eliminate acoustic lobing and preserve the tonality of the source material. This results in a significant reduction of negative effects on sound reproduction, leading to a more precise and accurate listening experience.

Bass Reflex MDF Cabinet: The Motion XT C100 center-channel loudspeaker employs a solid built cabinet design to eliminate fidelity robbing vibrations. The speaker cabinet is constructed from MDF (medium density fiberboard) with an extra-thick front baffle and additional internal bracing to further reduce cabinet resonance. On the back of the cabinet is a rear-firing port which helps the speaker be more efficient and have better bass performance. The cabinet is available in three finishes - Satin White, Walnut Veneer, or Gloss Black.

Dual Binding Posts: The Motion XT C100 is outfitted with two sets of binding posts allowing you to bi-amp or bi-wire the center-channel loudspeaker. These binding posts ensure a secure connection to many types of cable and connectors. The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single only), pin-connectors, spade-lugs, and bare wire (up to 10AWG).

  • Bi-Wiring: Bi-wiring can provide noticeable improvements in the overall transparency of your loudspeakers. Run separate speaker wires to the low & high frequency drivers from a single amplifier (the upper set of binding posts are for the high frequency drivers; the lower set of binding posts are for the low frequency drivers).
  • Bi-Amping: Bi-amping allows you to use separate amplifiers for the high & low frequency sections of your loudspeaker for greater dynamic range & lower distortion. We recommend that your separate amplifiers have identical gain to preserve the speaker's voicing balance.
Note: If you decide to bi-wire or bi-amp, you must remove the jumpers between the terminal posts (failure to do this could result in damage to your amplifier and loudspeakers).

Mounting & Placement Options: The Motion XT C100 loudspeaker can be positioned on a shelf, tabletop, speaker stand (sold separately - see Accessories Tab), or other flat mounting surface. The unique flippable design of the Motion XT C100's cabinet allows for better sound clarity and immersion when placed on a lower shelf or piece of furniture by directing the sound upwards towards the listener's ears. Self-adhesive rubber feet are included to isolate the speaker from the mounting surface and to protect the mounting surface and speaker from scratches. The rubber feet add approximately 0.375" to the overall height of the speaker.

  • The Motion XT C100 speaker should be centered above or below your TV screen on a sturdy flat mounting surface.
  • Although the speaker is designed to deliver a superb sonic performance when placed close to a wall, you may notice improved imaging and detail if you are able to place the speaker 2' or more from the rear wall and 2' or more from the side walls.

Note: The Motion XT C100 does not include any brackets, keyhole-slots, or threaded inserts to wall-mount the speaker.

Motion XT Series: The Motion XT line, or "eXTreme" line, is MartinLogan's highest performance tier of their Motion Series speakers. The Motion XT Series of loudspeakers is all about more - more detail, more clarity, and more power. The Motion XT Series pairs high-performance Nomex-Reinforced Kevlar midrange/bass drivers with MartinLogan's highest performance Gen2 Folded Motion XT Tweeter. Through a rigorous development process involving anechoic chamber measurements, blind listening tests, and in room measurements MartinLogan crafted a more refined modern sound for the Motion XT Series that is a whole new level of quality and excellence. The Motion XT Series consists of two floorstanding loudspeakers (XT F100/XT F200), a bookshelf loudspeaker (XT B100), and center-channel speaker (XT C100).

Optional Powered Subwoofer: Add on an optional MartinLogan powered subwoofer (sold separately - see Accessories Tab) for bigger and deeper bass response when listening to your movie and music soundtracks.

Q
I Have XTW5-LCR for Left and right channels in the front will this be a good match for the center?
prajwal reddy  May 09, 2023

A
The best match would be using a third MartinLogan Motion XT CI XTW5-LCR for an exact voice match for the center channel, Prajwal. If you do not wish to use an in-wall speaker for the center and prefer to use a traditional box-style speaker this XT C100 would be a good choice in the link below is a great choice. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-sFAYqMgp4HK/p_839XTC1HGB/MartinLogan-Motion-XT-C100-Gloss-Black.html

Q
I have Def Tech BP7002 towers, Klipsch RB51 II surrounds, and Klipsch RP 500 SA Atmos speakers. Will my Denon X4700 receiver have enough power if I add Martin Logan Motion XT C100 speaker, it being 5ohm? I don't want to add separate amp.

A
I would not advise using the MartinLogan Motion XT C100 without matching your L and R mains with the XT F100 (in the handy link below) or the larger F200 for best performance, Vladimir. Anytime you mismatch your front three speakers in a high-performance home theater setting results can vary. Your Denon X4700 is a robust receiver that is 4-ohm stable so you can add the XT C100 if you plan to upgrade your towers later on! The Gen2 Obsidian Folded Motion XT tweeter with custom waveguide is extremely smooth while providing excellent dispersion, a very nice upgrade to your setup! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_839XTF1HWN/MartinLogan-Motion-XT-F100-Walnut.html
