Practical features

You can also put this versatile amp into single-channel mode, switch on the low-pass filter for clarity, and run a subwoofer with up to 190 watts RMS, perfect for a modest system. Speaker-level inputs allow you to add the GM-A3702 to a factory radio that doesn't have preamp outputs. If your vehicle needs a sonic upgrade, this amp's small footprint and reasonable price make it a great choice.

Product Research

Features

CEA-2006 Compliant: CEA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement methods for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured into a 4Ω load, with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N), and over a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (for full range amplifiers). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4Ω. CEA-2006 standards allow consumers to compare amplifiers on an equal basis. Using CEA-2006 criteria, the Pioneer GM-A3702 is rated at 60 watts RMS x 2 channels, with a 75 dBA signal to noise ratio.

Specifications: The manual also lists these non CEA-2006 compliant specifications:

  • Power:
    • 2Ω: 95 watts x 2 channels (14.4 volts, 1 kHz, no more than 1% THD+N)
    • Bridged: 190 watts x 1 channel (into 4Ω, 14.4 volts, 1 kHz, no more than 1% THD+N)
  • Signal to Noise Ratio: 95 dB (at rated power)

Gain Control: To accommodate the varying range of signal levels coming from today's factory and aftermarket radios, the input gain is adjustable (0.3V-6.5V line level, 3V-26V speaker level).

LPF: A two position switch turns the low pass filter (LPF) on/off. The crossover point is fixed at 80 Hz and the slope is 12dB/octave.

Power Connections: The power and ground connections are 0.54" wide screw terminals, the remote turn-on screw terminal is 0.325" wide. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not included) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals. With a total fuse rating of 25 amps, 10 AWG power and ground wire is recommended. A 25A fuse should be placed on the power wire within 18" of the battery. Spade connectors are recommended for the power, ground, and remote wires.

Speaker Connections: The speaker screw terminals are 0.325" wide. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not included) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals. Spade connectors are recommended for the speaker wires.

RCA Input: The amplifier features one pair of stereo RCA line level inputs (left/right).

Speaker Input: The included speaker level input harness allows you to connect your OEM radio (or aftermarket radio that does not have the typical RCA-type outputs) without having to buy an adapter.

Auto Power On: When using the speaker level input, a circuit senses the input signal and turns the amp on automatically. This feature makes it easier to add an amplifier to a factory radio or to a receiver with no preamp outputs.

Fuse: The amp is protected by one 25-amp ATO blade fuse.

Q
Does this amp have automatic turn on?
william  Feb 22, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings William. Thank you for your question. Using the speaker level input will automatically turn on/off this amp when it receives a signal, or the signal drops when the radio is off. The RCA input would need a remote turn on wire.

Q
If I add this to my 2023 Tacoma, will it also boost the volume of a phone call with the factory hands free system?
curtis  Jul 14, 2023
1 answer
A
Your hands-free calls would also be affected by the addition of the amplifier.
zachary  Jul 14, 2023 (Staff)
Q
will this amp work with the pioneer 8" a2000lb subwoofer?
monte  May 24, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Monte, and thank you for your question. This amps bridged power will be 190 watts at 4 ohms. The Pioneer subwoofer would have to be wired to 4 ohms. Seeing as it is a dual voice coil 2 ohm subwoofer, it can be wired to 4 ohm. The sub is rated for 250 watts, and this amp will put 190 to it.
hogan  May 24, 2023 (Staff)
Q
Will this work to replace the subwoofer amp in my 2001 Z3 roadster and drive Kicker 48CWRT674 CompRT Series shallow-mount 6-3/4" subwoofer with dual 4-ohm voice coils?
keith  Feb 09, 2023
1 answer
A
This two channel amp bridged would not be the best match for that subwoofer. The Rockford Fosgate R2-250X1 would be a better match since the subwoofer would be wired at a 2 or 8 ohm load. I will put a link to it down below. If you have any questions or other specific needs we have experts standing by at 800.324.9695 that can help find some alternatives for you as well. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575R2250X1/Rockford-Fosgate-R2-250X1.html?tp=115

Q
I plan on running front speakers on one and rear on other that should work correct?
chris  Jan 05, 2023
1 answer
A
No reason why not, Chris. You are essentially building yourself the Pioneer 4-channel GM-A4704 in the below link but you will have 20 extra watts to play with. Make sure to select speakers that can handle at least 60-watts rms. We can help you select speakers that fit, a dual wiring kit or piece together a distribution block/fuse combo too if you need. Call us at 1-800-324-9695 or reach out anytime, we are always here to help. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_130GMA4704/Pioneer-GM-A4704.html

Q
Will this amp work with two Pioneer TS-A120D4 speakers?
dominick  Nov 01, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Nuke556, and thank you for your question. No the Pioneer GM-A3702 will not have nearly enough power to run one of those subs let alone two. You need something close to 1000 watts. A mono amp would be your best option. You might want to call in and speak to one of our advisors at 800-324-9695 for the best option for those subs.

Q
Will it work with my factory head unit in a 2005 Chevy cobalt?
jayb2005  Sep 12, 2022
1 answer
A
Yes you can use that amp with a factory head unit. It has speaker level inputs so you can tap directly into the stock wiring but you can also use a line output converter if you would rather use RCA cables.
arielle  Sep 12, 2022 (Staff)
Q
does it come with speaker input wire adapter?
jorge  Jul 22, 2022
1 answer
A
Yes, the amp has a speaker input harness with four 4" wires. You can find that information under "what's in the box" on the product page under the overview.

Q
Can I use this amp to power a 2 ohm Kicker 48TCWRT672 sub in bridge mode?
james  May 19, 2022
1 answer
A
The Pioneer GM-A3702 is only bridgeable at 4 ohms. The Pioneer amp does output 95 watts rms at 2 ohms and the Kicker 48TCWRT672 can handle up to 150 watts rms at 2 ohms.
allison  May 22, 2022 (Staff)
Q
I am looking to power (2) 6x9 Kickers (Kicker 46CSC6934 CS Series) rated at 150W RMS and 4ohms each. Is this unit 4ohms per channel or 4ohms total?

A
amp is only 60 watts so i bought an efficient pair of 60w 4ohm rockford fosgate 6x9s. and it rocks out!

Q
Can i wired tri mode with this amp Gm-a3702 Pioneer?
onits  Dec 09, 2021
1 answer
A
It depends on finding a tri-way crossover that can work with this amp. We do not have any at the time of this reply. That may change in the future and I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to check

A
500W bridged between 2 channels
nathen  Nov 14, 2020
A
Yes. 500 total watts. I bought it originally for a in between after my old Jenson died. Bit I hooked it up and I have it pushing 2 - 10" Kicker Comp X's and it has no problem. If you are worried about power or distortion, just wire your speakers for 2ohmn and it should perform great.

Q
Will this amp work with speakers that only hold 50 watts rms? Or will it be to much?
michael s  Dec 22, 2019

A
I'm using a couple of 20 watt speakers connected to each channel and they work fine. Just be careful you don't overdrive them for extended periods. You'll know it too much power when you start suffering hearing loss. Good Luck, if have any further questions, I'm happy to help! Jeff
jeff  Jan 08, 2020
A
The amp will push those 50 rms speakers really hard, I have it connected to a 400 peak sub and it pushes it hard, so to answer your question yes, it will push them , just be muscular with the volume

Q
Will this provide sufficient power for a set of Infinity Pappas component set 60.11?
carlton  Mar 31, 2018
3 answers
A
Definitely, Infinity's are very efficient (93 dB sensitivity) and the Pioneer amp is a good affordable power solution.
aaron  Apr 09, 2018
A
I returned this amp. I found the power to be raw and unrefined. It is affordable but I think there are better products out there for the money.
nathaniel  Apr 08, 2018
A
Yes. This amp is 60 watts RMS at 4 ohm and 95 watts at 2 ohms. The Kappas are 90 watts RMS at 2 ohms I'm pretty sure.

Q
Will this 2 channel amp power 4 aftermarket door speakers (Pioneer Model: TS-G1645R) rated at 4 ohms?
nick  Sep 09, 2017
1 answer
A
Yes it should be able to at 47.5 watts per speaker, but you won't be able to use fader controls like you can with a 4 channel amp and there will be more distortion pushing what it will see as a 2 ohm setup if you wire in parallel.
jeremy  Sep 09, 2017

Should i add a high pass filter to this amp so bass would only go to my subs running on a different amp?

Q
Would this amp work for a component speaker system or is it desined for subs only?
mark  Apr 02, 2017
2 answers
A
This will work on component or Sub. It is actually probably meant more for components. If connecting to a sub you will want to bridge this amp to get the most out of it. I have this connected to a Memphis 8" sub bridged, cranked up and still wish it had just a little more juice.
ivan  Apr 04, 2017
A
Yes. It can be used to power 2 component speakers. Make sure you check the power rating of the speakers you wish to use to be sure they are compatible with the power rating of the amp.
curt  Apr 04, 2017
Q
In bridged mode it says 190 watts x1, 4 ohm stable. I am curious if that means it pushes 190 to a single 4 ohm speaker (sub)? Also, if you are wanting to use the auto power on speaker level feature, do you need rca adapters or anything like that to plug in to it?
rocky  Mar 25, 2017
1 answer
A
You can bridged the 2-channels on this amp down to a single channel in order to drive a single speaker or subwoofer. And the included speaker-level input harness allows you to connect your OEM radio (or aftermarket radio that does not have the typical RCA-type outputs) without having to buy an adapter. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. Hope that helps!
