After comparing with the R700's, this was the clear winner!
Michael from Oviedo, FL on 7/2/2023
One of the most incredible speakers I've ever heard, and THE most at this price point. I had the R700's and thought, I really needed to give these a chance and listen firsthand since there were really no A/B comparisons out there in review or forum lands. I have to say, listening to both side by side and even though I REALLY love the R700's, there is clearly something more refined and magical about the L600's. Refined is definitely the word, in fact - there is more air around the notes, a cleaner roll and rumble on the very deep lows, and a breadth in the middle that just speaks to the added quality over the Reserves. Now, it is very FAIR to ask, "Sure, but is it worth an additional $700+ per speaker?" and my answer would be... maybe not. For their price point, the R700's are king, and close enough that for anyone budget conscious I would definitely recommend that route. However... IF your price range is flexible up to $2K, and you're looking to squeeze even more out of your sound, all things being equal I for sure stand by the L600's as the superior speaker. Of course, you also have to factor in the aesthetics. This one is a no brainer, the L600 smokes the R700 in the looks department, especially considering the integration of the height as well - it is a gorgeous speaker! And speaking of heights, if you're looking for a little more value out of the higher price point, I can also add my comparison that the integrated L900 sound is better than the R900's on top the speaker.
Pros: - Beautiful looking speaker - Very refined yet large sound - Incredible depth and quality on the low end - Smart integration of the height speakers - Incredible height option with the quality sound of the L900's (sold seperately)
Cons: - Despite objectively sounding better than the R700's, a fair argument can be made that the difference in price isn't enough to justify the upgrade

I think this may be best overall sounding speaker under 6.000 and maybe 10k, but I haven't auditioned any costing 10k. I have tried Kef R7 Meta and the midrange sounded thin and they didn't image that great. I also tried Martin Logan's new FT100 and that was fine with exception of the upper midrange vocals seemed a bit harsh. I think the Polks may be a keeper, we'll see. My equipment is as follows: Ayon Spirit power amplifier. Very high end tube amp PS Audio dac and preamplifier Kimber cables Listening room 13 x 14-6

Outstanding Speakers

Originally, I had ordered the Reserve R700s, but due to the ones I ordered going out of production, Crutchfield graciously offered these at the same price. It only seems fair to make that disclaimer. SOUND: As a 22 year old "audiophile", I don't have endless experience. That said, these sound fantastic. Set up in my listening room, they sound full and rich, confident and very respectably dynamic. Anecdote: the sound seems to be much more "organic" than my previous stand-mounters. Finish: I'll admit I have a soft spot for Walnut (who doesn't) and the veneer finish on these is fantastic. BUILD: These are HEAVY. 89ish lbs unboxed, only because these are built incredibly solid. The cabinet truthfully isn't ~overwhelmingly~ inert, but nonetheless it is *far* from resonant. The materials are thick, strong, beautiful and seem to be arguably heirloom quality. SOUNDSTAGE: This is very room-dependent in my experience-that said, it's everything you'd expect it to be, but not shocking to me personally. Imaging was very good, the edges weren't perfectly crisp, but again-personal experience. !Likely due to my RT60! DETAIL/CLARITY: I've only heard better from Wilson Audio speakers that literally cost 70x more (don't forget my inexperience, however) Overall, my gripes mostly seem to lead back to my own room, not the speaker. Even at the original price, these make sense. With my situation, it only speaks volumes about Crutchfield as a company. New
Pros: -Build Quality and finish are beautiful. -Sound is rich, extended, impressively organic, and confident (with current). -Punchy and good slam while keeping respectably textured bass -Home Media/Cinema sounds FANTASTIC, especially due to the downward firing port (least time spent doing this) -Makes most bad recordings sound good, but still demonstrates a large difference between poor and good recordings (this very well may be a con for you!) -Unboxing experience is well thought
Cons: -I DID NOT GET THESE AT RETAIL PRICE (disclaimer) - Heavy and not easy to move, they don't have much to grab onto. -Opposite of sensitive. These need current. Truthfully, I was looking for potentially good low-volume speakers, these aren't exactly that, but I can't complain given my situation, lol (they make up for it elsewhere). -Large-definitely larger than expected-but that may be my own lapse in judgement. I recommend measuring before!

Best speakers I've ever owned or heard!
James from Toms River, NJ on 1/5/2023
Fantastic build quality on every level, thoughtful engineering throughout. I first purchased the signature series S55's, they were great and introduced me to polks quality at more entry level standards. Then purchased the polk reserve R600's. These were on a completely different playing field from the S55's. Used them for maybe 6 months or so and blew a tweeter after only adding a pre amp a few weeks prior. So I researched more but wanted to stay with the polk mentality. I decided to go big since I was already home and dug deeper for the polk legend L600's. The Reserve R700's were hard to find but ultimately the legends were just a much more beautiful speaker and felt more exclusive. I could not have been happier since unboxing and experiencing these top notch speakers. Needless to say I purchased the L400 center not much after and my main sound stage is just incredible. These L600's being 4ohm and 86db can take what I throw at them. Again couldn't recommend these enough or Polks latetest products. If you can swing it, these punch above their weight and look great doing it, IMO. Thank you polk and crutchfield for opening and sharpeing my ears.... But also causing my wallet to consistently smoke.
Pros: Quality far exceeds their price
Cons: Expensive.....but you get what you pay for

The Perfect Speaker
Steve from Columbus on 8/20/2022
I have watched and learned from many YouTube videos about Audiophiles Speakers and Crossovers, I have the Polk L600 Tower which are a perfect speaker but was not reviewed, No YouTuber Audiophile ever gave a Speaker a perfect rating until now. There are only 2 speakers on YouTube that got a perfect rating and it was from Denis Robinson he rated the R700 as near perfect he gave it a 9 and I guess that is why there out of stock, and the Wharfedale Elysian 4 a perfect 10. I am not saying the Polk L600 Tower are a 10 base on the R700 as near perfect but because the sound stage is wide and man do I mean wide I watching Infinite Storm on VUDU and in the parking lot the car to the left when they shut the door I look over to the left like I was actually in the movie to see who was shutting the door, and in the end when they were in the cafeteria I could hear the people talking behind me even though I do not have rear speakers it filled my whole room as thou I was transported to the cafeteria. I am very impressed with the Polk L600 Tower. The sound stage is Wide Transparent holographic. They disappear and have no coloration. They pick up the sound signature of Audiophile speakers on YouTube so I don't have to buy $250,000 plus speakers. I can just enjoy watching them on my Sony 85" X800H Like I am there. Life has never been so GOOD. I don't know if these speakers require a brake in period I just came home one day and they went form exceptional to a whole another demission.
Pros: The Perfect Speaker
Cons: To Good to be true, may be just to perfect to believe.

Polk Audio Legend L600
ronb from Folsom, LA on 7/27/2022
While the tonal aspect of loud speakers is as personal a matter as taste in music itself, the Polk L600's have exceeded my expectations. I purchased them about 20 months ago and I am as impressed and pleased with them today as I was on day one. They are a bit power-hungry but when provided with sufficient power from a capable amp they provide a highly detailed warm tonal quality. My listening area is the living section of a 25 foot by 39 foot great room with a 16 foot cathedral ceiling. The primary listening positions are 17 feet from the face of the speakers. When driven by a Parasound Halo A31 amp the L600's provide a wide and deep sound stage that exceeds both the horizontal and vertical plane of the speakers. While the combination of the Halo amp and the L600's have the ability to exceed my preferred peak listening level of 90db to 95db with zero stress to neither the amp nor the speakers, at this listening level the L600's produce tight, resounding bass, a pronounced mid-range, and clear crisp highs that on certain tracks sound as though they are coming from the side-rear of the listening positions. For HT the Polk L400 center rounds out an incredible front sound stage. All in all I am extremely pleased with the L600's but again would like to state a capable amp is required to achieve optimal performance. As a footnote, I set the L600's crossover to 60hz and utilize an SVS PB-3000 sub. Having sampled the crossover ranging from 40hz to 80hz I found 60hz to be optimal.
Pros: Excellent warm, detailed tonal quality...strong tight bass.
Cons: None.

Polk Audio Legend L600
Gresham from Woodstock, GA on 11/17/2021
I purchased these speakers as a replacement for a mint condition pair of LSIM 705s, which I gave to my best friend as a house warming. They were fantastic and these are better in my opinion. I also have a pair of Infinity 7 Kappa speakers that I bought back in the early 90s that are not going anywhere. These new Polks are true giant-killers from my perspective. What do I mean? Living in the Atlanta area, there are numerous high end "audiophile" shops in the area that sell audio systems that can cost as much as a house. I've auditioned numerous different speakers over the years in these shops, some I could afford (still quite a bit more expensive that the L600s) and some "reference" speakers that I could not afford. I won't debate whether these Polks sounds better than any of those speakers (pssss, they do!), but I will say that these L600s and even my LSIM 705s make me chuckle when I went into a high end shop and listened to a pair of $10k and higher speakers. I've always left those shops feeling like the Polks killed most of them and was in the race in all other cases. So, these Polks are giant killers to the extent they don't make me want for more that would cost 4-5 times as much. They are a true "anti-snob" proposition that will make you feel like you're getting the last laugh when you witness a high-end shop owner look dazed that you had the nerve to walk into their shop and admit you have Polks. Yes, too funny...the nerve of me. Buy now!!
Pros: -Tight, deep bass (no need for sub for music) -Clear, non-smeared highs -Stunning looks and build quality -Overall great sound -Will reveal poor recordings (yes, I consider that a pro)
Cons: More finish options needed IMO

I purchased the Polk Legend Series L600 in December of 2020. I have always been a Polk fan since purchasing Polk 10's in 1980. Fast forward 40 years...empty nest...time to go big! My choice was between the Bowers 702s or the Polks. The Crutchfield team was knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. I had heard the Bowers before but bought the Polks based on Crutchfield reviews and brand loyalty. When these arrive it is an EVENT! They weigh almost 90 pounds each so they are shipped commercial freight on a pallet and fully shrink wrapped. I have a two channel setup and have them powered by 1985 Yamaha A600 rated at 125 watts per channel. Streaming is provided through CambridgeI CXN v2 DAC from Crutchfield . I also purchased a Definitive Technology Pro-Sub 1000 from Crutchfield because great systems have a sub...right (more on this later). These speakers are truly amazing. I feel like I'm hearing SO MANY songs for the first time. The accuracy and imaging are spot on. And, they will get BIG if you want...VERY BIG. Emerson, Lake, and Palmer's "Lucky Man" will bring tears to your eyes. With Simon and Garfunkel's "The Boxer" you hear textures in Art Garfunkel's falsetto that are mind blowing. Then, throw in Muse's "Starlight" and your heart is in your throat!! As for bass, these speakers are in a league of their own...no sub needed. I use my sub and it helps on the ultra lows at high volume but the units are really the total package by themselves. Very happy....thank you Crutchfield!
Pros: Accuracy Bass No rear port so can place close to wall EXCEPTIONAL design/materials/workmanship
Cons: heavy

Dead sound with no mid/bass
Crutchfield customer from Baraboo, WI on 2/9/2021
They have no lower end bass/midrange. The rich sound or an organ or string bass is dead. It seems these speakers require a subwoofer, but that will not make up for the poor performance. My old Cambridge Sound Works are superior,

Polk Audio Legend L600
Doug from Glendale, AZ on 5/17/2020
I've owned top-end Klipsch and even the incredible Infinity Kappa 8 speakers before driving the Kappa 8's with mono-clipped Sony NES system 3 Power Amps for a combined 1,280 watts and NEVER thought I'd find speakers I liked better; they were perfect (or so I thought). I recently purchased these Polk Legend 600 speakers with the Anthem STR Integrated Receiver and caught myself both smiling and then at times shaking my head in disbelief that Polk could have made these technological miracles. The sound is precise, accurate, powerful, pure and simply majestic! The lows and highs are crisp and crystal clear and the sheer power and graceful sound will envelop and capture you. A good friend of mine purchased the top of the line Polk Audio LSM 7's a few years back (no longer available) and I was sold on them from the word, "GO" because they were so much better than anything I'd heard before. The Legend 600 is the clearer, cleaner more perfect next generation of the awesome Polk LSM 7's and Polk Audio has simply out-performed their best performer. These speakers are a steal at this price and, if you love your music, don't hesitate...BUY THESE NOW! These speakers are a technological feat and marvel! I am simply blown away!
Pros: Purest sound you'll ever hear Superb value
Cons: A bit heavy (but not that bad) so if you can get a friend to help you unpackage them, that would be a help.
