Good, not great
Jesus D from OLYMPIA, WA on 6/16/2025
Sounds great, the battery life is excellent, but very heavy, and doesn't feel secure on my head. Speakers have constant static when sidetone is used. If I were to make the purchase again I would go with a less expensive option as this doesn't live up to the price point.
Pros: Excellent sound quality ( when not using side tone) Battery lasts forever
Cons: Heavy Doesn't fit securely due to weight Static at all times when sidetone is on The sound that acknowledges the headphones being turned on/off doesn't seem to adjust with the volume control and is always very loud

Audeze Maxwell (Xbox)
Guest from Stuarts Draft, VA on 2/8/2025
I used these just for Xbox Series X. I couldn't get them loud enough compared to my other headsets. Adjusting the EQ with the Audeze app disconnects the headset from the Xbox. The headset couldn't be used with my dac either. Ended up returning and going with my previous setup. Crutchfield and the staff were great from purchasing to the return process. 5 stars for them.

Awesome Wireless Headset
Adrian from Seymour, CT on 10/1/2024
Ordered these to try a wireless headset for the first time and these are a game changer! The weight is quite noticeable compared to my previous open back wired headset but I quickly got used to it. Easy to adjust fitment on the headband and controls are nice to use one adjusted to their layout.
Pros: Great sound out of the box even better with Dolby atmos enabled.
Cons: Weight of headset may be off putting to some. Try to find a pair to try before buying.

A great headset
Christopher from Worcester, MA on 5/2/2024
The Audeze Maxwell is the best wireless gaming headset I have owned. The build quality of this headset is great, and the headset is very comfortable - even when wearing glasses. It's a big step up from the Mobius and the Penrose headsets that Audeze used to make. Overall, the sound quality is excellent, and the boom mic performance is a lot better than any other wireless headset that I have used. This is a splurge, but I feel like I got what I paid for.
Pros: Comfortable. Well-built. Excellent sound quality. Good microphone. Long battery life.
Cons: Expensive.

Audeze Maxwell (Xbox)
Spencer from Vallejo, CA on 11/12/2023
Battery life is out of this world. Sound quality is good, but it feels a little lackluster for the price vs other headsets I've used which're half the price of this one. It's still better than them, and in a few things it is noticeably better, but doesn't quite blow me away. Wireless dongle is pretty temperamental about being in a good spot free of obstructions, but once it's in a good place it has a rather long range. I recommend trying a few USB ports since some worked better than others for me. The range was so short on one that it was a deal breaker initially, but thankfully trying another fixed the problem, but the dongle range still seems a little short. Analog controls are nice as they prevent accidental triggering from touch controls, particularly if you have longer hair. Mic quality, with the attachable boom mic, is decent for what it is. Imaging is also a stellar point. The only real major feature I'd want would be some kind of transparency mode as it can be hard for me to hear people with these on, even if I turn down the volume.
Pros: Class leading battery that can last for days Great imaging Analog controls Sleek looks and comfortable Some of the highest fidelity wireless you'll ever find
Cons: Wireless Dongle doesn't have the greatest range compared to other options Sound quality is good and better than them, but don't blow me away vs headsets half the price Lack of transparency mode

Audeze Maxwell (Xbox)
Brandon from Danielson, CT on 11/3/2023
Great sound quality! The headset also has impressive battery life and I love the simultaneous connection capabilities. Very slight trade off on the comfort side as the headset is a bit heavy, which starts to become noticeable for me during extended use periods. Overall it's a great headset and I would recommend to a friend.
Pros: Sound quality, battery life, build quality, features, ease of use.
Cons: A bit on the heavier side

Maxwell First Impressions
Michael from Ballston Spa , NY on 8/2/2023
After coming away from the Penrose for [Xbox] which was a disappointment in my opinion, I held-out hope for one more purchase from Audeze with the Maxwell [Xbox]. First off, the USB Dongle has totally eliminated any or all static noise, or constant drop-outs that plagued the Penrose. The Maxwell connected instantly, and is ready to go. Had zero issue[s] with Bluetooth connecting immediately to my S21 phone, or my Samsung Tablet. I didn't find the APP very useful, and actually; I don't see any real reason[s] to use it, other than switching to the different presets on the fly, rather than going through them one-at-time with button presses. The headset is very comfortable, but is a little on the heavy side. Not a deal-breaker, but is evident. The sound is crystal clear, and delivers an entertaining experience coupled with the assistance of Dolby Atmos. I use the Maxwell's strictly for gaming, so I can't comment on using them for music. Answering a phone call via bluetooth is a simple button press [answer & disconnect], and the conversations have been very clear on either end. The reason for a 4-star review over a 5 is this: I've been using the Arctis 9 from Steel Series since that headset was first released a few years ago, and using the Chat-to-Game wheel with that headset compared to the Maxwell seems to be a lot more trial-and-error finding the best middle ground when gaming. In the end; I highly recommend this headset if their price isn't a problem for you.
Pros: Great loud, clear sound[s] Easy setup and use No drop-outs or static - Bluetooth was/is a seamless setup
Cons: Fine tuning Chat-to-Game wheel balance to find the middle ground [may not be for others] When mic was far away from my mouth, friends commented that my voice was "muffled" APP limited, and seems useless

Next level sound!
Derek from PARMA, OH on 7/14/2023
I produce electronic music so I feel like my ears are pretty in tune. These headphones for the price are fantastic. Huge soundstage. I was surprised how tonally balanced they are. For gaming I was coming from the latest gen Astro A50 and these blow them away. Astro's are boosted in the Low end so you might notice right away these seem to have less bass but the truth is what you're hearing is just balanced sound. It's also nice these are bluetooth so you can use them with your phone for just listening to music and what not. I own several high end Sennheiser headphones I use for music production and these give them a run for their money. For music I did notice they do start to get a little hard when you start turning them up. But this is at levels you do not need to be listening at anyways. The sweet spot is perfect. These are definitely the best headphones you can get for gaming at the moment. Crutchfield service is always a 10/10 experience. Thanks

Broken on arrival
Garrett from spring texas on 6/12/2023
They arrived broken The film behind the left ear cup is crinkled, so every time you move your head, or the sound gets loud or you put them on or touch them at all or even breeze they make this horrible crackling sound from the broken ear cup and it makes the left speaker horrible to listen through but other than that, the side that works sounds great. But one star for the broken on arrival.
Pros: The side that works sounds great
Cons: They are broken expensive headphones, broken on arrival

Dongle is trash
Paul from OAK HARBOR, OH on 5/28/2023
Well. it may sound great on the box and PC. that is if the dongle would stay connected. I can only use it wired, which is stupid. I have Better, lighter headphones connected to a DAC that is great for PC. as of right now, this is just a heavy wired headset. Won't connect to anything and stay connected. It worked ok until an "Update" to the dongle.
Pros: I can't list a single PRO.
Cons: The APP does not work correctly on the PC Won't stay connected for over a minute by dongle. Too heavy to be used as a wired headset.
