Overview: The Audeze LCD-X (100-LX-1018-00) over-ear headphones have become the choice of audio engineers, music producers, and audiophiles because of their technology, efficiency, and accuracy. Known for their high-performance planar magnetic drivers, Audeze LCD headphones provide a spacious, musical sound with powerful bass and detailed midrange and high frequencies. The LCD-X features rugged black aluminum enclosures, along with a soft black leather lambskin headband and ear pads. The headphones include a detachable 6.2' braided cable with a straight 1/4" plug with an 1/8" mini-plug adapter. Also included is a hinged, hard storage case with a foam insert to protect the headphones while traveling. The LCD-X headphones are handcrafted in the USA.

Planar Magnetic Drivers: Instead of traditional dynamic headphone drivers, the LCD-X headphones use large planar magnetic drivers. These drivers can produce a uniform driving force directly across the entire diaphragm, rather than from a voice coil near the center, resulting in lower distortion. The large drivers (106mm) move large volumes of air, enabling them to produce clean, deep bass. Flat diaphragms also produce more natural sound localization (imaging) than cone-shaped dynamic drivers. Audeze's "Ultra-Thin Uniforce™" diaphragms are 0.5 microns thick (0.00002"), or 150 times thinner than the average human hair (75 microns). A thin metal layer is laid on top of the film diaphragm, and micro-etched to create a voice coil. This voice coil interacts with a proprietary array of Neodymium N50 magnets to push the suspended diaphragm back and forth to create sound waves. Audeze's Fazor™ wave guides maneuver the sound waves out of the drivers in an even and smooth way without interfering with each other, resulting in cleaner sound with greater resolution and better imaging.

Cable: The LCD-X headphones come with a 6.2-foot braided OCC (Ohno Continuous Casting) copper cable. On the headphone end, the cable has dual 4-pin XLR connectors for the right (red) and left earcups. The cable terminates into a single-ended (unbalanced) 1/4" plug for connecting to pro audio consoles, headphone amplifiers, or home audio components. A 1/4"-to-1/8" (3.5mm) mini plug adapter is included for connecting to portable digital audio players, smartphones, and tablets.

Open-back Design: The LCD-X's open-back design creates a natural soundstage, similar to listening to a pair of speakers in a room. It does not block ambient sound the way closed-back headphones do. The headphones are sensitive enough to be driven directly by smartphones or tablets, however, a high-quality headphone amplifier is highly recommended for best performance.

Travel Case: The headphones come with a hard-shell, hinged travel case to protect the headphones and keep them away from the elements. The rugged case is made of impact-resistant plastic panels with aluminum edges and corner brackets. It has a single release latch. Inside, the foam insert is customized for LCD headphones with a slot for cables and adapters. Dimensions: Width 11.5", Height 7.3", Depth 9".

Accessories and Replacement Parts: Because the headphone cable is detachable, you can order standard and premium balanced cables with a 3-pin XLR connector, and unbalanced cables with a 1/4" plug (like the included cable) directly from Audeze. You can also obtain replacement leather ear pads should they show signs of wear. The spring steel suspension frame of the LCD-X headphones can be replaced with an optional carbon fiber suspension headband, or the original spring steel suspension, if desired.

Warranty Details: The Audeze LCD Planar Drivers are covered by a 3-year warranty from the original date of purchase. The leather ear pads, headband, and cable all carry a 1-year warranty.
