About the Focal ISU 130

Upgrade with Focal quality
Upgrade with Focal quality
You're ready: to do away with unbearable factory sound and to gain a totally authentic experience listening to music in the car. With Focal's Universal Integration Series speakers installed in your car, a new era has begun — one in which it's easy to enjoy every moment of your drive. Focal provides such a dramatic boost in sound quality by applying much of the same technology in these car speakers that they use in their studio and audiophile-grade home systems.
Superior materials and design
Focal's ISU 130 5-1/4" component speaker system employs a polyglass woofer cone to give you a warm, natural sound with enhanced strength for accurate playback with no added resonances. An integrated phase plug in the woofer improves sound dispersion for a better audio experience, no matter where you're sitting in the car. An aluminum/magnesium inverted dome tweeter, backed by an in-line crossover, delivers astonishing detail in the high range and integrates an acoustic horn design for an improved soundstage across your dash. Focal also gives you two mounting options for a smoother installation.
High sensitivity design
Planning to drive these speakers off a head unit? No problem. They're designed to take advantage of every bit of power supplied to give you the best audio quality possible. However, Focal's famous sound soars when powered by an aftermarket amp!
Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.
Grilles are not included; the factory grilles should be suitable for most applications.

Woofer
Polyglass Cone: The woofer cone has a cellulose pulp base and is coated with a uniform deposit of hollow glass microballs. The addition of the Polyglass layer significantly increases the cone's rigidity without adding much weight. This combination takes advantage of the accuracy and neutrality of the hard outer surface, but maintains the superior damping characteristics of the cellulose pulp.
Surround: The butyl rubber surround is resistant to ultraviolet rays, temperature extremes, and humidity to add to the speaker's reliability and longevity.
Phase Plug: The bullet-shaped phase plug in the center of the woofer ensures a smooth, flat off-axis frequency response by preventing the high frequency sound waves emanating from one side of the cone from interfering with sound waves from the other side of the cone.
Tweeter
Inverted Dome Tweeter: The tweeter is an inverted aluminum and magnesium dome, producing a broad sound stage. The tweeter has a Neodymium magnet to provide a powerful magnetic field for the voice coil, while still maintaining the tweeter's compact dimensions.
Note: When flush mounted, the tweeters are pressure fit into the opening, with nothing holding them from behind, so the cutout diameter is very important.
Mounting Options: The tweeters include flush mount and angled surface mount housings:
Flush Mount | Angled Surface Mount | |
---|---|---|
Mounting Height | 0.312" | 2.105" |
Mounting Depth | 0.658" | 0.875" (screw depth) |
Frame Diameter | 1.957" | N/A |
Cutout Diameter | 1.74" | N/A |
Width | N/A | 1.968" |
Surface Depth | N/A | 3.114" |
Crossovers: The included 18" tweeter wires have integrated crossovers. The tweeter ends of the wires have quick-slide terminals that easily connect to the wires soldered to the tweeters. The input end of each wire has three leads, a negative and two positives. The positive leads are labeled Car and Display, with a lower output level from the Car lead (useful because the placement of the woofer in a typical car installation requires the tweeter output be lowered to maintain a balanced sound).

Great set of speakers, cool to see the cone move while the center point stays still. I installed these in my work truck as the stock ones would crackle at high volume. Only thing I wish is that it had more bass, but that's expected with this size and only having 2 speakers in the whole truck.
