    Product Research

    Features

Marine Certified: The Fusion MS-RA55 is designed and engineered specifically for use on the water, so it complies with IPx5 water resistant standards. The MS-RA55 is also equipped with a rugged electrically isolated aluminum die-cast chassis to maintain isolation between battery negative and the hull of your metal boat. In addition, the chassis of the MS-RA55 acts as a heat sink for the entire stereo, removing the need for an external cooling fan.

Note: This unit is water resistant, but not waterproof. It should not be submerged in water.

2.3" LCD: Information and text is easily readable, even under direct sunlight on the large 2.3" LCD screen. The MS-RA55 offers adjustable contrast and brightness for optimum viewing. The display supports English, French, Spanish, German, Dutch, or Italian alphanumeric text.

Bluetooth Music Streaming: The Fusion MS-RA55 features built-in Bluetooth A2DP/AVRCP for wireless music streaming, control, and song/artist display. You can wirelessly stream stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth source device (like the iPhone or an Android smartphone) to the MS-RA55. You are able to control basic playback operation like Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track from the marine stereo's front-panel controls (advanced music browsing will still need to be done from your Bluetooth source device). The MS-RA55 will also display your Bluetooth music's song/artist/album information on its front-panel LCD.

Note: The unit does not support Bluetooth hands-free phone calls.

AM/FM Tuner with RDS: The MS-RA55 marine stereo features a built-in AM/FM radio that offers manual, seek, and preset tuning. You can store up to 15 FM station presets and 15 AM station presets. The Radio Data System (RDS) feature displays radio broadcast information such as artist & track information when listening to compatible AM/FM stations. You can also select between US and European tuning.

Aux Input: Fusion's MS-RA55 marine stereo features a stereo RCA auxiliary input that is attached to its rear chassis by a 10" cable. If you audio source has a stereo minijack output, then you will need a stereo minijack-to-RCA adapter (sold separately).

    4-Channel Amplifier: The MS-RA55 is equipped with a Class-AB amplifier rated at 25W (RMS) x 4 channel / 45W (Peak) x 4 channel.

Line Out: The MS-RA55 provides a stereo RCA line output for connection to an external amplifier. The line output's volume control is linked to Zone 1. The line output passes a full-range audio signal.

Multi-Zone Audio: The MS-RA55 marine stereo features multi-zone technology which enables two audio Zones with independent volume control from the receiver's built-in amplifier and pre-outs. Each audio Zone will play the same source, but offers independent volume control and audio settings of each Zone.

    • Zone 1: Zone 1 consists of 2 channel stereo speaker outputs and a stereo RCA line output.
    • Zone 2: Zone 2 consists of 2 channel stereo speaker output.

Audio Controls: You can adjust the marine stereo's bass & treble. You can also balance the sound from left to right. In addition, you can set the head unit's maximum volume limit for both Zones.

Bulkhead Mount: The MS-RA55 requires a rectangular cutout in the bulkhead for inserting the chassis. The marine receiver has a shallow mounting depth, perfect for space conscious installation on small boats and personal watercrafts, where this is especially crucial. Four screws (supplied) fasten the faceplate against the mounting surface, and hold the included waterproof gasket against the bulkhead. A paper template is supplied to assist you with the cutout and drilling the screw holes. You can install the unit within 45° of horizontal.

    • Cutout Width = 5.1875"
    • Cutout Height = 2.0625"
    • Cutout Depth = 2.5"
    • Nose Width = 6.25"
    • Nose Height =  2.6875"
    • Nose Depth = 1.25"
    Note: The screw holes are spaced 5.5625" (w) x 1.6875" (h) apart.

    Q
The wiring has two zones of speakers, my boat has only one zone (just two speakers). Should I wire them to zone 1 or 2? Does it matter?

Doesn't matter which zone. I did mine zone one.

Can't say for certain but my guess is it won't matter. Even if there's a fade option (not sure there is) it would work on either of the two zones as sort of an an on/off.

This unit came with our pontoon boat the powers 4 fusion speakers. Can add a JL M600/6 channel amp to power the 4 speakers and a sub using this unit or aren't there enough RCA outputs?
    sean  Jan 22, 2019

    A
Yes, you can drive an external powered amp from the low- level outputs. The harness has a wire to power up the amp when the unit is turned on. You should be able to download the manual from Fusion with a complete wiring diagram.

Hi Sean. If you are just going with the stock (4) Fusion speakers, the unit will suffice. If you want to add a sub, I highly recommend buying the amp. If you really want to rock, I would replace the fusion speakers with JL's. Install 4 JL 6.5s, a 10" JL sub, and this amp, and it will sound amazing. Good luck! Matt

We have this stereo installed on our boat, but cannot get the aux to play. When we plug a device in to the auxilliary, it shows the music is playing on our device and turned up, but there is no output through the stereo. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Not sure how to correct the problem. Sorry! I returned ours. Did not like the radio. Condensation kept forming on the LCD display.

what is the maximum thickness of mounting surface? Can i install this in a wood panel? Thanks

I've searched through all our information along with Fusion's site and couldn't find anything on this. I did find that they include 6 gauge self tapping screws to mount it. I don't see any reason that you couldn't get longer 6 gauge self taping screws to mount it to any surface with just about any thickness to it. Fusion's MS-RA55 marine stereo features a stereo RCA auxiliary input that is attached to its rear chassis by a 10" cable. If you audio source has a stereo minijack output, then you will need a stereo minijack-to-RCA adapter; like this: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120RCA356/T-Spec-Adapter-Cable.html For more details or to discuss further, please feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat.
