Buy anything else

The fact that this new version of nest camera doesn't work with the nest software AND the Google home interface is WEAK and cannot be used on a computer makes this a terrible option. I've wasted my money on building this 4 camera system. DO NOT BUY.

Solid indoor camera from Google
Nolan from Charlottesville on 2/15/2022
Setup went smoothly on iPad. Have been using this as a sleep camera for our 2-year-old. She did not like our older Foscam camera due to the ring of red IR lights it used at night, but she has not had a problem with this Nest camera's IR lights (just two). In the Google Home app the image quality can be set to either Max or High, you can toggle the night vision to On, Off, or Auto, and you can set the green status light brightness to Low, High, or Auto. The image quality at Max is pretty good (more than adequate for a baby camera), and the night vision works well. There are some contrast issues between the bright window on a sunny day and the darker crib area, and there's a bit more video compression than I would prefer, but the image stays fairly sharp even when zooming in. On the viewing page for the camera in the Google Home app there are options for Live view, (event) History, and More (you can turn the camera off or on). The Talk and Listen feature works well, and you can adjust the volume of your voice coming out of the camera's speaker (you can also disable the camera's mic in the Audio settings). You can also pinch to zoom on the live image. Build quality is very good, and this just has better aesthetics that most cameras of this type. I think this camera is a great value for the price, especially if you already are using the Google Home ecosystem.
Pros: Easy setup. Well-designed camera housing/mount and equally well-designed app controls. Live video stream starts immediately if you want to watch it after getting a notification. Included power cable is long enough to not need extension cord. Does not scare our child like our previous camera did!
Cons: Although Google Photos recognizes our daughter almost 100% of the time, I had to teach this camera that it was the same person (it kept picking her up as an unknown person when the lighting was different or she was making a different face). The notifications aren't perfect, and I've gotten notifications that there's a person detected when it's just my daughter sleeping and not moving. Might have to call the ghost hunters again.

Indoor Nest Cam
Crutchfield customer from Westchester, IL on 11/28/2021
Picture quality is okay at best. Night vision is absolutely amazing. MUCH better than the outdoor nest cams. This cam does not like all LED lights. The room I set the cam up in has LED lighting and the picture was fine. Where I placed the cam also has LED lighting but a different type and it has lines running through the screen only when the lights are on.
Pros: Night vision is one of the best I've seen
Cons: The slightest amount of zoom and the picture is extremely grainy. Some LEDs will cause interference.

Doesn't work in the Nest app

The Gen 2 Nest Cameras don't work along side of the Gen 1 and Dropcams in the Nest app. Makes no sense.
