Power, grounds, and remote wire of good quality but the RCA Cable Is of lower quality.I could have bought these RCA's at Walmart. Consider putting your own combo together to avoid the rca. But if price is of importance, remember, you get what you pay for.

Pros: economical choice for beginner systems

Cons: rcas lack clarity, loose ends more than likely to blame

Kit's fine - needed another set of patch cables

Written by: MarkS from Sellersville, PA on September 14, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The kit was fine - good instructions and complete...for a 2 channel amp! Much dismay when I opened the kit after ordering it and an Alpine 4-channel amp (Alpine MRX-F65) from Crutchfield with the intention of installing over the 3-day Labor day weekend. Perhaps I should have known this - perhaps I should have been advised by my Crutchfield sales advisor who recommended the kit - I called on Friday and was advised that I did need another set of RCA patch cables as the kit only came with a pair for a 2-channel amp...really? Did not want to take the chance of ordering and not arriving on Saturday due to Holiday weekend so I had to buy at a local store. So for the hassle factor of having to still go out to a retail store and buy wiring - I give this a "4". That said, my local store did carry a complete set of various gauge amp wiring kits by kicker and the patch cables I bought from them were as good in quality as the ones in this kit - but much more flexible and easier to work with. (Price? +/-). Lesson learned. Amp installed and system sounds unbelievable!!! I'd still go back to Crutchfield as their advice remains the best in the business.

Pros: Quality and completeness of kit

Cons: Still need another set of RCA patch cables if installing a 4-channel amp - be aware!

What can you say, the kit is built of quality products. The RCA connections are super tight to the back of my head unit which is great so they won't come loose. Cable is covered nice with a think layer of plastic, Not the most flexible but I understood that before I bought it, but thats what more expensive kits are for but you pay extra for flexibility. Nothing a hot hair dryer can't fix. Great kit and the extra 100A fuse was a nice touch.

Pros: Extra Fuse, Quality 4 AWG cable

Cons: None that I could tell...all connections were great

I only chose this kit because it was free with my amp. Turns out this kit was perfect and contained everything I needed. The only thing it doesnt come with is speaker wire for between the amp and the speaker. I wouldnt expect the kit to include this anyway, because some installs need 3 feet, and others need 50 feet.

Pros: Qualyty cables with nice appearance.

Cons: Some people say the wires are a little short, but they were just right for reaching my Toyota Tundra Extended Cap pickup backseat floor, I would say they are long enough for 90% of installations.

I used this kit to install an amp in my 2009 Dodge Mega Cab. All the wires were long enough to go from the radio all the way to behind the rear seat in the middle of the cab. I ran power down one side and cables down the other under kick panels. Zero noise. The kit came with two 100 amp fuses but Crutchfield can get you different amp fuses if you need them.

Pros: Good quality kit

Cons: None

Good Kit, Could be Better

Written by: Joe from USA on October 25, 2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If your focus is on hooking up amp power and signal input and making it look and perform like a professional installation than this is a very good quality kit that gets the job done well. I did a lot of shopping on other sites and this kit was definitely the right choice. I had confidence I was getting a great product up front because it's from Crutchfield and you know they stand behind it. The downside is the power cable is barely long enough for a midsize car. This kit went into a 2002 Camry and I routed the power as efficiently as possible and it just barely made it to my amp in the trunk pushed up against the rear seat backs There was zero margin. Another foot or two of power cable is really needed if you run into any issues at all when routing in engine compartment or thru firewall. Had to reposition several times to make it work. One other thing to look out for is that the power cable wasn't well seated in the fuse holder. It popped out during installation. Be sure to check the tightness of the allen head screws. Could be a world of hurt if the cable slips out after you are hot.

Pros: Good quality wire and components, includes eveything you need for power and input signal.

Cons: Power cable just barely long enough. Allen screws not tightened well on fuse holder.

This kit did just the job for me. Great in a super cab truck. The wires are proably too short for a passenger car. I gave it three stars because Crutchfield's website and the support team both say it includes a 100 amp fuse. It does not!!! And in a small town they are hard to come by. This delayed me 4 days over a long weekend.:(

Great Kit!

Written by: BrendanG from Middleboro, MA on February 18, 2011

I used this kit to wire up my 1998 Ford Ranger and it was easy as heck! The fuse
block never came undone for me like other say, but all I did was screw it into a
piece of plastic near my battery, installed the fuse and did not touch it.

I took the remote wire, and connected it to my other amp, not best practice but
saves me to rip up my carpet after I forgot that.

The wire is as flexible as you can get at this size, some people don't realize
how much power they are moving, but it did tuck right into my carpet no problem.

I blew one of the fuses while installing my capacitor(didn't use charge circuit)
so my fault there, but after that I have yet to blow a fuse. I have an infinity
reference 600W mono amp, and JVC 2 channel amp for my rear speakers, and no
issues powering both of these. My lights don't dim, cables always cool to the touch.

The RCA cables are fine, plenty of plastic on them don't let that fool you, more
plastic is not more shielding. Keep these as far away as you can from your power
cable. However no where in my system is static an issue so I can't dock any
points for that.

So, Easy Install, very straightforward process. If this seriously confuses you,
please call an adviser or a friend who knows what they are doing. You are
playing with your car's electrical system and a lot of power. Also DISCONNECT
your negative terminal! Everyone says do it, for a good reason. That will kill
power on the line, less chance to shock yourself.

EFX 4-gauge Amplifier Wiring Kit

Written by: Anonymous from Mansfield, MA on June 7, 2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Kit arrived quickly so thats a star for Crutchfield. Kit was complete no
missing parts but would have liked to have seen more terminal connectors in the
kit than what it had like banana terminals etc. 4Guage wires are what my
800watt amp called for in the manual although I would have been able to go
8Gauge since power source is actually in my trunk not under the hood so the amp
is less than 3 feet from it.

Like a previous customer posted one end of the fuse block came out during
installation, just needed to be re-inserted and tightened and the fuse hold
cover comes off way too easily (I know not an issue once its mounted.) I had to
cut down the ends of the cables diameter to get it to fit in the term block of
the amp cause It was too big, which is funny since thats what the amp called
for. (not Scorches fault.) but it was workable. Good quality cables. Just
removing one star due to the feel of the fuse block.

Its a good kit overall.

The wires weren't that flexible, but there manageable.

The remote wire was very thin and ended up breaking, and the rcas werent the best quality but they work..

and i replaced the use with a 200 amp breaker so i dont have to constantly buy new fuses each time one blows.

I installed the kit pretty quick. I had a lot of power ,ground, and rca wire left over, maybe because my car is a coupe. But overall a good cheap buy. Only problem is that the fuse holder looks kinda cheap and one end doesn't hold the power wire tight so it comes out( bought some electrical tape and took care of it), another problem was that my kit didn't come with any fuses but I called and they are sending me 2 fuses overnight, great customer service!.. The wire ties suck but you really don't need em so just throw em out. (break easily) but other than what i mention its a good kit, i would recommend this..

My advice is to skip this kit and spend the extra bucks on a better one. Wire is good in this kit. But terminals and fuseblock is cheap. The wire came pre-crimped for the battery connection and was too short for my truck. I would have rather them not crimp it and let me decide the length. you don't want to have a huge lead in front of the fuse, but I just needed 4 more inches. Cable ties are worthless. Butt connectors wouldn't crimp right and came loose.

Great kit for the price. I run a install shop and have not found a better value on the market. The zip ties in the kit are worthless. I was able to crimp the connectors with an average set of pliers but you better have strong hands they are heavy made. Thats exactly what you should want though. Make sure you buy speaker wire and zip ties. You also want to possibly order another fuse when you purchase your kit I have not seen the type of fuse in this kit available at any local parts store. The wires are blue and spruce up any engine compartment. It comes with ample amount of wiring, conectors, remote wire pretty much everything you need but what I listed above. Dont buy lower grade wires than this even for small watt aplilcations. You will either blow fuses or overheat your amp everytime you turn the volume up for extended periods. Even if you can find a kit cheaper with the same quality I would still recommend spending the few extra bucks and buy from crutchfeild their customer support is top notch If they cant answer your questions your probally shouldnt even try it.

First Time Installing An Amp

Written by: Steve from Montrose, Co on April 28, 2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have never installed an amp before and this kit was perfect. My kit came
with an extra fuse even though another reviewer says his did not. There
were plenty of zip ties and the lengths of the wires were perfect (of course
I measured before I purchased). The only real pain in putting in the amp is
finding a good spot to go through the firewall. I found a boot that housed
some other wires that I routed it through but I had to punch a hole through
the boot.. it actually worked out well, it created a nice seal.

I followed the Cruthfield instructions along with the instructions on the
wiring kit and it was smooth sailing. The installation looks professional and
I did it myself.

I do wish they included an extra fuse with this kit. Other than that, everything is beautiful. As long as you read the Crutchfield directions with this kit, you should be fine. Use as short a ground as possible, route the signal wires on the opposite side of the car from the power wire. The casing for the power wire along with the fuse holder looks great in the engine compartment. Just *make sure* you have the power wire inserted into the fuse holder properly or you won't be able to tighten the allen screw far enough and you will have problems putting the cover on the fuse holder. I still give this kit 4 stars because all the wiring is of high quality and I have no signal noise. Have fun!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Well, I just bought this product and recieved it in a beautiful package. Personally after installing my first stereo in my first car, I neither have the time nor the patience to install it in my second car. Got to give it up to Crutchfield for fast delivery and since it arrived with all my other items recieved free shipping too.

Nice wiring kit for the money.

Very nice kit, includes everything needed. You only have to crimp two ends for connections which will save your hands big time. Highly recommend over 8 guage wiring. Only thing you will need is better zip-ties. The ones provided are junk and break easily.

Used this kit to install a Profile HA1040 AMP. The 4 gauge wire was tough to crimp, but using a vise or vise grip gets the job done. One thing to be careful of is where the power wire goes through the firewall. Be sure to plan carefully. If you need to drill, get a grommet from Crutchfield to fill the hole. If you use and existing hole, be sure you have access on both sides to feed wire. (I know this is all common sense, but a little planning can save you a lot of aggravation.) Mine went smoothly in a 1997 Tahoe. Everything else was a snap!

I used this kit to wire up an Alpine MRP-M650 amp. All I can say is Wow! 4 ga. amp kit for this price is a great deal. All cables were long enough for the install in my '02 VW GTI. One warning though, be sure to have the proper tool to crimp connectors over 4 ga. wire.

Cool Blue

Great wire for a 1200 watt amplifier, and 2-800 watt 12 inch subwoofers in a bandpass box. Much better than the 200 watt max amp wiring kit that I had connected to the amp at first. Kept blowing fuses. Wonder why. Funny. The connectors to this thick 4 gauge wire, although quite tough. I've found that a good set of vise grips will flatten them against the wires.

Cons:

Easy to install

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was my first amp install & it went smoothly.

Pros: 4g kit @ low price. Almost everything you need is included. Plenty of wire & extra items are a nice touch.

Con: The 4g wire connections that need to be crimped are hefty. My standard crimper was not big enough to do the job & the connectors too tuff for pliers... Get a crimper big enough to handle or be prepared to get creative.

Bottom Line: Good kit for a great price. Wish the connectors were easier to put on or kit came with a tool.

first thing, it did not come with a fuse. Second, If you do not order an AFS fuse when you order this good luck finding one. I had to dig up and old fuse holder and swap it onto this wire. I still give it a 3 because the RCA's seem pretty decent and it was 4 gauge wire so they did at least get that part right

BIG WIRE!!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Almost everything needed came in the kit. The kit is great. Although the only problem is with a 4-gauge wire, there isn't any crimp tools easily found available and cheap. So... If there is room for improvement... They should either crimp/solder the connectors on BOTH ends, or provide a cheap set of crimp tools for monstrous wire! Other then that. It's perfect!

One of the components for my system

The kit was complete in as much as it had things in it (terminals) I didn't even use. The length of cable was good and I had plenty to use in my Jeep Cherokee. I am running two 8" JBL GTO subs driven by a 1200 watt amp., and everything is pumping just fine.

It worked in my lincoln tc, I liked the blue color. The only thing that would have been better was if the remote was held in the patch cables... but thats just a preference.

It works, buy it.
