Great Unit. Install had a supplied kit issue
Anthony from FORT MILL, SC on 7/24/2023
2004 Pontiac Vibe
I just wanted to supply some feedback. I installed a new Boss 660BRGB in my 2004 Pontiac Vibe with 6 speakers. Works great. Brightness is a little dim in daylight on all but White. But I had some difficulty during installation. The adaptor connector that came with the kit had the blue wire pre-shrink tipped as if not used. But it needed to be connected. Should have been pre spliced instead. The factory AMP will not work without it. Once I connected it unit works as expected.
Pros: Looks and Sound Great. Trim kit fit flawless.
Cons: Illumination is dim in the daylight on all but white. Install kit blue wire was pre-shrink tipped making it like it was not needed but it was.

Truly excellent sound at a great price!

2005 Ford F-150
Installed a Boss 660BRGB in my 2005 Ford F-150 XLT Supercab as a replacement for the factory unit that had a failed CD ejector. I integrated the head unit with two pairs of Rockford Fosgate Punch P1683 speakers in both the front and rear doors replacing the factory speakers that were blown. The sound clarity is impressive and there is no discernible distortion playing rock music at the full volume setting of 40 while setting the preset equalizer to "Rock". I was truly surprised that 25W RMS per channel would provide that much undistorted volume and respectable bass without a subwoofer or external amp. Installation was a breeze for the head unit as well as the speakers due to the head unit trim kit and wiring adapters that Crutchfield provided, the clear instructions in the free MasterSheets, and a couple very helpful YouTube videos. I now have outstanding sound quality for a total of ~$300 (Boss 660BRGB for $99.99 + Rockford Fosgate Punch P1683 for $99.99 a pair X 2). I'm a long-standing Crutchfield customer and this is the reason ... quality equipment at reasonable prices plus excellent selection and installation assistance.
Pros: Excellent sound for a very reasonable price. Easy installation.
Cons: Difficult to see the display in bright sunlight.

The unit is nice for an entry level head unit and an upgrade from factory. Not very adjustable as far as EQ. The extra power does really help even low end speakers. Volume knob stopped working within 10 minutes, but Crutchfield accepted the return, very easy process. 4 stars if it wasn't for the mechanical issue.

I got this for a graduation gift and installed it in my car with the help of my grandfather. Neither of us had done anything like this before so it took us a while but it was a lot of fun. The stereo looks and sounds amazing except for the gaps because the spacers didn't fit. This was probably because the brackets that it came with didn't fit so we had to use the stock ones that came with my 2003 4runner which are slightly thicker. But over all the product is amazing.

Cons: supports didnt fit so had to use stock ones, causes fillers to not fit

Great radio, but needs some improvement
Crutchfield customer from ARKANSAW, WI on 10/21/2022
2003 Ford F-150
My one complaint is that after a couple of months, I lost the ability to manually trigger my voice assistant and get into the menu to change the color, sound mode, and manual equalizer from the radio unit itself. I can still get into the menu via the remote, but it's more of a nightmare because I have to keep track of the remote. I also ran into an issue where the sun made the radio go a little haywire because of the IR receiver. My solution was tinting the windows on my truck.
Pros: great sound for a cheap bluetooth radio
Cons: the sun can interfere with the IR receiver and make things act weird

This unit was a nice replacement for my 18 year old Honda CRV's ancient 6 cd changer/cassette player. Installation was a breeze. It fit snugly and the mounting bracket from the old unit also fit on this new unit perfectly. The sound is as good or better than the original, and the settings are much more simple to access than another stereo brand that I recently put in my '97 Civic. The red display light looks great in my vehicle. Nice to have choices in that department. I rarely buy online but the order process with Crutchfield was 5 star as well. They made the process quick and easy, let me know any accessories required for the install, and kept me updated on the delivery. Happy customer !

Can't Recommend This Radio
Eric from Sandusky, OH on 8/29/2022
2003 Pontiac Montana
This radio unit is ok. Pros: Fits in most 2000s GM dashes WITHOUT the additional install mounting bracket Crutchfield SAYS you need to install it. It connects to your BlueTooth device almost seamlessly. It's affordable. Cons: When you turn the car off and then turn the car back on, when the radio engages it automatically plays at volume 20, which is loud. Haven't found a way to turn it down. Thanks for waking up my neighbors at 4 am. The changing lights all the time is extremely annoying. When you search for a different radio station, it takes 3 seconds to play anything on that station. I am used to a radio finding a station and it instantly playing that station. The radio does not pick up many of the stations that the radio I replaced with this one did. Switching from scanning for a radio station to manually searching takes a lot of button pressing which is not safe while driving. BlueTooth phone connection doesn't work, so when I get an incoming call and I'm listening to something from my phone, I can not turn off the radio so I can take the call on my phone itself. Very annoying. I really can't recommend this radio. I had issues with the Crutchfield Pro Installation that I paid someone to hook up the wires for easy installation of this radio, but the connections were extremely poor and I had to have my local stereo store correct the problems and install it so it would work correctly. Can't recommend that service from Crutchfield.

It is what it is. It's a low cost stereo with CD and bluetooth pairing. Sounds good so far and no issues with it. Stereo tuning is cumbersome and slow. The volume knob should be used for rapidly moving up or down the bands but instead, you use the arrow keys to slowly step between stations. CD loading is very slow but plays just fine. All in all, good but not great but you didn't pay for great.

This radio isn't very good. First of all, it gave a loud buzzing noise when I plugged it in with the ready harness. Then, after contacting customer support, I tried using the RCA plugs that were sent over and now it buzzes with acceleration and all of the bass is gone. The plastic on the front of the head unit is peeling apart and it's just a very cheap item. I should've gone with a better one from the start. I gave this two stars due to pros and cons for this head unit. This radio has good sound output and a very low price. The software is glitchy, the buttons and plastic have poor quality - looks and feels cheap. The text on the screen is very difficult to read and the brightness is way to bright for night time driving. Skip this item and buy something else, you will regret buying this. NOTE: I did message customer service before writing this review and will be returning it but wanted others to avoid this product if possible.

Brendan from Needham, MA on 4/15/2022
2006 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport
I got this unit due to others being out of stock ... also figured how hard could it be to create a bluetooth amplifier in 2022? Boy was I wrong. The bluetooth is quieter than the FM channel. It tops out at volume of 40, which is barely enough to hear over highway noise at high speeds. I tried plugging in the AUX using a lightning adapter to my iphone, but that flat didn't work at all. And amazingly, on certain radio stations the audio trips out for a half a second every 5 or ten seconds. Radio is unlistenable. This thing is extremely poor quality.
Pros: In stock? basically none
Cons: - low bluetooth volume - broken AUX - FM radio clips out every few seconds - Horrible EQ - not customizable. Everything sounds muddy.

Definitely a great unit for the price. The Bluetooth features like streaming and phone calls work well. The built-in mic for calls is surprisingly clear and clean while making a call. Decent, but... Really needs an external microphone (and it is NOT an option). Great price. Easy installation & excellent support from Crutchfield. This is my third radio from Crutchfield. I got this BOSS 660BRGB for my 2005 Toyota RAV4. The built-in microphone picks up so much road noise that it is mostly unusable when the car is moving.
Pros: Easy installation. Priced right.
Cons: No external mic or option for external mic. Hands-free picks up all the road noise.

as much as I would like to leave a good review on this product I really can't. The install was fairly easy and straight forward but after the head unit was installed I've had nothing but issues with it.
Pros: It's relatively cheap for the features it includes it looks neat the interface is fairly easy to operate
Cons: I have a terrible hissing noise that happens occasionally the plastic screen on the head unit literally melted in only 100F temperatures the product feels rather cheaply made and the buttons have a very cheap feel to them

Disappointing
Bryan from Helper, UT on 5/27/2021
2004 Ford F-150
Settled for this receiver due to others being out of stock. The lack of other brands being in stock is the only reason people are buying this. The one star rating is due to this unit having preamp outputs for subwoofers yet it has no subwoofer level control. Equalizer has presets but is not adjustable. The display is dim and unreadable during the day (not talking about direct sunlight either). Buttons have multiple functions and have to be held down to switch folders. Dial has limited function and it can not be used to scroll through songs. When quality receivers come back in stock I'll pick one up and toss this one in the trash since it isn't worth the time to return and I wouldn't want someone else to make the same mistake I did.
Pros: Price
Cons: The list is long.

very good minor changes would make it excellent

2006 Honda Pilot
installation was really pretty simple in my Honda Pilot, fits well looks really nice sounds great... only two things I would like to change if I were in charge of this particular model -brighten the display of it so it's legible in the daylight it's just too dark to see when the sun is shining on it -allow a setting to show the clock all the time, well it has a clock button you still have to reach over and click that button to have the clock come up for about 30 seconds. I bought this primarily as an upgrade so I could have bluetooth capability some charging capability and good luck in the stereo and that's what I got for a good price. other than those two minor changes I would make I'm very happy with this one
Pros: good sound, easy to install, easy to use
Cons: primary display is too low to be useful during daylight hours (can't see it at all in regular daytime sunlight for the most part) the clock button works but there's no way to have the clock showing on the display all the time... find up buying just a small clock to mount in the car for daylight hours

The Radio is great overall for the price. But I am getting tons of alternator static. (I am working with their support team to figure it out.) Next is a noise suppression filter. Hopefully that does the trick. I can't wait until aftermarket products move away from weird LED, and just go for displays that always read well in the sun.

This is a great radio if you just want to listen to music. We had to return it though, due to poor microphone pickup. Just could not hear the driver on a phone call. Our car was noisy inside, but we weren't getting noise through the microphone either. A bit difficult to install. Had to do a little "jerry rigging" but once it was in it looked great. Sorry we had to return due to low microphone pickup. Crutchfield customer service is outstanding so I will buy again. Thank you Crutchfield!

Subpar stereo
Eddie from Houston, TX on 4/24/2021
2001 Toyota Sienna
I just installed this stereo for my Toyota Sienna. Supposedly it was compatible with my vehicle but I could not use the brackets that were supplied with this stereo. Had to use the original factory brackets. The stereo also didn't fit freely through the trim paneling of the van so I had to shave off parts of my minivan trim panel so that the panel stayed secure. The FM station reception was horrible. The volume had to be set to max to even get medium level loudness. Properly matched up the color coded harness wires and antenna was plugged securely. Will definitely return this stereo.
Pros: The illumination
Cons: low volume, bad FM reception, did not fit minivan trim properly, supplied brackets were useless, removable faceplate useless.

Installed on 07 Mustang GT w/Shaker Deck.
Crutchfield customer from LAKE ELSINORE, CA on 3/28/2021
2007 Ford Mustang
You can't beat the price for what you are getting here. This went into my 07 Mustang GT so fir anyone looking to replace your Shaker 500 deck this will fit with some finesse. The plastic brackets that come with the install kit will not mount to the side of the Boss Deck with the screws that come with the Boss Deck that are for the metal brackets they supply you. However, the metal brackets they supply you block your trim pop ports on the dash so unless you want to cut off those points on that back of your trim that hold it in well then have your dremel ready with a cut off wheel or tinsnips handy. I wasn't going to compromise the integrity of my OEM interior and sound out came the dremel. You'll also need to use the face plate trim from the install kit not the one the Boss Deck comes with because if you do you will have a gap that is quite noticeable. I did a mock up of both and the install kit trim is the better choice. A little more finesse needed though as the holes don't quite line up with the Boss metal mounting brackets. And the point on the install kit trim don't exactly line up with the placement holes on your dash. So those got snipped off cause they were not needed. Since the holes on the trim did not align with the Boss mounting brackets I simply made the holes more accommodating by trimming out a quarter of the loop. Making it sort of a hook instead of a hole. So now there was more wiggle room so to speak and room for the screw to pass through and secure both.
Pros: Cannot complain for the price. My XR iPhone didn't work with the Shaker because the XR does not have an aux. port. With an adapter you can't charge your phone. This receiver solves that problem for me.
Cons: Not so much a "con" but if you think the USB connects your phone to the deck it does not. It connects through Bluetooth and the USB will charge your phone. Or perhaps I just can't figure it out. That's always a possibility lol.

For a radio at this price it gives you many nice features like bluetooth and extra ports to import your music. That was what I needed it for in this particular application. If you are looking for a high powered, crystal clear unit, this may not be your first choice, but if you are looking for a very economical unit to replace the stock unit in your vehicle without a particular change of speakers or sizable investment, this radio is perfect.

Not very compaitiable with 2010 Toyota tacoma. Steering wheel controls will not work with it. And, the Metra dash kit 95-8214tg is not very good fit with it either. You have to use factory side brackets and the face cover that comes with kit has no where to connect when using factory side brakets. Pick another stereo if your installing in same application maybe you will have a better scenario. Radio actually produces good sound better than factory radio.
Pros: Produces great sound, has good reception from antenna.
Cons: Not compaitable with my steering wheel controls. At least with wirimg harness kit provided. Dash kit does not fit great either. The trim piece you see in picture will pop off with a good bump in the road.

Granted it's not a $300 head unit, I'm just not impressed. Underpowered, the microphone picks up absolutely everything (I'm in a built K-Swapped Civic Hatchback... There are plenty of sounds), had to re-pin a few of the spots on the Ready Wire harness as well which was kind of aggravating considering I paid the extra money to avoid that whole process, but it is what it is. I'll keep it until I drop the dollars on an actual full system, but I'll probably junk it shortly thereafter.
Pros: Price
Cons: Just about everything else. It's cheap. You get what you pay for though.

Maybe I just got a bad one, but it quit working after less than 10 days. You get what you pay for. Crutchfield's was helpful and have sent a replacement after 2 hours on the phone with tech support, but they are just doing their job. We will see with the replacement
Pros: sounded good, Easy install
Cons: quit working > 10 days
