Features

1.125" D.A.D. (Damped Apex Dome) Tweeter: The Lumina II bookshelf loudspeaker features Sonus faber's iconic D.A.D. (Damped Apex Dome) tweeter with a 1.125" hand-coated soft silk diaphragm and Sonus faber's exclusive visco-elastically baffle decoupling for exceptional high frequency reproduction.

6" Cellulose Pulp Cone Woofer: The Sonus faber Lumina II bookshelf speaker houses a 6" mid-woofer with a custom-made cellulose pulp cone blended with other natural fibers, a robust rubber surround, and a specially-designed, ultra-free compression basket for a natural sound that is both dynamic and linear.

Specifically Designed Crossover: The Lumina II bookshelf speaker utilizes a specifically designed 2-way crossover with Sonus faber branded high-quality capacitors for a smooth transition between the tweeter and mid-woofer driver with optimized amplitude, phase, space, and timing.

Bass Reflex Multi-Layer Wood Enclosure: The Lumina II bookshelf speaker uses a multi-layer wood cabinet with a real-wood veneer front baffle that is available in a Walnut, Wenge, or Black finish. The outer sides and top of the speaker enclosure are covered with a black synthetic leather material. The included cloth grille magnetically attaches to the front of the speaker. The cabinet is a bass reflex design with a front-firing port for greater extension in low frequencies and reduction of distortion. The front-firing port also allows for more placement options, allowing you to even place the speaker closer to a back wall.

Dual Nickel-Plated Binding Post Terminals: The Lumina II has two sets of nickel-plated binding posts connected by jumpers. Using the dual binding posts, you can bi-amp or bi-wire the speakers (make sure to remove the jumpers in this scenario). The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single only), pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and bare wire (up to 10AWG). The nickel-plated binding post terminals provide excellence signal transfer and resistance to corrosion.

  • Bi-Wiring: Bi-wiring can provide noticeable improvements in the overall transparency of your loudspeakers. Run separate speaker wires to the low & high frequency drivers from a single amplifier (the upper set of binding posts are for the high frequency drivers; the lower set of binding posts are for the low frequency drivers).
  • Bi-Amping: Bi-amping allows you to use separate amplifiers for the high & low frequency sections of your loudspeaker for greater dynamic range & lower distortion. We recommend that your separate amplifiers have identical gain to preserve the speaker's voicing balance.

Note: If you decide to bi-wire or bi-amp, you must remove the jumpers between the terminal posts (failure to do this could result in damage to your amplifier and loudspeakers).

Mounting & Placement Options: The Lumina II bookshelf loudspeaker is perfect for stereo listening, but is also ideal for use as front & rear channels in a home theater setup. The Sonus faber Lumina II can be positioned on a stand (sold separately - see Accessories Tab), bookshelf, tabletop, or other flat mounting surface. An integrated soft pad on the bottom of the speaker cabinet prevents scratches and damages to your mounting surface.

  • You should position a pair of speakers so they form an equilateral triangle with one another and the main seated listening position.
  • The pair of speakers can be "toed-in" and angled inward to aim the sound at the main listening area for a better stereo soundstage.
  • The two loudspeakers should be at least 6' apart from each other. The listening point should be at a height of approximately 3.625' off the ground.
  • It is recommended to position the speakers away from the corners of the room, and at a distance of at least 3.3125' from the back wall.

Note: The Lumina II does not offer any brackets, keyhole slots, or threaded-inserts to wall-mount the speakers.

Lumina Collection: The Lumina collection pays tribute to Sonus faber's historic heritage and are made in Italy. The Lumina series boasts the core values of Sonus faber with the use of its iconic materials - including synthetic leather, natural composition of drivers, and real multilayer wood cabinets. The Lumina line-up consists of two floorstanding loudspeakers (Lumina III/Lumina V), two bookshelf loudspeakers (Lumina I/Lumina II), and a center-channel speaker (Lumina CI). The Lumina collection delivers uncompromised sound performance that is perfect for a two-channel stereo setup or a multi-channel home theater system.

Optional Subwoofer: Add on a Sonus faber Gravis series powered subwoofer (Gravis I/Gravis II) for an even more immersive listening experience with bigger, deeper, and more impactful bass.

Q
Is this speaker compatible with the Naim uniti nova?
mabel  Feb 08, 2025
1 answer
A
These speakers will not work with the Naim Uniti Nova. It will only support 8 ohm speakers and these Sonus faber speakers have a 4 ohm impedance. We have product advisors that can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 who can help you build a matched system

Q
Would the Marantz NR1200 or Denon DRA-800H be sufficient for these Sonus Faber Lumina II speakers?
marc  Sep 05, 2023
1 answer
A
Both the Marantz NR1200 and the Denon DRA-800H are 4-ohm stable and capable of driving the gorgeous Sonus faber Lumina II's, Marc. Performance would be great with either model, though you may need to choose the slimline Marantz due to space constraints as it is a little slimmer height wise than the Denon DEA-800H. Keep in mind both units have a setup display over HDMI on the connected screen, so you do need to connect a TV to either choice when setting up and connecting to your Wi-fi.

Q
Would these speakers be suitable for a nearfield/desktop hi-fi system where the listener will only be three to six feet away from the speakers? (Particularly if paired with something like the Yamaha R-N800A?)
david  Sep 26, 2024
1 answer
A
It is recommended to position the two loudspeakers away from the corners of the room, and at a distance of at least 1 m from the back wall, DJ. The two loudspeakers should be at least 1.8 meters apart from each other. I would recommend using the Yamaha A-S1200 in the link below to pair with the Sonus Faber Lumina II's, it provides better high-current power for the best performance vs. the R-N800A. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_022AS1200B/Yamaha-A-S1200-Black.html
