If running this wire up in a wall with fiberglass insulation, does it need to go in conduit?

In general no. Speaker wire does not carry enough electricity to be hazardous, so most codes do not require it to be in conduit. The reason for the "in wall" rating is that if there is a fire it will not give off toxic fumes. However to be cautious, it is best to check with your local code authority. Also consider that if in the future the wire is damaged, and it is in conduit, it will be easy to replace.

I was required to include my installation in a L&I State electrical inspection and they did not require conduit even in areas surrounded by insulation. I would suspect this to be the case across the board, but review your state and local code to be certain.

No. Of course if you have the wall open & can easily install a conduit, I would suggest considering installing a conduit (that could handle more than just this cable) because nobody knows what you might need in the future. Having an easy wire pathway for easy installation of future low voltage wiring is always a plus. Bottom line on your original question: No. This cable can simply be pulled up the wall without conduit.

You do not need to put the wire in a conduit. CL2 and CL3 wire is rated for in wall installations. I do try to stay in a separate wall cavity from electrical wires whenever possible to minimize any potential interference.

I assume you got a 4 wire cable. Two wires go to one speaker, the other two go to the other speaker. It really dos not mater what color you use. The important thing is polarity. Make sure you use the same output/input on both speakers. You do not want one driver moving in while the other driver is moving out. For example if Left-Red on the amp gos to the red terminal on one speaker, then Right-Red on the amp must connect to the red (the same) terminal on the other speaker.

You have 4 conductor wire. The obvious (red +) ( Black - ) And for your question (White +) (Green -) So I used this wire to go from my amplifier to the volume controls for each room. (red and black being Right speaker) ( white and green Left speaker) From there you just need to run 2 conductor wire to each speaker. Make sure to label these wires Left speaker and right speaker. Always take the extra time to label all your wires at both ends. I hope this is helpful Ted

I used the "extra wires" to Bi-wire my speakers. My amplifier has two out puts that can be used to Bi-wire the speakers. On the speakers I removed the bridge and used two sets of the four wires for the treble signal and two wires for the bass signal. So you can use any color combo you like as long as you are consistent.

Assuming you use the red and black wires for a speaker, the white and green can be used for another speaker. In my case, I used the four wires to connect to left and right channels of receiver and on the other end a Russ volume control. From volume control, I ran 2 wire for left speaker and separate 2 wire to right speaker.
