Overview Details Customer Reviews Category Info Our take on the Lightning Audio LDDC1 by Buck Pomerantz Do your lights dim when your subs hit hard? Adding a Lightning Audio capacitor to your system can help solve that problem by maintaining consistent voltage to your amp during peak demand. This LDDC1 1-farad "stiffening" capacitor holds enough electrical charge to feed your hungry amp. Ultra-low internal resistance and High Gain Foil construction ensure that this capacitor delivers maximum power to your amp in an instant, taking the strain off your car's electrical system. The LDDC1 also features a digital display cap that shows your system's working voltage, and includes a warning buzzer in case the capacitor gets connected backwards. Features Overview: The Lighting Audio (LDDC1) 1 .0 Farad Capacitor allows you to help maintain continuous power to other devices, such as amplifiers, in your car audio system. Digital Display: There is a digital charge level indicator display. The digital display shows your precise voltage in 0.1 volt steps. Ultra Low ESR: Ultra Low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) allow quick power delivery of up to 10,000 amps instantly. High Gain Foil: High Gain Foil allows more capacitance in a smaller area through the process of etching the foil to create more surface area. Polarity Buzzer: The digital cap features on/off/reverse polarity buzzer. A buzzer will sound if the capacitor is connected backwards to ensure that the positive and negative leads are connected correctly. Auto Turn-On: The Auto-turn of feature turns on the digital capacitor's display during standard operating (voltage fluctuation). After 5 minutes of non-use (no fluctuation) the digital capacitor automatically reverts to sleep mode. Wiring: When installing capacitor, is is recommended you use the same gauge wire as that of the power connection to the amplifier. Ground the capacitor to the nearest chassis ground using the same gauge wire as that used for the power connections. It is strongly recommended that the capacitor be fused at the battery. The fuse value should be the same as that of the power connection to the amplifier. This fuse should be installed 18" or less from the battery. Note: If the capacitor is to be used in a multi-amp system, a power distribution block may be used between the capacitor and the amplifiers. It should be wired using the same gauge wire as that of the main system. Placement: The Lighting Audio 1.0 Farad Capacitor should be mounted as close to your amplifier as possible, within 18" of the amplifier, keeping the wire runs short to reduce voltage losses in the cables. Use the supplied mounting brackets to secure the capacitor as close the the amplifier as possible. Mounting: The capacitor may be mounted in any position; however, car should be taken to ensure the venting hole on the top is unobstructed at all times. This vent is a relief valve should the electrical polarity become crossed. Should the capacitor be damaged, fluid will exit from this vent rendering the capacitor useless. Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. Great product. Does everything its supposed to. Easy to install. It came with a little credit card sized "computer card". You can wire it up to the capacitor to let u know when it is fully charged or fully discharged. I chose not to use it. Seemed kinda cheesy to add it on. It works great without it. It DID help with the dimming interior lights and headlights at night when hittin the bass real hard especially at a stoplight at idle. 2 out of 3 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
