Overview: The Yamaha YST-SW225 is a powerful subwoofer with advanced technology for top-class sound quality. The bass reflex enclosure houses an 8" woofer with a 120 watt amplifier.
Advanced YST Technology II: The Advanced Yamaha Active Servo Technology is a unique system in which the speaker and amplifier work together to cancel out impedance so the speaker unit has a perfectly linear motion. By doing this, the YST-SW225 ensures the highest levels of sound pressure and overall performance.
QD Bass Technology: The Quatre Dispersion Bass technology uses down-firing drivers with square, pyramid-shaped reflective plates to radiate the sound efficiently in four horizontal directions. The reflective plates negate any effects caused by the floor surface and reduces resonance between sound waves reflect from the floor and the unit giving you clean and accurate bass response.
Linear Port Design: The YST-SW225's bass reflex enclosure uses a linear port to minimize extraneous noise which helps offer distortion free bass notes.
High Dynamic Power: The amplifier used in the YST-SW225 is capable of delivering large amounts of reserve power for accurate reproduction of high energy peaks needed for those extreme action movie moments that require a heavy dose of bass. This technology also emphasizes the dynamic qualities and provides a sharper sound image for music listening.
Driver: The YST-SW225 use an 8" multi-range woofer to create tight and accurate bass. The 8" woofer is also video shielded so you can place the unit close to your TV without harming the Television.
Enclosure: The YST-SW225 uses a bass reflex (ported design) enclosure to provide efficient and powerful sounding bass.
BASS: The Bass Action Selector System allows you to adjust the subwoofer's bass response based on whether you are watching a movie or listening to music. When the button is pressed "In" the YST-SW225 is in music mode and when the button is pressed "Out" the unit is in movie mode.
- Movie: In movie mode the low-frequency effects are enhanced to all for more powerful sound. The sound will be thicker and deeper.
- Music: In music mode the excessive low-frequency components are cut off to make the sound clearer. The sound will be light and reproduces the melody line more clearly.
High Cut Filter: You can simplify the signal path from your receiver to the YST-SW255 to reduce sound deterioration by turning off the crossover controls of the powered subwoofer. You would want to use this when your receiver has a dedicated LFE or subwoofer output with its own internal crossover.
High Cut Control: The High Cut Control is the low pass crossover adjustment for the YST-SW225. When turned on you can select between 50 Hz to 150 Hz as your frequency cut off point. Frequencies higher than the selected frequency are cut off from the subwoofer so you can accurately reproduce low frequencies without any high frequency interference. One graduation of this control represents 10 Hz.
Phase Switch: For the most effective use of the subwoofer the Phase Switch can be adjusted to match the sound phase of your front speakers. You can select between "Norm" (normal) or "Rev" (reverse). Select the better position by monitoring you system. The default setting is "Rev".
Auto Standby: This function automatically switches the unit between standby and power-on modes.
- The subwoofer automatically places itself in standby mode if it does not receive an input signal for 7 or 8 minutes. The power indicator will turn to red in standby mode.
- When the subwoofer detects a bass signal input of below 200 Hz, it automatically places itself in power-on mode. the power indicator will turn green when power is on.
Volume Control: You can adjust the volume level of the subwoofer to match the level of sound from the other speakers in your application.
Line Inputs: The subwoofer has gold plated left and right RCA Line Level inputs. These inputs are for use with electronics featuring unfiltered or filtered "Pre Out" jacks. It may require "Y adapters" to connect the left and right outputs of the pre-amp processor to both the subwoofer and the power amplifier.
Speaker Level Input/Output: The subwoofer has spring clips for the speaker level input and output. The subwoofer's low-pass filter takes the low frequencies (based on the setting of the filter) and passes the low frequencies out to the subwoofer while it passes the signal above that setting out to your speakers.

Installed this system to 5 rooms and my customer was so impressed he wanted more installed. With the controls in the rear your able to tailor the bass for any room and level you need. It has the power to handle any situation inside. Sounds awesome with Bose inside speaker systems.
