KEF Kube 10 MIE
Crutchfield customer from Austin, TX on 7/5/2025
I'm returning the Kube 10" and replacing it with a Kube 12" (and meanwhile had purchased a second Kube 12". The 10 had nice controls and I really liked the wireless option, but it just didn't seem to put out enough sound. Possibly a problem in my big room but even with the gain all the way up, it didn't seem as much as my old Klipsch SW 110 (also a 10" woofer). The return was made easy by Crutchfield's wonderful customer service.

Musically Accurate, Quick Response, Room Filling Bass
Gavin from Lynchburg, VA on 3/6/2025
I originally bought the Kef Kube 8 MIE. I really liked the little sub, it was very accurate and handled dynamic bass in music with ease. I listen to EDM, this sort of bass comes up often. Well, I wanted more bass, so I looked around and found so many good reviews for SVS. I picked the PB-1000 as people recommended it for bass lovers. I was so excited, I'd heard so many good things about SVS. I plug it in and... it was muddy, it couldn't keep up with any sort of dynamic or quickly varied bass in music. It wasn't accurate what felt like most of the time. I was so confused. I kept it for about a week, changing settings, room correction, plugged vs unplugged ports. Couldn't get it to sound good at all. It certainly had more. Maybe as a middle schooler, I would have loved it. Sent it back, bought the 10 Kef. Yup. This is what the bass is supposed to sound like, this is what the artist wanted. It switches frequency quickly, it sounds the same volume, and it even fills the room better than the SVS. So yeah. If you're looking for a sub because you like to listen to music then buy these from Kef, the accuracy is amazing. If you want more bass, if you want things to rattle, and you don't really care if it's accurate or sounds good. With the SVS in this price point. I wonder why more people don't buy these Kef subs. Oh well, I like it.

I bought the previous model of the current CUBE 10 Approx 14 months ago. Paired it with a Marantz Cinema 50 and Monitor audio Bronze series speakers (5.1.4 system). The unit performed well initially, but developed a rattling noise at the 1 year mark. It was taken to a local KEF authorized service dealer under warranty. The service center duplicated the issue, yet KEF argues the unit is being over driven and refuses to honor warranty coverage or make it right with the end user. To prove its not the system setup or system components, I purchased another well known subwoofer brand locally. Like the KEF it is a sealed unit, with a 10inch driver, 300 watt class D amplifier and very similar frequency range. Performing only the initial sound test setting to dial in the suwoofers local gain knob, in the Marantz room correction, I tested the new unit with the same correction values (subwoofer gain on receiver at -3.5db). In the exact same location, and using the exact same movies in the scenes where the KEF CUBE 10 failed and rattled, the replacement unit performed flawlessly, with equal depth, and more clarity...and no rattling. I will never recommend or purchase KEF products again. They fail in their product quality as well as their lack of ethics in doing business. This issue is in no way a reflection on Crutchfield or Crutchfield sales/service. Crutchfield is a stellar company I will continue to do business with! KEF however, could take a lesson or two from Crutchfield!
Pros: Good sound initially.
Cons: Poor OEM service support. Failure to back their product. Poor build quality compared to other competitors when placed side by side with other entry line at a similar price point.
