Philips Hue Play White and Color Ambiance Light Bar
Patrick from Lodi, WI on 1/19/2025
Does not have bluetooth and can not be controlled by the Hue App. You need to have the Hue Bridge to control this light bar. Light bar would work fine with the Bridge but I wanted to control it by the Hue app so I returned it.
Pros: Compact size.
Cons: Needs Hue Bridge to control the light bar. Does not have bluetooth.

Good
Ryan from Phoenix, AZ on 2/21/2022
Works great. It's easy to connect to and control. Until can only do one color at a time; there's no opportunity for it to produce gradients. Best if used with other color lights to produce gradients.
Pros: Easy to connect to and control
Cons:

Expensive, misleading.
Crutchfield customer from Manteca, CA on 11/13/2021
Misleading product advertising. (not crutchfield, Phillips). The hub unit for this requires a physical Ethernet port on your switch, despite being "wifi devices", and this kills it for us. We don't have open ports and I'm not buying another switch for this. Also the power cables are short, forcing you to buy a longer cable -- which Phillips has ready to go. We are returning this.
Pros: Bright.
Cons: Misleading product description, needs physical switchport for hub controller. If you don't use the hub, they are just bright white lights.

Great Light bar
Crutchfield customer from Dublin, OH on 1/4/2021
These were a gift for our son for Christmas. He has started streaming and wanted to provide a better user experience. These lights were rated as the best out there in this price range. He finds these to be very satisfying but he is still learning how to use all its features. The biggest surprise was that he needed a hub to access all its features. Now that he has the bridge, he gets all the colors, not just a white light. He would highly recommend these products, especially for streaming.
Pros: Nice ambience and choice of colors.
Cons: The fact that you can't get all the features without the bridge.

Philips Hue Play White and Color Ambiance Light Bar
Crutchfield customer from Rochester, MN on 9/27/2020
Philips Hue lights may not be the cheapest smart light brand, but they are one with a very extensive list of options. I have yet to have any quality issues with the Hue lights I own. I bought these lights to go with my TV media setup with the Hue Sync box. I enjoy the setup and it does a good job of syncing the colors with what is on my screen.

Great for Zoom Lighting
Crutchfield customer from Philadelphia, PA on 5/23/2020
Great lights as a new addition to my Hue ecosystem. Mounted them horizontally on the top edge of my Apple Thunderbolt Display monitor to provide better light while on Zoom meetings. Work perfectly to balance lighting on left and right side to compensate for window lighting. Ability to adjust colors is a plus.
Pros: Easy setup; Lightweight to mount via command strips; Connected to HomeKit for voice-control; Easy to use
Cons: None

Philips Hue Play White and Color Ambiance Light Bar
Crutchfield customer from San Francisco, CA on 5/20/2020
Great color... when the hue bridge stays connected.
Pros: The lights themselves work perfectly.
Cons: Connectivity issues when using the hue sync box and hue bridge. More of an issue with the bridge vs. the lights themselves.
