A hideaway hero

The Clarion CMM-30BB is the perfect receiver for small spaces and big systems. This hideaway "black box" receiver is designed to tuck out of sight and work with your boat's multi-function display (MFD) unit or select Clarion marine remotes. You can also integrate it into your boat's NMEA 2000 network. This versatile receiver includes built-in Bluetooth®, lots of connectivity options, and 4-channel pre-amp outputs, among other cool features.

Built-in Bluetooth® and more

With built-in Bluetooth 5.0 streaming, the CMM-30BB lets you stream music from your smartphone or any other Bluetooth device. You can plug your iPhone into the rear USB port and enjoy all your favorite MP3 or WMA tunes, plus album art. And you can also play tunes from your digital music player through the AUX input.

All set for SiriusXM®

If you're a SiriusXM satellite radio subscriber (or plan to be), the CMM-30 works with select SiriusXM tuners (sold separately, subscription required). You'll enjoy a vast selection of music, news, entertainment and sports programming, as far as 100 miles offshore.

Ready to go, ready to grow

Clarion built this rugged hideaway receiver to last, but it's also designed to deliver outstanding sound. The 5-band parametric EQ lets you adjust the highs, mids, and lows to suit your preferences, and you can use the built-in frequency filters and subwoofer controls to get the best possible performance from your system. The preamp outputs will allow you to expand your system in the future.

Four distinct audio zones

The CMM-30BB gives you four-zone audio control, so you can split the boat into four distinct areas to suit your needs. Each zone can be controlled by a compatible Clarion wired remote (sold separately).

Tune in terrestrial radio

Clarion's outstanding AM/FM tuner hauls in plenty of local radio stations, no matter where "local" happens to be. You'll also be able to get the latest on changing conditions from the NOAA Weather Band, including automatic reception of emergency info.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

Note: The CMM-30BB can be exposed to spray, but cannot be submerged in water.

This marine digital media receiver will not play CDs.

    Marine Integration

Hideaway Marine Source Unit: The Clarion CMM-30BB is a hideaway marine source unit that can be mounted out of sight and controlled via a Clarion wired remote controller or compatible NMEA 2000 Multi-Function Display (MFD) - all sold separately. The hideaway marine source unit can be mounted under inside your boat's cabin, helm console, or storage locker. The unit features integrated mounting brackets and comes with four screws. The CMM-30BB measures 5.625" (w) x 2.0" (h) x 7.9375" (d).

Marine Certified: The Clarion CMM-30BB features an IP66-rated weatherproof construction design that protects the hideaway marine source unit from exposure to water-spray and dust. Utilizing UV-treated, durable, marine-rated materials, the Clarion CMM-30BB hideaway marine source unit is built to endure the harsh marine environment. It is built to exceed industry standards for salt-fog exposure (ASTM B117), UV exposure (ASTM D4329), and vibration resistance (3.0G) - ensuring excellent long-term durability.

Note: The CMM-30BB can be exposed to water-spray, but cannot be submerged in water.

Required Wired Remote Control (Sold Separately): The CMM-30BB hideaway marine source unit does not contain any controls or display, and requires a separate wired remote controller (not included). All control and display functionality of the CMM-30BB can be accomplished via a compatible Clarion wired remote controller (sold separately). The Clarion wired remotes are IP67-rated which protects them against water submersion (up to 3.3' for 30 minutes) and dust ingress. The CMM-30BB features an attached 9" proprietary remote cable, while the compatible Clarion marine wired remotes feature an attached 8" proprietary cable. In most applications, you'll need to extend the reach between the CMM-30BB and compatible Clarion marine wired remote. A 6' and 25' remote extension cable is available (sold separately). You can add up to two wired remotes using Clarion's CMC-RC-Y splitter (sold separately) or a maximum of three wired remotes using two of Clarion's CMC-RC-Y splitter (sold separately). The maximum total distance of all connected wired remotes should not exceed 75'.

    • CM-R30: The CM-R30 is a full-function, wired remote control with an integrated high-contrast LCD segment display and back-lit rubberized buttons. This remote control perfectly complements the design of the CMM-30BB hideaway marine source unit.
    • CMR-20: The CMR-20 is also a full-function, wired remote control with integrated high-contrast LCD segment display and back-lit rubberized buttons.
    • CMR-10: The CMR-10 is compact wired remote control that offers basic control functions and back-lit rubberized buttons (no display).

Note: All of the wired remote controls, Y-splitter, and extension cables are sold separately. The Clarion CMM-30BB does not offer wireless remote control.

NMEA 2000 Certified: The Clarion CMM-30BB is NMEA 2000 Certified, allowing seamlessly integration with your boat's onboard NMEA 2000 network for control and two-way communication of the hideaway marine source unit directly from your boat's Multi-Function Display (MFD) device. Two-way communication between the hideaway marine source unit and your MFD allows source selection, song/track/album title, radio frequency and more to display on the MFD interface (including Garmin, Lowrance, and Simrad).

Note: Requires compatible NMEA 2000 entertainment protocols (PGN), and may also require a software upgrade of connected MFD device(s).

    Variety Of Sources

Bluetooth Audio Streaming: The Clarion CMM-30BB offers built-in Bluetooth 5.0 with support for wireless audio streaming (A2DP) and control (AVRCP). You'll be able to stream stored music, music apps, and other audio content from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or tablet to the hideaway marine source unit. You can also control playback functions such as Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track from a compatible controller (sold separate). In addition, some controllers will display song/artist/album information (no album art). You can pair multiple devices with the CMM-30BB, but only one source device can be connected for playback at a time. The hideaway marine source unit has a Bluetooth wireless range of 35'.

Note: The Clarion CMM-30BB does not support Bluetooth hands-free communication for making and answering phone calls.

USB-A Port: The CMM-30BB's USB-A 2.0 port allows for connection of an external USB MSC (mass storage class device), such as a USB thumbdrive. You'll be able to playback MP3/WMA (up to 320kbps) and FLAC/WAV (up to 48kHz) music files stored on a compatible USB thumbdrive (up to 64GB). It can recognize a total of 255 folders and a total of 9,999 files (3,000 files per folder). From a compatible Clarion controller (sold separately), you'll have control of playback functions such as Folder/Track List, Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track, Fast Forward/Rewind, and Random/Repeat. Some compatible controllers can also display song/artist/album information (including album art).

Note: The USB-A port does not support playback from Apple iOS or Android OS devices. The USB port also does not support USB hubs or card-readers.

iPhone Direct Connection: The Clarion CMM-30BB's USB-A port can also be used to connect your Apple iPhone with Lightning connector (iPhone SE/8 and newer), using the Lightning-to-USB cable that came with your iPhone or an Apple Certified Lightning-to-USB cable (sold separately). The CMM-30BB supports audio playback from stored music, music apps, and other audio content on your iPhone device. From a compatible controller (sold separately), you'll be able to browse categories (Playlist/Artist/Song/Album/Genre/Composer), control playback (Play/Pause/Repeat/Shuffle), and view song/artist/album information (including album art). The USB-A port (5V/2.A) will also charge your Apple iPhone while connected.

    • Not compatible with any older 30-pin iPod/iPhone models.

Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the hideaway marine source unit and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to wait until a newer software update is available.

Built-In AM/FM/Weather Band Tuner with RDS: The Clarion CMM-30BB features a built-in AM/FM tuner with NOAA weather-band capability. You can store up to 18 AM/FM/WB presets in any combination. RDS (Radio Data System) displays channel, category, and program information for select FM broadcasts (where available). You can select between US and European tuning.

Aux Input: The hideaway marine source unit's Aux input consists of a set of stereo RCA jacks that allow you to connect an external audio source for playback. You can adjust the hideaway marine source unit's Aux input sensitivity (-5 to +5) to match the output level of your connected device.

    Audio Section

The built-in 25W x 4ch amplifier is capable of powering a pair of speakers in two separate zones, while the 8ch/3.5V preamp outputs allow up to four zones of audio with selectable Zone 4 or subwoofer functionality. Each zone will playback the same audio source (you cannot playback different audio sources in different zones). You will have independent volume and tone control of each zone (1-2-3-4). Q
Will this unit work with a MW1 remote?
    claude  Mar 05, 2024
    1 answer
    A
The Clarion CMM-30BB is not compatible with the MW1 remote, Claude. Compatible remotes are linked below, the CMR-10, CMR-20, and CMR-30. You will also need the CMC-RC cable in the fourth link to connect, and y-adapters are available for multi-remote systems. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_020CMR10/Clarion-CMR-10.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_020CMR20/Clarion-CMR-20.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_020CMR30/Clarion-CMR-30.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_020CMCRC6/Clarion-CMC-RC-6-6-foot.html

Will this work with Furuno TZT12F MFD? Will the Furuno be able to control it?
    scott  Jan 07, 2024

    A
The Furuno TZT12F MFD features NMEA 2000 compatibility and should be compatible. However, we do not carry Furuno products and cannot guarantee compatibility.

    Q
Is the CMM-30BB compatible with the cms4 controller? I have the cms4 and the volume control stopped working in standard mode. However,It works if I switch to multi zone.
    mancho  Jun 26, 2023

    A
Greetings, and thank you for your question. JL Audio purchased the marine division of Clarion a few years back. The older model CMS4 will use a different cable from the controller to the hideaway box. I called JL myself. The new CMM 30BB will need a new version controller, and all new cabling, Im sorry to say.

    Q
    If spec a Clarion CMM-30 receiver, do I also need a CMM-30BB?
    george  Jan 14, 2023
    1 answer
    A
That is a great question, George. The Clarion CMM-30BB Hideaway receiver needs either a matching Clarion remote control like the CMM-30BB in the link below or a compatible NMEA 2000 Multi-Function Display (MFD) - all sold separately. The two pack of CMR-30 marine remote control and the CMM-30BB would be a fantastic choice! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_020CMR30/Clarion-CMR-30.html
