Excellent Italian bookshelf speakers
Roger from Kamuela, HI on 6/4/2025
Excellent design quality and manufacturing excellence. The speakers provide midrange and highs clarity, and bass elements are also that way where I can differentiate between a fretted and a fretless bass. That to me is more important than a booming bass with zero clarity. My setup consists of a Quicksilver Audio tube line preamplifier and a PS Audio Stellar S300 solid state power amplifier which probably helps.

Fantastic audiophile quality speakers
Mark from Studio City, CA on 5/29/2025
These speakers are fabulous, and I never use the word fabulous. The sound quality is very clean but warm. The channel separation is outstanding. I am hearing details on tracks that I don't even hear using my $1,000 Sony over ear headphones. I did pair these with a Subwoofer, but honestly I listened before doing that and the bass response is impressive. They don't really need a subwoofer except for music that has very low end sounds in the 20-50 hz range. As with any "bookshelf" sized speakers, you need to position yourself in line with the speakers (the cones should be ear level) for them to sound right. But other than that, I defy anyone to do a blind test between these and an audiophile level floor loudspeaker and tell the difference.

Great sound, easy to drive.
Jeffrey from BIXBY, OK on 3/17/2025
Great speakers and easy to drive. I had the Lumina I speakers but they were just a bit too small for my listening room. They did sound great for near field listening. So, Crutchfield helped me setup a return and I am now enjoying the Lumina II speakers. I drove them with my Denon PMA 600 NE and my Naim 5si integrated amps. Both did a great job with the overall edge going to the Naim 5si. I don't think I will need anything for a while now that I have these. Thanks to Crutchfield.

Looks beautiful.
Socrates from Bronx, NY on 12/30/2024
Speakers sound pretty good. I feel that they are a bit too bright and they have that smaller speaker sound. They definitely need a subwoofer to give it that full range sound which to me it still sounded like a smaller speaker. They did sound way better. Maybe is the fact that I got Paradigm founders 120h tower speakers that sound so full and bass is so powerful that I couldn't get into these speakers. I always missed my speakers every time I listened to these speakers. Definitely not fair to these speakers.
Pros: Great look in compact size.
Cons: Need Subs and may be a bit bright.

Sublime Sound And Frequency Response
Dennis from Prescott Valley, AZ on 12/18/2024
For it's size it's a great speaker. Incredible clarity across the board. The bass reproduction is just smooth and deep. I had these connected to my system in the living room and filled the room with sound. The connecting equipment: the Arcam Solo Uno a pair of Audioquest Rocket 88 and a Audioquest Niagra 1000 power conditioner. Sublime sound from a fairly inexpensive hi fi system. Sounds like a much higher premium hi fi system. One last note, sound was a bit harsh on the higher frequencies without the power filter.
Pros: Everything the reviews promised
Cons: My need a subwoofer in larger rooms.

Lovely cabinet with mediocre sound
Fred from HOUSTON, TX on 12/4/2024
I am rating these on based on price to value. The black model is quite lovely in fit/finish, no complaints there. I like the pleather wrap. Magnetic grills are also nice. The sound however, is not significantly better than speakers half the price in my experience. Instrument separation is not there and treble is a bit harsh. If SQ is a priority, I suggest looking elsewhere and saving some cash, or moving up to the $2k level bookshelf options for a truly hifi experience you won't find here.
Pros: Nice finishing, manageable size
Cons: Tone is not engaging

A Bookshelf King
Connor from Canton, GA on 11/26/2024
Picked up these bookshelf speakers after hearing great reviews about them from various sources. Also purchased the B&W 606 S3 and ELAC Debut 3.0 to compare and see which I liked best. The Lumina II blew the others out of the water in my opinion. The detail and dynamic range from these speakers is unmatched. The cabinets are absolutely stunning and look great placed on my bookshelf. Would highly recommend. Will likely be pickup up a sub soon to fill out the low end. They sound a little thin at times but to be expected from a speaker of this size
Pros: Amazing detail and beautiful cabinet
Cons: None

Disappointed
William from Albuquerque, NM on 11/24/2024
These are attractive small speakers, but I was totally unprepared for how bright they are. I thought that I had done my homework before I purchased them, and I knew they were on the bright side, but were usually described as "bright but not harsh". My description after listening to them many hours this past week would be "extremely bright and frequently harsh." My amplifier is the Rotel A14 mk ii, which might contribute to the brightness. On the positive side, they sound very good with acoustic music. The sound stage is very nice and they are not too picky on how they are positioned. Bass is good for such a small speaker.
Pros: Clean, detailed sound
Cons: Extremely bright and harsh

Lumina II's illuminate!
James from Traverse City, MI on 8/19/2024
I was looking for a smaller set of speakers because of limited space (wife imposed ??). I started searching for a set of bookshelf size speakers that could give me the depth and quality of sonic performance that might come close to my Klipsch Heresy IVs. Crazy, I know. However, these Sonus Faber lukiba IIs come pretty darn close. I am not going to blow any roofs over off, but powered by 125 watts from my Marantz M1, I am incredibly satisfied! Knowing these are only going to get better after I break them in gives me goose bumps. I ordered several other similar size speakers at the same time so I compare and honestly nothing else came close. When it comes time to revamp my big system in the pool table room, I will definitely be looking at Sonus Faber Floor standing speakers. Thanks Lee for the superb Crutchfield service I have come to rely on over the years!
Pros: Quality build with bi-wiring option. Sexy styling.
Cons: None

Sit back and enjoy
Steven from Palm Bay, FL on 6/4/2024
Wow... just wow. I'm new to home speakers. I had a local guy show me these and he told me to reach out to Crutchfield to get a pair. The clarity is amazing. I will be adding a sub, but for mids and highs these little speakers pack big sound. My room needs them pulled away about 5 feet from the wall which I will only do when I plan to sit and listen. Up against the wall is good just limited sound stage. These will not disappoint.
Pros: Feels and sounds like quality Comes with bridge jumper installed
Cons: Need to pull them away 4-5 feet from the wall

Sonus Faber Lumina II near field
Ricardo from Abilene, TX on 6/2/2024
The Sonus Faber Lumina II is a speaker with great definition, clean low bass (needs a subwoofer but it blends really good with a musical sub), very defined mids and highs. I have speakers before that add impact to the low frequencies but the Luminas will also add this attack to the mid and high frequencies, as such you will find yourself going through your music library all over again discovering new nuances. Luminas have a great soundstage, with a good subwoofer becomes three-dimensional, clear male and female voices. If I have to use one word to describe them it would be 'clean'. I use them for near listening in my office, 10 'x 11' room, paired with a VMV A2 Amplifier and Rel T5x Sub.
Pros: Low Distortion
Cons: Cannot fill a large room

Incredible sound
Michael A from HUNTSVILLE, AL on 4/30/2024
I was looking at KEF LS50 Metas. They are great but I wanted a little different sound. I bought and returned the Polk R200 reserves. (didn't like the ring radiator tweeter) The Sonus Faber Lumia II is the sound I was looking for. Very detailed. Even at low volumes, they are crystal clear. They are Great for TV and movies, dialogue is easy to follow. I tried them on 30" stands with the tweeter a little above ear level, and on 24" stands with the tweet a couple inches below my ears and preferred the latter. I have them about 36" from back wall and 7 feet apart. I know many will want a sub, but I really enjoy them and have no plans to buy a sub. The bass is Fast. I live in a condo and do have neighbors to consider. For me, they have the perfect bass. My room is 16'x 16' and they fill my room with sound. I usually listen at 75/76dB or less. These do require some break in as well. I noticed the sound relaxed just a tad after having them for 3 weeks. These are hooked to an Emotive BasX A2 160wpc@8ohm 250wpc@4ohm.(controls the Lumia's far better than my Rotel RB960 60wpc I had.) An Anthem Pre amp. MIT Terminator 3 8' speaker cables. OLD Lynn CD player, and AppleTV Lossless for sources. Sounds really Amazing.
Pros: Absolutely Beautiful in person. Amazing Clarity, even at low volume. Front Port for those that don't have room to pull them out from the wall.
Cons: I maybe wouldn't pair them with a Bright / forward system.

Sonus faber Lumina II
Don from WASHINGTON, DC on 4/28/2024
I had these speakers for about a week. Sorry to say these were some of the worst speakers I've had in my system. They were very bright and the tweeter and woofer did not seem connected. I have several amps. Pass250 Accuphase 380; Hegal 390 and McIntosh 352. I own many bookshelf speakers, too many to mention here. I heard so many good things about Sonus, I wanted to try these. I prefer a warm sounding speaker and these were not it.
Pros: Nice looking cabinets
Cons: Bright and small sounding

Great for the size
Charles from River Ridge, LA on 4/23/2024
Great sounding small speaker. Tested it against my old PSB Imagine towers and imaging and clarity were excellent. But it is not a tower replacement. The weight of a big box is too much for these to replace. But they look great and sound great for a small speaker.
Pros: Imaging, looks, size, clarity
Cons: Not a tower so lacks some weight in A/B comparison. Not a fair test really.

Sonus faber Lumina II
Shawn from TULSA, OK on 2/22/2024
After watching many bookshelf speaker reviews on YouTube, I came down to these and the Wharfedale Evo 4.1s. The Wharfedales were good sounding speakers, but I felt like these were on another level. They were a MAJOR upgrade to my system. They have a very warm and enveloping sound and are very powerful considering the size. They also look AMAZING!! Five stars to Crutchfield as well for the easy return of the other speakers. Highly recommend!
Pros: Amazing sound and appearance

Love these speakers
Mark from Rockford, MI on 10/22/2023
Absolutely love these speakers. Bought them to replace my Elac Debut 6.2s. The Elacs are very good speakers but the Sonus Fabers are at a whole other level of high fidelity. The Sonus Fabers are articulate and have a great sound stage. They are just a touch bright but not to the point of being fatiguing or harsh, just enough to make them fun to listen to. The also sound great playing at low volume which the Elacs had a little trouble performing at. Oh ya, did I mention the Sonus Fabers are beautiful! I have the Sonus Fabers hooked up to a Cambridge Audio AXR 100 receiver I bought from Crutchfield and the combination does not disappoint.
Pros: Articulate, great sound stage, and sound great at low volume
Cons: Absolutely none

Sonus faber Lumina II
Barry from Jersey City, NJ on 9/1/2023
So far these speakers are sounding great. Despite their size the bass sounds really good for a shelf speaker and they look very nice. They don't take up a lot of room because they are deeper than most but not as wide. Front port is great for speakers close to back wall. would definitely recommend them.
Pros: Great bass for bookshelf speaker Nice looking
Cons: None
