Very, very, nice headphones. Outstanding actualy

These are my third set of headphones by Audeze. They are replacing the LCD-3s I have had for a couple years.. What a difference, I did not realize that I prefer analytical listening till I heard it via the LCD-5s. Every instrument stands out like I have never heard before. Vocals are outstanding. The bass is toned down from what the LCD-3 have but it will still thump you if it is there in the music. Examples would be Obscured by Clouds by Pink Floyd - 1972 Obfusc/ation (2016 remix) Crystal Ball by Carolin No - Carolin No Outstanding. They do cost quite a bit, and I imagine you will need the system to take advantage of what they can do for the music. I am glad I decided to purchase these headphones. I doubt I will get the urge to see what else is out there in headphone land. This was my first purchase ever from Crutchfield, and they are now on the top of the list for any future purchase. I live in Virginia and I received them the next day. Crutchfield called me to verify i had made the purchase. Nice touch that, covering both our butts. Excellent service Anyway, there will be no buyers remorse for purchasing the LCD-5s. I am glad I got them. Regards Ben

From the moment they snugly fit over my ears, I am transported to a realm where every note, every beat, and every melody becomes vividly alive, resonating with the very core of my being. It also gave me a boner. While my love for my headphones knows no bounds, I am not blind to their shortcomings. Every masterpiece has its flaws, and these headphones are no exception. Though they whisk me away on a euphoric journey through sound, there are moments when their imperfections rear their head, reminding me that even the most beloved devices have their limitations.

Audeze LCD-5

The Audeze LCD-5 headphones are outstanding. This review compares them to the Meze Audio Elite and Focal Utopia headphones. All are driven with the Naim Uniti Atom Headphone Edition streaming hi-res music from a NAS drive. To a large degree a comparison of these three involves splitting hairs; all three are superb and any one of them is an excellent choice. The Meze Audio Elite design delivers the bass frequencies particularly well. As such it is my choice for large symphonic works, most jazz, and popular music. The Focal Utopia headphones produce a very pleasing warm sound, and for me is the choice for solo piano, string quartets and other chamber music, solo violin, solo cello, and small to medium size ensembles. The Focal would possibly be my all-around choice. The Audeze LCD-5 headphones excel in transparency and rendering instruments exactly as they sound. I have a recording of a soprano with lute accompaniment doing Purcell that suits the Audeze very well. Again, while the Audeze LCD-5, Focal Utopia, and Meze Audio Elite have their subtle differences, all three are truly magnificent.
