Features

Overview: The Kenwood P-XRW122DB features a single 12" oversized-cone subwoofer mounted in a sealed, low-profile, down-firing enclosure. The compact 2-ohm subwoofer system is capable of handling up to 400 watts RMS (2000W peak power).

Driver: The P-XRW122DB features an oversized cone, allowing increased low-frequency output, while keeping the same cutout diameter. This makes the subwoofer ideal for small sealed enclosures. The newly designed cone features ribbing for added cone strength and minimizing distortion. An improved larger magnet and Stress-Free Spider add to the subwoofer's mechanical and thermal durability, allowing it to deliver deep low frequencies with long lasting reliability.

Enclosure: The P-XRW122DB sub driver comes mounted in a compact and durable sealed 3/4" MDF enclosure, producing rich deep bass in a compact size that doesn't take up a lot of vehicle space. The enclosure is covered in automotive-grade black carpet, providing durable protection along with pleasing aesthetics.

Terminals: Two recessed spring-posts are provided for connecting speaker wire up to 12-gauge in size.

Hi, I'm planning to finally add a subwoofer to the cargo area of my 2002 Chevy Zr2 Blazer. I'm considering two options: I like the design of this downward- firing Kenwood speaker and the freedom that it allows you to place cargo on top of it without worrying about damage. I'd power it with a matching Excelon amplifier. The other option I'm considering is to instead add the Rockford Fosgate Punch P300-12 powered sub, facing upward in the cargo area. I've never used a sub in my car before and I'm wondering how these two configurations (downward- firing -vs- upward facing) might differ and affect the bass that I hear in my SUV. Could you please share your thoughts, suggestions or advice regarding this?

Can you use Rockford Fosgate prime 500x1 with this subwoofer? Thank you for your time

Pairing the Rockford Fosgate r2-500X1 in the link below with this Kenwood sub would BANG Frederick! Now on paper the Fosgate is overpowering the Kenwood at 2 ohms by around 100 watts, but if you set the amp up properly that is a non-issue. The sealed enclosure can provide additional air suspension and allow you to have some leeway power wise. I think if you are looking to get the most performance out of the Kenwood the Fosgate is an excellent choice. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575R2500X1/Rockford-Fosgate-R2-500X1.html
