Overview

Our take on the Rockford Fosgate RFK4D

Your amp needs big power wires in order to deliver top performance to your sound system. Rockford Fosgate's RFK4D amplifier wiring kit supplies everything you'll need to send power and signal to two amps and your speakers. It's designed for amplifiers with fuse ratings totaling up to 100 amperes.

This kit includes patch cables and speaker wire for installing two 2-channel or mono amps — you'll need to add cables and speaker wire if you're installing a multi-channel amp along with a second amp.

The kit includes two distribution blocks, 4-gauge power and ground cables, 8-gauge power and ground cables, speaker wire, two patch cables, a fuse holder, a 100-amp fuse, and more. Rockford Fosgate makes these cables from 100% pure crystal-oxygen free copper wire so you can count on maximum signal transfer.

So I initially was skeptical about buying a pre made dual amp wiring kit. Only a few things was missing but I couldn't expect it to be perfect.

Worth what it costs

Jared from Georgetown, Ky on 4/23/2016

So I initially was skeptical about buying a pre made dual amp wiring kit. Only a few things was missing but I couldn't expect it to be perfect.

Pros: Very pliable, if you bend it and give it a nice little squeeze it will stay bent in that direction but very easy to straighten after wards. It exceeds most gauge regulations for what it is.

Cons: Kit did not come with battery terminals, nor was there a 4 gauge distribution block that kept it at 4 gauge on your split side. Not an issue. Would have been nice to include one of them considering I don't plan on using a distribution block for my grounds.

comes up a little short

thrax from usa on 4/17/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Quality components come up short in quantity. Not enough wire length for a mid size 4 door. Distribution blocks are nice. Longer wire lengths will be necessary for clean installs.

Pros: Nice stuff...

Cons: ...just not enough of it.

Solid set

laura from Climax, MI on 4/13/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If your are running speaker wire to 4 door speakers in a sedan you will need more speaker wire but everything else you need is there.

Pros: good price for what you get

Cons: I needed to buy more speaker wire. the insulation on the RCA cables is a little thin

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this for a complete audio overhaul. Wanted to run 2 amps, one 4 channel for component and one for subs. Installation was a breeze. Includes everything you need, including two distribution blocks. High quality wiring.

Pros: Easily powers two amps, no issue at all. Easy enough to install, and had everything needed to install two amps

Cons: Didn't include enough speaker wire. Not a problem if you aren't running new wiring for every speaker in the car, but with a powered 4 channel amp to my components, the stock wiring would not handle that much power. Had to replace all existing wire, and didn't have enough in this kit. I suggest buying a roll with this kit.

Not enough 8-gauge red cable

DIY'er from Florida on 6/4/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm mid-install and I have no reason it won't be smooth but my only gripe is the lack of 8-gauge red cable. There was a lot of 4-gauge but they assume everyone will be running all the way back and splitting there. I'm putting a class-D amp in the dash and then a sub in the rear. My dist block is under the dash. I had to go out and purchase more 8-gauge red cable to do what I needed to do. Also, including some of those self-tapping screws would've been nice.

Pros: RF reputation

Cons: Lack of 8-gauge red cable

Good wiring kit

Jeff from Morristown,TN on 4/6/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good two amp wiring kit. Easy to use for the most part it comes with everything you need to hook up two amps.

Pros: Dual distribution blocks for power and ground. Good quality wiring also extends the warranty on Fosgate amplifiers!!

Cons: Fuse holder is a little tricky but a great kit. It could of also included a capacitor in the kit because more than one amp almost always needs one.

Amp installing a breeze

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Made installing my two alpine amps a breeze

Pros: Everything you need for installation of 2 amps.

Cons: Need instructions for the fuse block on how to install the fuse. I figured it out but it would of been nice to just have instructions. Need more RCA lines if using multi channel amps.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It was sufficient for what I needed in regards to 2 amps

Pros: Came with everything I needed to setup two amps.

Cons: The ground wire was not long enough for the second amp had to purchase an additional kit to do the job.

Everything u need. Nothing u don't.

Pros: Quality

Cons: Price: Buy an amp and get half off and its worth it. Inline fuse holder: not water proof and, not that one would think it would be necessary, no instructions. Fuse doesn't fit in until u remove the Allen head bolts from each side of fuse connector.

RFK4D Impressive!

Excellent quality, nearly complete kit. Installed with confidence.

Pros: Quality, substantial.

Cons: Wish the kit included patch cable for sub and I wish the main power cable was about 3ft. longer to reach all the way back and across the rear of my F150 SuperCrew.

RFK4D Multi Amp Wiring Kit

mariotn23 from Coamo, PR on 6/6/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This kit comes with all the cables and connectors that you'll need to install your car amps. Cables are high quality and cool looking too. If you have never install stereo equipment in your car you should give it a try because with the owners manual, google and the vehicle specific instructions that the nice people at Crutchfield sends you to you email you should be just fine. Wiring is very important for your amps to get enough juice so this was a necessary investment. Highly recommend this item even if you have one amp for now. Who knows. With this kit additional amps will be a breeze.

Pros: High quality materials, wires, connectors

Cons:

Really Useful Kit

Mark from Marietta, GA on 4/27/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

All the cables had ample length for my install and even the 4 ga. power and ground cables were very flexible and easy to route thru the car. The only drawbacks, IMO, were the power dist. blocks did not provide or offer any covers for any unused output lug's, and the 8 ga. power and ground wires were not supplied with connectors to connect the cables to the amp(s). Other than these two trivial faults, the kit was fantastic.

Pros: All the cables had ample length for my install and even the 4 ga. power and ground cables were very flexible and easy to route thru the car.

Cons: The only drawbacks, IMO, were the power dist. blocks did not provide or offer any covers for any unused output lug's, and the 8 ga. power and ground wires were not supplied with connectors to connect the cables to the amp(s).

The Rockford Fosgate amplifer wiring kit was well worth the cost. It came with everything I needed to install my two amps. My installation went very quick do to having everything I needed in one kit.

Pros: Almost everything I needed was in one kit. Plenty of power wire and speaker wire. The junction blocks having holes so I could quickly secure them to the truck.

Cons: The only negative was I did not have the exact connertors to plug in the power to my sub.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Loaded with everything you will need. The 30ft of speaker wire was plenty for my 2010 Civic sedan (a set of components) and the 4 gauge wire was suprisingly pliable for such a thick cord.

Pros: Everything.

Cons: Only a little pricey.

Really useful, worth the price

Victor from Greenville, sc on 10/8/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The whole kit is well organized, and I had no issues wiring the power wire under the car. However I drive an 01 s40 so a larger car will have to go through the cabin. And put the fuse in on the main power wire before you fasten it anywhere.

Pros: Almost all the cables have tons on length and thickness. RCAs have plenty of length to

Cons: Could have more speaker wire. Distributor blocks takes the 4 gauge, but only sends out 8.

Well worth it.

Tacky from Eastern, North Carolina on 7/8/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great buy, got it half price when I bought my RF T-500-1BDCP so the price was great. It has all the gear to setup 2 amps and also leaves room for later additions. I have been using RF wiring for 12 years with excellent results. The wires is greater in diameter than the other brands instead of having a thicker insulation to fool you. Its very flexible and easy to work with. I am skeptical about the open side fuse holder as others are, but I am going to give it a good ole college try. Would also like 20 feet of 4 gauge instead of 17 feet. All in all great kit, great value, and would recommend it, and buy it again.

Pros: Great value when bought with an amp and get it half off. Great quality heavy duty wire, includes almost everything you may possibly need. Very flexible and easy to work with.

Cons: Wish the 4 gauge was 20 feet instead if 17 feet, unsure how long the open main fuse holder will withstand the under hood elements.

Awsome

Devan from Newnan, Ga on 4/2/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent. the distribution blocks are compact and easy to work with.

Pros: has alot of 4 gauge and 8 gauge wire

Cons: if your running speaker wire to crossovers you would want to but atleast another 8 foot of speaker wire

This kit was easy to use & definitely does the job, but it has about 80% more parts than I needed. If I could have bought just a splitter block and the 4 & 8 gauge wiring I needed, I'm sure I could have saved at least 50%.

The most important parts are of superb quality

aztekk from Tucson, AZ on 9/3/2010

The actual amp cable is of superb quality. Basically all of the hardware has a top notch feel to it... except the signal cables and the speaker wire. The speaker wire isn't even copper, it's of a silver color, and is probably some sort of inferior copper alloy. I did not splice open the signal cable, but through the translucent jacket, they too appear to be made of the same stuff. This is disappointing because these extra pieces are one of the main reasons I went with this kit. (I think this is the only kit with these extras) If you are getting run of the mill replacements for your stock system, I say use these included cables and wire. But if you're going with top notch components, it wouldn't make sense to these throw-in items. I will be ordering high quality speaker wire and signal cables for my system. Despite this, the kit is still worth the money.

If you have 2 amps to install, do yourself a huge favor and get this kit. I thought it was a little pricey at first, but for everything this kit contains and it's quality overall are well worth it. I had a single 4 channel amp, and was adding a mono amp for a subwoofer. This kit includes everything you need for a relatively quick and clean install of 2 amps.

This kit includes everything you need to hook up two amps but it doesn't include another piece of wiring for the capacitor as well as a third set of RCA's if you are running head unit with three sets of pre-outs. This is an excellent kit. Wire and distribution blocks are very high quality. If you're putting in a new amp, main speakers, and a sub as I did, this has everything you'll need to do the install. The speaker wire included in the kit is only single insullated 16 guage though... You might want to buy better, double shielded speaker wire.

ben from Lancaster, CA on 10/20/2008

I purchased this kit after having previous experience with the Streetwires kit. I must say that this is a good kit for the price. It came with two sets of patch cables and 30 feet of 16-gauge speaker wire. However, you would need another set of patch cable if you were running a 4-channel amp or a few 1M/2F adapters. Also, I really didn't care for the Maxi fuse because it was not fully enclosed from the elements. So I switched to the AGU fuse and fuse holder to prevent water damage. Overall, it is a good product.

Superb kit for dual amp wiring

drmstlr from Little Elm, TX on 7/12/2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This kit has everything you will need to wire up two or more amps, depending on their location. I used if to wire 2 1000W amps mounted on the back of the rear seats and had wire left over. The speaker wire was a little less than what I needed, but that was only one piece of the whole kit. My only complaint, and the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, there are no screws to mount the distribution blocks with.

1 question already asked

Kit will work for that. double check the required cable lengths [ JASON  Feb 20, 2014 ]
Absolutely. Crutchfield has thought of everything you may want to use in hooking up whatever system you choose, in any configuration. They have yet to miss anticipating the remotest need I may have in numerous setups over the years, and for a number of different vehicles. [ DOUG  Feb 20, 2014 ]
You need additional patch cord to run 4 channel amp [ CHRIS  Feb 19, 2014 ]
Yes it does. I used it for a 4 channel amp and a mono amp for a sub. It's a great kit, but I had to buy an extra roll of speaker wire to run since I was running a 4 channel amp. That would be my only complaint, because otherwise it's a great kit. You may not have to depending on your car make and the distance between the speakers and the amps. [ KEVIN  Feb 19, 2014 ]
