Overview: The ELAC Protek PB-12W is a strip-style surge protector with 12 AC outlets and two USB charging ports. Two of the AC outlets are arranged on one end, spaced apart from the others, to accommodate the wider "wall wart" AC adapters. Ten of the outlets are designated as "always on." The low-profile surge protector is only 1.4" high, and has a 6-foot power cable. The wall plug is angled so it protrudes only 5/8" from the wall when plugged in. The PB-12W has a black top panel and a white bottom panel and power cord. The PB-12W is covered by a limited lifetime warranty and a $100,000 Connected Equipment Guarantee.
Surge Protection: The Protek Surge Protector keeps your electronic devices safe from devastating power surges caused by lightning or power outages. Its internal technology provides up to 3600 joules of surge protection with a 1 nanosecond (1 billionth of a second) response time. It has a maximum spike current rating of 228,000A or 6 KV (6000 volts). It has a fire-retardant ceramic casing and a high temperature resistance. It features L-N, L-G, N-G protection modes and Thermal Fusing. When the Surge Protector is operating properly and prevents an energy surge from damaging electrical equipment, the surge protective component will disconnect from the circuit, and the product will need to be replaced. The surge protector has a top panel LED that glows to indicate when your plugged-in devices are protected.
Wi-Fi: The PB-12W is equipped with Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz band) for connecting to your home network and the ELAC Protek app on your smartphone or tablet. The app allows you to remotely set schedules, countdown timers, and turn on or off the two controllable AC outlets. The ten "Always On" outlets cannot be controlled.
ELAC Protek App: The ELAC Protek app is required for controlling Wi-Fi-compatible models. The mobile app is available for Android (4.4 and up) and Apple iOS 10.0 or later. You can also use the ELAC Protek app on your PC (Windows 7, 10, 11) or Mac (macOS 11.0 or later).
Voice Assistants: The two controllable outlets on the PB-12W can also be controlled by Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant. Using your voice, you can turn the outlets on or off, or set a countdown timer.
Power Switch: The surge protector has a power switch on the top of the unit. A short press of the button turns the two controllable outlets on or off. If pressed for longer than 3 seconds, the unit will go into setup mode. When the switched outlets are on, the power switch illuminates in blue.
Always On Outlets: Ten of the six AC outlets are constantly powered, and are not controllable by the top panel power switch, the app, or by voice assistant.
Power Switch / Breaker Reset: The PB-12W has a 2-in-1 power switch next to the power cord inlet that lets you turn power on and off to all 12 of the AC outlets and USB ports. The switch also acts as a reset for the built-in circuit breaker, allowing you to turn the outlets back on if the breaker trips.
USB Ports: The PB-12W features two USB Type A charging ports for plugging in your USB-powered devices. Not only will the ports charge your devices, but they protect your sensitive electronics from AC surges. The USB ports are rated at 5V and 2.4A total.
EMI/RFI Filtering: In addition to protecting your devices from power surges and lightning strikes, the PB-12W filters EMI (electromagnetic interference) and RFI (radio frequency interference), reducing the noise by up to 40dB. EMI and RFI can adversely affect the performance of your electronic devices, including your A/V equipment.
Installation: The corded PB-12W plugs into a properly grounded AC wall outlet, and can be placed on the floor or wall-mounted. Four keyhole slots are provided on the bottom for mounting to the wall or inside a cabinet. No mounting hardware is included.
Connected Equipment Guarantee: The ELAC Protek PB-12W Surge Protector features a $100,000 Connected Equipment Guarantee. In the event that damage is caused to equipment while it is plugged into the covered Protek Surge Suppressor, and the damage is determined to have been caused by a defect in the suppressor's materials or workmanship, ELAC will repair, replace, or reimburse the customer for the value of the connected products.
