Important Note: Some 6-1/2" speakers use a larger frame and require a larger cutout. We call these 6-3/4" speakers, and they won't fit in this bracket. This bracket will only work with speakers that require a cutout diameter of 5-1/8" or less.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The 82-3412 bracket is designed to allow easy replacement of factory speakers with select aftermarket 6-1/2 and 5-1/4 speakers. (Please refer to the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to confirm fit in your vehicle.)

6-1/2 Speakers: 6-1/2 speakers with the 3-hole bolt pattern or the symmetrical 4-hole bolt pattern can be mounted using the tabs around the inner speaker opening of this bracket (if the hole spacing matches).

5-1/4 Speakers: The frame diameter of a some 5-1/4s is smaller than the brackets' cutout; in these cases a speaker baffle should be used to seal the rear of the speaker.

Dimensions:

  • Cutout Diameter: 5.08"
  • Height: 0.5"
  • Three-Hole Spacing (6-1/2): 4.54"-4.89"
  • Four-Hole Spacing (5-1/4):
    • Perimeter: 3.72"-4"
    • Diagonal: 5.25"-5.65"

Customer Q&A

Q
Does it matter which bracket (5-1/4" or 6-1/2") bracket you use in a 2003 Honda Civic sedan (just as long as you order matching speaker size) or is one "correct" for that model and the other "won't work"?

If I understand what you are asking, the same speaker mounting bracket is needed to fit speakers in either of those sizes in the front door. Some speakers of those sizes will not fit within the available space in the doors. We have advisors that you can reach by calling 1-800-324-9695 who can discuss your goals and preferences and give you a recommendation that will fit.

If you have the correct speaker size I would say it's fair to assume the bracket is going to be the correct size to replace the old one. Be prepared to drill though

Q
For an 04 Civic do you have to drill any holes?

I didn't have to for my 03 hybrid. However, you could use self-tapping screw if you have to. it doesn't rust much inside door panel.
