Features

Two-Way Driver Design: The Elac Debut 3.0 Series DB63 bookshelf loudspeaker employs a two-way driver design featuring a 1" aluminum dome tweeter and one 6.5" aramid-fiber cone woofer for a consistent well-balanced, full-range sound with high precision clarity and impactful bass.

  • 1" Aluminum Dome Tweeter: Elac's proprietary 1" aluminum dome tweeter has undergone rigorous calibration to enhance its distinct acoustic properties. This fine-tuning process boosts the clarity, intricacy, and precision, capturing the dynamic spectrum of your music and movie soundtracks. Aluminum is renowned for its stiffness and lightness, enabling the tweeter to accurately reproduce high frequencies with remarkable clarity and detail. This newly developed tweeter design also delivers exceptionally fast transient response, improved rigidity, increased power tolerance and wider dispersion pattern, thereby elevating the overall audio quality beyond that of preceding iterations and ensuring a consistent sound quality throughout the listening environment.
  • 6.5" Aramid-Fiber Woofer: The 6.5" aramid-fiber cone woofer is known for its lightweight yet robust build, enduring sound quality, and reliable output. The aramid-fiber cone woofer excels in delivering low-frequency sounds, adding depth to everything from vocals to cinematic sequences. This newly engineered aramid-fiber woofer offers exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, advanced damping characteristics, and distinctive thermal conductivity. Coupled with oversized magnets and a 1.5" voice coil this innovative woofer design significantly enhances audio fidelity, ensuring a more precise and immersive listening experience characterized by tight and accurate impactful bass reproduction that is well-defined with minimal distortion.

MDF Internally Braced Cabinet: The cabinet of the DB63 bookshelf speaker is made of 16mm MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) and features internal bracing to enhance structural integrity, resulting in reduced resonances and improved overall sound quality. The strategically placed internal bracing reinforces the cabinet structure, effectively minimizing resonances and unwanted vibrations, thereby improving the clarity and accuracy of sound reproduction. This results in a more accurate reproduction of audio, as it ensures that sound is primarily emitted from the speaker drivers. The MDF cabinet's outer walls are covered in a black ash or walnut wood-grain vinyl finish with a satin black front baffle.

  • Bass Reflex Design: The MDF cabinet is a bass reflex design with a rear-firing dual-flared port for greater efficiency and bigger bass response.
  • Magnetically Attached Grille: A detachable black cloth magnetically attaches to the front of the cabinet.

Binding Posts: The Elac Debut 3.0 Series DB63 bookshelf loudspeaker is outfitted with a set of binding-post terminals which will accept bare-wire (up to 12AWG), pin-connectors, spade-lugs, and banana plugs (single only).

Mounting & Placement Options: The Elac Debut 3.0 Series DB63 bookshelf loudspeaker can simply be placed on a flat surface; like a table-top, stand, or shelf. Felt feet are provided to protect the speaker and your mounting surface. The feet add approximately 0.125" to the overall height of the speaker. The Debut 3.0 Series DB63 does not include a bracket, key-hole slot, or threaded insert to wall-mount the bookshelf speaker. It can be used in a 2ch stereo application, or used as your front speakers and/or rear surround speakers in a multichannel home theater application.

  • 2Ch Stereo or Front Speaker Placement: For optimum stereo imaging, place the speakers so that an equilateral triangle is created between the speakers your main listening position. You can also angle ("toe in") the speakers towards the listening position to gain a more focused central image.
  • Rear Surround Placement: In a 5.1channel surround setup, avoid placing the speakers forward of your listening position. The speakers should be spread apart wider than the front speakers. In addition, try to elevate the speakers to the same height or slightly higher as the front speakers for the most enveloping soundfield.

Note: The bookshelf loudspeaker should be placed 1' to 2' away from boundaries such as wall and corners. Close proximity to a side or rear wall will enhance bass performance, but being too close may result in bass that is unnatural. If a corner location is unavoidable, try to position the loudspeaker so that the distance to the rear wall is not equal to the distance to the side wall.

Elac Debut 3.0 Series: The Elac Debut 3.0 Series of loudspeakers blends exceptional sound and an elevated style at an affordable price. The Debut 3.0 Series consists of two floorstanding loudspeakers (DF53 / DF63), two bookshelf loudspeakers (DB53 / DB63), two center-channel speakers (DC53 / DC63), and a Dolby Atmos enabled loudspeaker (DA43).

Q
I have a Yamaha A S-501, should I use these speakers at 6 ohms, or select 4 ohms on the amplifier for additional power?
scott  Jun 27, 2025
1 answer
A
Hey Scott, you can just leave the switch flipped to high for a 6-ohm speaker and it will play where it needs to be with those ELACs.

Q
Will these speakers work properly with the Yamaha R-N800A network receiver that's normally set to 8 ohms impedance? I also use a set of Klipsch Reference R-50M bookshelves that are rated at 8 ohms. Thanks.
benner  Jun 19, 2025
1 answer
A
The ELAC Debut 3.0 DB63 speakers will work well when powered by the Yamaha R-N800A, Benner. Since you are already powering a pair of 8-ohm Klipsch speakers with your Yamaha, you will have to select either the Klipsch OR ELAC speakers (not both simultaneously) when listening as both pairs playing at the same time would drop the overall impedance below the Yamaha's 4-ohm minimum impedance rating.

Q
Will a 90 watt AVC receiver serve these well or do they shine at higher power?
jt  Mar 01, 2025
1 answer
A
Greetings JT. Thank you for your question. All speakers sound their best when you get to their maximum power handling. 90 watts is a decent amount a power, and these Elacs have a lower resistance. They should perform very well.

Q
Can I use an 8 ohms amplifier for this 6 ohm speaker?
ricardo  Feb 02, 2025
1 answer
A
Greetings Ricardo. Thank you for your question. That depends on the amplifier and its minimum impedance. If your amplifier's minimum impedance is 8 ohms, then no, we would not recommend it. The spec page of your amplifier's manual should list the minimum impedance. If it is 4 or 6 ohms, then you can use your amplifier with these speakers.

Q
How will my marantz 8014 surround receiver work with these?
phillip  Apr 28, 2025
1 answer
A
Hey Phillip, just to verify your model number, I think you mean the SR8015 for your AV Receiver as I cannot find an 8014 anywhere in Marantz inventory of the past. Regardless of model though, these new ELACs are some of the best sounding speakers of their class and price point. They are very crisp and detailed and when paired with Marantz's signature warmth, its a recipe for happiness.
