Deep, detailed in-ceiling sound

The IC-V81-W is the largest in-ceiling speaker in ELAC's new high-performance Vertex Series I line. A pair of these speakers has no trouble dishing out big sound in almost any room. You can have them serve as powerful height speakers in your home theater system. Or if you're more into rocking around the house, you can deck out your living spaces with IC-V81-Ws as part of a whole-home audio system. The included grilles sit flush with your ceiling, helping the speakers to visually disappear and let their sound do the talking.

Custom drivers and crossovers

The 'V81-W uses a custom-designed 1" silk dome tweeter and 8" polypropylene woofer. The tweeter delivers smooth highs, while the woofer handles the midrange and bass frequencies. Both drivers are connected to a sophisticated custom crossover network that ensures smooth transition between the two.

2-Way Driver Design: The Elac Vertex I Series IC-V81-W in-ceiling loudspeaker employs a 2-way driver design featuring a 1" silk soft-dome tweeter and 8" polypropylene cone woofer for well-balanced sound.

Silk Soft-Dome Tweeter: The 1" custom silk soft-dome tweeter has been developed for low mass and smooth, extended high frequency response.
Polypropylene Cone Woofer: The 8" custom designed woofer uses a polypropylene cone for its improved internal damping and smooth high frequency roll-off.

Multi-Element Crossover: A custom multi-element crossover with audio-grade components is implemented to ensure smooth transition between the the tweeter and woofer drivers.

Spring Post Terminals: The Elac Vertex I Series IC-V81-W is outfitted with a set of spring post terminals that will accept bare wire (up to 14AWG), pin-connectors, and banana plugs (single only). For shorter distances up to 25', 16-gauge speaker wire will be sufficient. For longer distances, 14-gauge speaker wire is recommended.

Slim-Profile Magnetic Grille: The included slim-profile magnetic grille allows for the speaker to virtually disappear in the room. The metal mesh grille comes in a white finish, but can be painted to match your ceiling. The slim-profile grille protrudes from the ceiling approximately 0.25".

Mounting Options: The Elac Vertex I Series IC-V81-W requires a circular cutout in the ceiling that measures 10.0625" (diameter) x 4.5625" (depth). Multiple "dog-leg" clamps secure the speaker in the cutout of your ceiling. Make sure to leave approximately 1.375" of clearance around the interior of the cutout to accommodate the "dog-leg" clamps. The "dog-leg" clamps are compatible with 0.125" to 1.0" thick ceilings.
