Greetings Tim. Thank you for your question. It can be used for car, home and marine use. It uses the standard RCA type connections.

Q
Is there a signal booster/amplifier that could be place in line before the splitter? I have (1) Sonos Port that I would like to split the signal to 4 separate amplifiers. Worried about signal loss and poor quality downstream of the splitter.

A
Hey Nick, for home audio there is not going to be a booster or anything like that to work alongside this cable. That being said, the length of the cable itself is very small overall and the audio signal technically does not need a high form of voltage for travel so this cable by itself should be just fine.

This Fusion Performance RCA splitter is designed for use in Marine audio applications where one set of RCA preamp outputs from a radio headunit are sent to 8-channel amplifiers with individual input requirements, Nick. Signal loss is very minimal when using this splitter at 2.1-feet of length. Using a Sonos Port for the input of each amp is the ideal solution. If you do not wish to have zone separation and use a single Sonos Port on each amplifier you could consider using this Fusion Performance RCA splitter cable. Keep in mind that because this has female RCAs on the input end, a short male-to-male RCA cable from your Sonos Port is also required. If you are concerned about sound quality, I would use a high-quality RCA cable like the AudioQuest Evergreen below. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_703EGRR06M/AudioQuest-Evergreen-0-6-meter-2-feet.html
