Protect your new tweeters from bass distortion and enjoy cleaner sound with Crutchfield's Bass Blockers. Each Bass Blocker handles up to 50 watts RMS with a 6 dB per octave roll-off.

The listed cut-off points are at 4 ohms. If you use 8-ohm tweeters, the cut-off point is half the listed frequency. If you use 2-ohm tweeters, the cut-off point is double the listed frequency.

Note: You can connect these Bass Blockers in either direction, as the built-in capacitors are not polarized.

Will this work for 80 peak watt tweeters?

Greetings Alexis, and thank you for your question. We go by RMS power. Peak is just a quick burst. Look at your amplifier's power. If it is 50 watts RMS or less, these blockers will work perfectly fine.

Unfortunately they aren't attached to these bass blockers like some of the others. We do carry the crimp on quick slides and you will see those under the "accessories" tab for the bass blockers.

If I used these on a 400 watt 4 channel amp that I am running 4, 8 ohm 100 watt PA speakers off of, would that cut the bass out so it can only produce what it is meant to as well as allow me to push them to full potential?

Bass blockers are designed to cut out bass frequencies. If you are running bass speakers you can run these on all 4, but if you still need these speakers to produce some bass, you may want to just control it on the amp

Could I use these in a bi-wire scenario for home speakers? I have a pair of 8ohm towers that I want to bi-wire. The internal crossover is 2.5k. I was thinking to put this filter on the speaker wire going to the tweeter to filter any lower frequency from traveling back down the low frequency wire and back up the high frequency wire. Would this make sense to do?

There is no gain by doing this, the purpose of having the dual binding post is to use a separate amps ( bi-amp) to power the highs and lows on the speaker. Bi-wiring allows you to eliminate the jumpers on the terminal posts. Another feature of having the dual posts is adding a capacitor or l-pad to tame the highs if they are too bright or prominent,

If the tweeter already has internal cross over then these won't help, yes the volume will be a little lower.

I see that these are rated for 50w RMS. My amp puts out & my speakers are rated for 60w RMS. This may be a dumb question, but are these straight up incompatible with that difference in RMS? Would it be a bad idea? If so, doesn't anyone know of any higher RMS bass blockers I could buy?

They are only rated for 50 watts because they are most often used in situations where there is not an amp. Does your amp have a high-pass crossover setting? This would allow you to simply not send the frequencies the bass blockers are supposed to be blocking making them unnecessary. If you don't have a high-pass crossover you can still use them. You just might damage them if you are pushing your amps to full capacity.

It depends, some components come with their own, or built in... I used them to hookup factory tweeters when I swap the door speakers and removed proprietary electronics which probably had a hpf...

Your crossover will handle the mids between the speaker and the tweeters, you would need them on lets say a front deck set, since those normally would be inline with your door speakers.
