About the Kenwood eXcelon KFC-Xr61P
The Kenwood eXcelon component speakers feature exclusive DualMag magnet technology. The opposing forces of two small, powerful neodymium magnets control the woofer cone for excellent clarity and precise detail without the need for a big, space-hogging magnet!
The rigid woofer cone (made from an injection-molded polypropylene/PBO composite) is housed in a non-resonant co-polymer basket for supremely accurate performance. The woofer's butyl rubber surround absorbs reflections from the cone's edge for clearer bass output.
The 1" Hypernyl dome tweeter may be surface- or flush-mounted to achieve the best possible stereo imaging (the tweeter can be angled in the flush-mount mount). And you'll enjoy ultra-clean sound at high levels, thanks to the state-of-the-art 2-way crossover network. Kenwood's K-Glow Tweeter Protection Circuit diverts power from the tweeter at excessive, potentially damaging levels.
The Kenwood eXcelon KFC-Xr61p component system includes 6-1/2" woofers, and will handle power up to 45 watts RMS (180 watts peak).

Note
DualMag Woofer Magnet Technology: Kenwood's DualMag woofer magnet technology uses two small but powerful 0.6oz neodymium magnets that improve musical clarity and detail by precisely controlling the cone. The magnets are placed inside the speaker voice coil with their like magnetic poles facing each other. The resulting magnetic repulsion creates a magnetic field that is much stronger and more symmetrical than conventional magnets.
PBO Pearl-mica Injection-molded Polypropylene Cone Woofers: Polypropylene is used for the speaker cones because of its resilience, fast response, and natural resistance to moisture. The pearl mica crystals are uniform, and form an overlapping structure that lends strength and heat resistance to the polypropylene. PBO is a high-performance fiber that has superior tensile strength, thermal stability and very low moisture retention. The results are tighter, clearer sound, reduced distortion, and improved reliability.
Butyl Rubber Surrounds: Butyl rubber has greater internal loss than standard urethane, preventing harmonic distortion at higher frequencies. It more efficiently absorbs edge reflections that can cause audible distortion, resulting in clearer bass performance.
HyperNyl Dome Tweeters: This component system features 1" HyperNyl dome tweeters. HyperNyl is a lightweight polymer with outstanding high-range response.
Tweeter Mounting Options: The tweeters may be flush or surface mounted. The tweeters swivel inside the flush mount sockets, but they do not swivel on the surface mount brackets.
Tweeter Mounting Dimensions:
Flush Mount (swivel) | Surface Mount | |
---|---|---|
Mounting Depth | 1.188" | 0.588" (screw depth) |
Mounting Height | 0.418" | 0.819" |
Cutout Diameter | 1.754" | NA |
Frame Diameter | 2.074" | 1.571" |
K-Glow Tweeter Protection Circuit: This tweeter protection circuit uses an incandescent lamp to divert power from the tweeter at excessive input levels. The lamp's impedance increases with heat, so, as the power to the tweeter increases, the circuit absorbs more power, continually protecting the tweeter from damage.
Selectable Tweeter Output Level: Each crossover has a 3-position switch that allows you to select the tweeter output level according to system requirements and personal preference. The switches may be set to "-4dB", "-2dB" or "0dB".
2-Way Crossovers: The crossovers feature a 5kHz high-pass network for the tweeters and a 5kHz low-pass network for the woofers.
Input/Output Connections: The crossover inputs and outputs are gold-plated screw terminals.
Mounting: There are two mounting holes in the base of each crossover.
Crossover Dimensions: L=5.125", W=3.541", H=1.506"
Warranty Note: This component system comes with a 1 year warranty card, but the actual warranty is 2 years.
