The Bose TV Speaker arrived today. I replaced an 11 year old Vizio soundbar. All I can say after a 90 minute trial period is that this thing ROCKS! So.everything is relative, right? If you are looking for high fidelity spend more money. I don't want a home theater system. I have good stereo equipment already for music. This speaker is VERY respectable. Overall sound for music and/or movies is very good. There's variable bass control which actually works and I am very satisfied with it. Also the variable dialogue control is a highlight feature for me. I've had issues hearing some dialogue when it's over music or sound effects. That problem is solved. Very easy installation with HDMI into ARC input on TV. I have DirecTV. I went into settings for my remote and paired this speaker and when I power on my TV and satellite box the Bose speaker comes on too. Great purchase especially getting it on sale for $199.

Bose Makes the BEST ! Bought this ON SALE at $197 after "watching " the Price at $279 for a couple months. My TV Speakers needed a BOOST, Especially when watching Music Concerts over the Airwaves. Rich Sound, improvement on Low Level Bass ! It does just What I expected! Happy with my purchase, hopefully for YEARS to Come :)

I am a senior and had trouble with dialogue on the regular tv speakers. This is a case of you get what you pay for. That is, this Bose speaker system is good but not great. It definitely help understanding the dialogue -just don't expect earth shattering results. I wish it had a full size headphone jack, but oh well.

This is an excellent speaker for the price and size, as expected from Bose. Plenty of sound in our 15x25 living room. We use it without a subwoofer and it still has excellent bass. With our old soundbar ( a Yamaha), I sometimes had difficulty hearing voice clearly above music or background noise; with this speaker, not an issue - that was the main draw for me. The suggestion from the Crutchfield advisor was spot on. Highly recommended

All speakers need a break in period to fully hear their full effect. These are way better than any tv speaker. They don't have a subwoofer. So that's missing on the low end. But for a $220 speaker, they're good.
Pros: Easy connection, fits perfectly under the TV while using the stand, beautiful sound when broken in.
Cons: You can add a separate sub for bringing out more bass.

Delivers clear dialog.

I have trouble hearing the dialogue on my TV especially when watching movies. If I turn the volume up enough to hear the dialog all other audio is too loud. I resorted to having the subtitles on. I tried a more expensive and elaborate sound bar but it didn't improve the dialog situation. This speaker with its dialog setting really enhances its clarity. Just what the doctor ordered.

This was probably the easiest piece of electronic stuff to setup that I've ever owned. Plug HDMI into ARC port on TV. And done. My AppleTV just worked, didn't have to configure the remote for the TV or the soundbar, the Apple remote just worked instantly. I know the TV helped. But this was just great. It sounds very nice. I'm using it mostly for sports since I bought it, but will test with other things. The dialog does indeed sound much better. I bought it to test to see if it would work for my parents and will probably keep it and get them one since it is so nice. My TV is on an old CRT media rack. And this is so nice and small it fits right on it without hanging off and being unstable. Way happy.

Solid soundbar works well with Roku TV

Really nice soundbar, plugged into a Roku TV using HDMI into the Arc port. The tv immediately identified the speaker and did a nice audio video test to connect it. Definitely improves sound over straight tv speakers. Sometimes the unit doesn't self power and needs to be turned on with its separate remote, but from there all sound controls happen on the Roku TV. For the money it's an excellent addition.
Pros: Easy setup, comes with most cables minus HDMI, decent simple remote, affordable.
Cons: Would be nice if it included an HDMI cable, included directions simplistic for making sound adjustments.

Once again BOSE has produced a quality product at a reasonable price. Very easy to install and operate. TV sounds so much better and clearer in dialogue mode. Have not tried it with my Blue Ray player yet. Listening to my iPhone playlist now. Not bad at all for a small package!

Nice sound from a small box. Wish there was some numerical indicator that displayed when you are moving volume up or down. Haven't figured out how to operate the Bose from the main TV remote.

A typical Bose product - good sound and a clean, elegant design. I especially liked that the ARC HDMI connection worked as advertised. This uses a single HDMI cable to output TV sound through the speaker, and also control the speaker power through the TV. Using this connection, the TV and speaker turn on and off together, with a single press of the power button on the TV remote - simple and convenient.

Pretty disappointed in the sound quality. It's not much better than the tv's speakers. We had a bose previously that sounded much, much better, but it wouldn't hook up to our new tv ( that has no optic cable port ). Btw, we did purchase new blueberry hdmi cables for this new speaker, so I know it's not the cables.

For my small 43"tv, this Bose speaker is fantastic. Sits beautifully in front of the tv and doesn't block the bottom of the screen. Terrific sound and very clear.

Poor Reliability

Purchased this product for Christmas and it failed the next April. When ir worked the sonic quality was good and it was easy to use. Crutchfield support was excellent, as usual. However, when I called Bose for a warrenty claim, I had a service rep who I could hardly understand and she had trouble taking down the most basic information. After troubleshooting for 40 minutes, she informed me that Bose would repair the product but it would take 6 weeks or more. Not acceptable in my book.

Cons: Commercials are loud and surprising if watching regular TV and show goes to commercial. Mute is easy to locate on the control though.

This is by far one of the very best soundbars that I have ever had the pleasure of using, the quality is like none other so crisp and clear , yet bass is on point .. no reason to use anything else,, I only wish it was portable then I'd be able to use it everywhere, not just in my home.i give it 10 stars out of 10 stars.
Pros: Small,stylish and can be mounted on a wall or placed on a shelf.. plus Has a contoller with optional features including Bass adjustment buttons. For that extra BOOM it has a optional hook up in the back for BASS, along with HDMI(ARC) ,OPTICAL IN, AUX AND A SERVICE hook up ..

We have the basic soundbar. It is fine with clean definition. The documentation about the remote controller is rather skimpy. For example, there is an equalizer button for better speech that I thought would bring up something on the screen for me to adjust. Instead, it is a simple on and off switch for a preselected contour. Anyway, that works well enough for us.
Pros:
Cons: This is an apparent fault of the LE TV but after setting the TV for ARC, hooking up the ARC HDMI cable with the ARC port on the TV did not work. Fortunately an optical cable was included and that worked perfectly.

Nice size and great sound. Better than two speakers in the TV. Only flaw is that it loses HDMI connection periodically. It does connect up quickly when I have to reconnect. This is why I only gave 4 stars. Considering buying the Ultra model for main tv in the house.

I was very pleasantly surprised at the sound quality from this little sound bar! I don't know if I will need to add the subwoofer. I set it behind the tv so it is hidden and doesn't interfere with the tv remote control function. Why do sound bars block the tv remote control sensor?

I couldn't be happier with the Bose TV speaker! I had to purchase a new TV/DVD combo. The picture was fine but the audio was terrible. It sounded like a cheap tape recorder. It was hard to hear and make out all the dialogue. The soundbar was easy to hook up. One cable from the TV to the soundbar and one from the soundbar to an outlet and your all set. Thanks to this soundbar I'm now enjoying my programs in rich enhanced stereo sound. What a difference! And that's not all. I also activated the Bluetooth on the soundbar to connect to my smartphone and now I'm listening to online radio in rich stereo sound. This was definitely the best investment I made this year.

Disappointing. The sound is marginally better than my tv speakers. No WOW factor here. I was hooked by the price and by the name Bose. I guess to be wowed I'm going to have to spend considerably more than I'm willing to spend at this time. I was also advised by the customer service person that I would be charged a $12 return fee. I've returned things before and I'm pretty sure I was never charged this before. I asked her if this was a new company policy and she said no, they've doing that for years. I wasn't going to argue with her.
Pros: Build quality looks solid. Reputable company. Somewhat better than my tv speakers.
Cons: Not enough better than my tv speakers to justify spending $200.

Superb for its Size

Great value for the money. I use this strictly for sound from my TV, not for streaming music, and I have one in every room except the living room (where I have a Sonos Arc 5.1.2. home theater system). The clean bass that comes from this little unit is incredible. The TV's dialog sounds crisp, clean, warm, and the music in my movies/shows sounds superb. The soundstage far extends beyond the unit's length. If you want excellent sound from your TV in a reasonably-sized, one-piece sound bar, this is the one.
Pros: Fantastic, clean bass. Clear, warm dialogue and superb music. Can't be beat at this price and size.

I can better understand dialog with this speaker. The Hdmi arc connection is not so great. It works and then it don't work. Three different tech support members basically told me. That the Hdmi arc connection doesn't work that great and I should get used to it. I can exchange the TV speaker for another, but it will probably do the same thing is what I was told.

Cons: Don't count on controlling the speaker with the TV remote.

Bose sounder is working well. I had hoped the "Dialogue Enhance" would be a sliding equalizer so I could adjust the level to different movies etc. However, it is only a single click "ON" or "OFF" enhancement. But it is making the dialogue clearer and more understandable with that one click so it is doing what we needed it to do and provides a more pleasant sound all around as well..So that all is good. There is an occasional low short interrupted rumble that I have not figured out. It may be a specific frequency that is vibrating something nearby. Or it might be my imagination. Overall, the soundbar is a good investment.

Super easy install. This is a Bose thing- need to supply the HDMI cable as well as the optical one. I definitely hear a difference with the dialogue feature as I have reduced hearing due to the military and civilian work. I did not want to spend big $ for something I cannot appreciate. Reviews were spot on for a good tv speaker alternative

The speaker works great and I hear voices and music clearly since my hearing has diminished. The hookup was done in 5 minutes and works off the comcast TV remote so no additional remote is needed. A really great buy.

As others have said, old ears and damaged hearing, plus a new thin TV can make it hard to understand dialogue. Turning on the Dialogue Enhancement feature makes enough of a difference that I can turn off closed captioning. Setup was easy using the included 5' Optical digital cable.

Great way to improve modern TV speakers for under $200. Even the nicest TVs available have terrible speakers, this is compact and easily fits under the TV

As advertised ! - replaced my Bose Solo 5 which was easy to set up, this version was even easier using ARC . I guess if you wanted your neighbors to hear the bass thumping it might not be for you. But if you want great sound, at a small price, don't shy away from this product. This is the second Item that I purchased from Crutchfield - a Sony 48" smart TV and now this Bose They made it easy and told me that they could walk me through any issues. That's customer service with a capital C - 54 years in b to b sale I appreciated being on the other side of that line.

Old ears & damaged hearing makes TV dialog difficult for me. Was evaluating several different Bose soundbars and Crutchfield advisor recommended this unit. Might add that Bose soundbars were all on sale at the time (near xmas). Ordered this TV speaker and it arrived w/i 2 days. Setup with a 2019 50" Samsung Frame TV via Bluetooth (also tried optical & HDMI). Dialog improvement wasn't "jaw dropping" or "night & day" but rather a small bit, maybe an unscientific 5 to 10%. Enuf to keep the bar at sale price. Bar does give a wide dispersion of consistent audio and can fill a big open space with good audio.

Not working right

I bought this TV speaker for a friend and his family. He has tried many times to get it to work right, but has been unsuccessful. This is an embarrassment to me and a disappointment.

I'm very pleased with the sound quality, my ears aren't like they used to be, so this really helps with the clarity. For such a small woofer, I'm impressed to hear the bass. My only complaint is I can't get my AppleTV a remote to turn the volume up or down. I called Crutchfield and the person I spoke to couldn't figure it out either. Still, very pleased with the sound of the speaker.

I got this speaker as a gift for my parents. I needed to find something that was 25inches wide or less to fit on the cabinet they have their TV on. After talking with the experts at Crutchfield I decided to go with the Bose TV speaker, and I'm glad I did. Pros: Clear room filling sound. It's easy to make a speaker loud, but volume does not always equal clarity. This speaker is clear, especially once the bass is dialed in. Simple remote. It has the buttons you need and none that you don't. Dialogue mode. This is a real game changer if you struggle to understand what is being said through the cheap built in TV speakers. Simple set up. It was pretty much plug and play. Cons: For the initial set up the remote is almost too simple. It took some tries to get the bass dialed in. Cost. It's not the cheapest option in this size category, and if you really want theater level bass you will need to purchase a subwoofer as well.

My father has hearing deficit and would turn the TV volume up very loud. I bought this speaker based on Crutchfield recommendations. This speaker clarifies television vocal quality. Now when I visit with my parents, the TV is not loud at all. I would highly recommend if you have a family member with a hearing deficit. Speaker provides crisp and clear sounds. Bass is controlled separately, so if you want more bass, crank it up!!!! NICE .

I really like this speaker it sounds good and a sleek profile that fits in front of my TV the added tweeter makes a big difference from the solo 5 model and the bass is more than enough for the size of my bedroom I did buy a better optical cable the cinnamon from audioquest I went with that instead of the hdmi because the speaker handles dolby digital only. So if your looking for a simple speaker I would definitely recommend this one

This is a great improvement over using the built-in TV audio. The speech mode is great for movies or shows where it's otherwise hard to hear dialog. It's small but it is more than enough for my setup which is a room of about ~500 sq feet. It shipped quickly and worked great right out of the box without having to adjust configuration other than the audio out from my TV. I connected it to an LG OLED with the HDMI ARC connection. No sync adjustment needed. I appreciated the videos Crutchfield has on the product pages for this and other similar products which helped me choose the right sound bar for my setup.

Purchased for my mother, 83, who lives with us, has hearing aids. We noticed she was turning up the volume on her tv more and more. She couldn't hear the stock speakers on the tv, which were pointed backwards at the wall. Well, we could hear them through the house. It was time for a soundbar, and after answering the Crutchfield questionnaire about where and how the soundbar would be used, (Very helpful!) this was the one we chose. We all noticed a huge difference right away. She can hear the dialogue great with built in dialogue enhancement, and we no longer hear her tv at all. Compact and effective. Best of both worlds. Much lower cost than the other bar that was dialogue specific. We did not need or want surround, or heavy bass. Don't get me wrong, it has great stereo sound, very similar to our Bose wave CD player, which we love! Smooth and very realistic. If you want a soundbar to watch action movies, there are better choices, but if you just want to hear what they say, especially if you have hearing aids, this is a great soundbar.
Pros: Great Stereo sound, dialogue enhancement, Bluetooth capable, compact, easy to set up in 10 minutes. Really well designed.
Cons: The remote control is rather weak, needs to be pointed directly at the green light on the bar or it doesn't recognize. Battery is small, expensive, and will not last very long.

As I have gotten older my hearing has been more of a problem, and the audio on small flat screen televisions is not the best. I have always been impressed with Bose products and this device has lived up to their reputation as well. I can now enjoy both voice and music, that is part of TV programing. It is not a surround sound system but it is not nearly as expensive and it delivers great audio.

WOW!! I suffer from a hearing loss and tinnitus. I have searched for options to improve the clarity of dialog for TV shows or movies without spending a ton of money. This sound bar has filled the bill. Turning on dialog mode makes a notable difference. It's been years since I've been able to watch a show and not ask what someone said without having the volume up so loud the neighbors can hear. My first Bose device and I'm now a fan.

Perfect blend of quality sound and dialogue. The volume won't blow you away, but it's not supposed to. If you want loud floor shaking base and sound, look elsewhere. If you want good dialogue and quality sound that won't wake the kids while still being able to hear voices clearly, then this is it!

A non Bose powered sub woofer will not work with this soundbar. Product overview does not sate this. The soundbar has great sound without one, but you don't get that floor shaking fun of a sub.

My wife and I have been asking one another the same question a lot lately,,,"What did he/she say" while listening to our flat-screen tv. While producing exceptional video quality, most of the flat-screens leave much to be desired when it comes to audio reproduction. On the recommendation of a friend, I purchased the Bose TV speaker for our older model SONY Bravia and have never been happier with the audio. With the dialogue enhancing feature, we now rarely find it necessary to ask that familiar question any more. Better all around sound as well as the ability to actually decipher whispered dialogue and especially words which are spoken in a different accent. Great purchase and at the price we got from Crutchfield's "open box" option, we are very pleased with our purchase.

Tv speaker works very well,the tv speech clarity mode is quite subtle however it makes the dialogue more pronounced not just louder like other systems I have tested in the past and,I have quite a bit of hearing loss so it is a great help. Also the Bluetooth works well for streaming music the sound is decent even with a sub, which of course would enhance the bass. The only short coming is without the remote you are up the creek and the manual is very basic

I bought this for our bedroom tv. An outstanding value for the price. Sounds great and easy to set up. This is a nice upgrade to your tv's built-in speakers where space and budget are limited and a full home theater sound system would be overkill. An added benefit is the bluetooth connection, making this an easy, high quality audio upgrade for music and podcasts from your phone or tablet.

This speaker is extremely helpful. I have a 55 inch flat panel Sony TV. Great TV but in watching a movie recently I had to turn the volume up to 76. That motivated me to buy the speaker. As advertised movie dialog is clearer and easier to hear. What is surprising is that I can hear regular programming like newscasts across the room rather than in front of the television. I heartily recommend this very simple add on.

The TV in our bedroom is wall mounted. The sound from the TV was not great and the dialog from most of the programs was difficult to hear and we had to turn up the volume to get adequate clarity. So we decided to try the Bose TV Speaker. It is a great improvement over the TV's speakers. The dialog is much clearer and we don't have to crank up the volume. We also hear things we missed with just the TV's speakers. We used the Bose SoundBar Brackets to mount the Bose TV Speaker to the wall. See my review of the SoundBar Brackets.

Easy set up. Remote a bit fussy. Dialog clarity a plus. My older TV (11 years) did not produced buzzing when programs were not running so the TV was replaced. The optical feed is easy to plug in. Now to get the TV remote to also control the sound bar.

Bose named it exactly what it is useful for - a tv speaker, not a home theater speaker. Excellent mid-level sound bar for our workout room tv. Connected to tv with the ARC HDMI and responds seamlessly with tv remote or streaming stick remote. The Bose remote is only needed for adjusting bass. Dialogue is clear but we are happy with the bass output and music quality for such a slim, small unit as we didn't want a subwoofer for the workout room (and it would need to be wired to the sound bar). The bass is adjustable with the included remote. For streaming workouts on the tv or casual tv watching, this sound bar fits the bill. For home theater use or for larger rooms, would need a subwoofer and/or upsizing.
Pros: Good sound and surprising bass for such a slim speaker. Perfect for casual use in a bedroom.
Cons: Stand-alone sound is fine for smaller spaces like bedrooms and casual tv watching, but would need a larger sound bar and subwoofer for larger rooms and home theater use.

FINALLY ...the soundbar I've been looking for! My priority was dialogue. The two POLK units dialogue was severely nasal with women with high pitched voices and children. I couldn't understand most of what they said. A lot of my problem is probably age related.. I'm 78. This little Bose bar however, has solved the problem. It is amazing! I was concerned about not having a sub woofer but the bass is more than adequate! In spite of three returned soundbar purchases, Crutchfield continued to work with me. THANK YOU! Crutchfield will be my go to store for all things audio/video related in the future.

I bought this sound at because I couldn't hear dialogue when watching movies on a Blu-ray DVD player. It does the job and sounds great as BOSE should. There are times when the sound level on the sound bar increases or decreases after changing channels and mysteriously increases or decreases the sound when the remote is not being held or touched. Can't explain why it's happening.
