More than a light switch

Being able to control your smart lights with an app is very cool, but sometimes we don't want to fumble around with our phones just to turn off the lights. The Tap is a perfect solution — it adds wall switch convenience for multiple zones in your Philips Hue lighting system.

Once you use the Hue app to configure the Tap, you'll be able to cycle through up to 10 presets for each of the four buttons. The outer ring can be used to dim and brighten the lights in a chosen room or zone.

Overview: The Philips Hue Tap Dial Switch (#578807) is a convenient way to control the Philips Hue lights in your home. The Tap Dial Switch can be hand-held or magnetically mounted to the included wall plate with no hardwiring required. The switch has four buttons for turning lights on or off or selecting a lighting scene, and a rotary dial for dimming or brightening the selected lights. The switch is powered by a user-replaceable CR2032 coin-cell battery (included) which lasts for approximately 2 years or more. The Tap Dial Switch requires a wireless connection to the Hue Bridge, sold separately, or as part of a Starter Kit.

Tap Dial Switch: The Tap Dial Switch uses Zigbee Light Link wireless protocol (IEEE 802.15.4) to control the Philips Hue lights throughout your home without your phone or tablet. During the initial setup in the Philips Hue App, you can assign single lights, individual rooms or zones, groups of lights, or light scenes to each of the four buttons. The rotary dial surrounding the buttons lets you control the brightness of the selected lights. The Tap Dial Switch has a magnetic ring on the back that lets you attach it to the provided wall plate or to any metal object that's convenient. The Tap Dial Switch has an estimated lifetime of 50,000 clicks and 12,000 turns.

Wall Plate: The wall plate can be attached to any flat surface using the included adhesive strips, or with optional screws. Two of the holes match the screw spacing of a standard J-box. The front and back of the wall plate can be separated for mounting with screws, then snapped back into place to cover the screws.

Philips Hue App: Setting up and configuring the Tap Dial Switch can be performed in the Philips Hue app. The app is available for Apple devices running iOS 13.0 or later, or for Android devices version 8.0 and up.
