I bought this for my 2014 Ram truck. I was hoping it would sound as good as the Alpine system in my Challenger. With the help from my help advisor guy Leon, I ended up with an all Pioneer system plus RF powered sub, and it BLOWS the Alpine system out of the water. All in for less than $800. To say I am a Crutchfield fan now would be a gross understatement.

Great sounding radio.....just wish it had a manual with the basic instructions for the push buttons and basic set up operation to get you going....or one video from start to finish....not mutiple videos to where you have to hunt for what you need.....turn on, change channels, saving stations. Had to call the tec at Crutchfield twice to have them help me out
Pros: Once you figure it out....works like a champ
Cons: Need a way better owner manual for set up

It is just an average unit if that. It's underpowered and it's unimpressive. No matter what you do with the settings it come constantly sounds like it is muffled by sock..This is by far the worst pioneer unit I have ever purchased and I have purchased several. Did I mention I'm disappointed in it? Somebody please tell me the reason for putting the mic Jack on the backside of the unit. There's no real convenient way to feed the microphone through where it would be outside of the dashboard rather than behind it. Doesn't make any sense. Not too pleased with this unit. It was simple to install but that is about it. It really sounds no better than the factory unit I replaced with it. Now I'm just going to deal with it because I don't really have the motivation to tear everything out and replace it again.
Pros: It's cheap and it has pretty lights.
Cons: It is weak and produces weak sound.

This device has more than met my driving needs. I have paired my iPhone (through Bluetooth) and iPad (through AUX) to play my music and get audio for the MAPS APP in my car. The one downside is that I would have liked the text in the Display to be brighter and with sharper contrast. I have tried all the colors and when sunlight comes into the vehicle the display text dulls in color. I am going to lower the dashboard installation of my iPad to see if I can shadow the display and still let me see the display. That said, this device has modernized my 2004 Toyota SUV.

2013 Ford F-150 XL
Install was pretty easy. I used a YouTube video to remove the old unit. Don't be intimidated by the wiring harnesses. At least on mine, Ford made it a no-brainer by making every harness plug with a different configuration so no possibility of plugging into the wrong terminal. I got the Crutchfield ready harness, which saved time. I made no splices. Instructions were good. Great color and brightness options. Bluetooth syncs very quickly to my iPhone as soon as I get in the truck. Microphone works as well or better than factory on my F150. I ran just a short run and used double adhesive tape for it to come out under the instrument panel overhang just to the right of the steering wheel at 2 o'clock. I use Siri to find and play music or playlist from my iPhone. This is not a special service that you have to pay for. I have about 1200 songs and I never take my eyes off the road to select what I want. To change to radio, Just touch the source button on the tuner. The new cover plate looks factory.

Ordered this from Crutchfield last week, their web page was awesome in helping me choose the right unit to fit my truck...delivery was fast, I wanted this for a 2003 Chevy Silverado 1500 as the original 2 din unit had died. I used their pre wiring harness service in order to make sure the connections were perfect as I wanted the original functions of the truck to work with the new radio, that service only cost 27 dollars and I'm so glad I did. All said, it took me about 30 minutes to take the old unit out and install the new one. Couldn't be happier with the result, Bluetooth connection with my phone, unit sounds great....

Love the new unit. Very practical to upgrade from the factory unit (which was not hands free for cell calls). Now compliant with sate law for hands free calling, plus connected to Spotify for music. Getting the wiring harness built by the team at Crutchfield was well worth the added cost. Saved so much time, just plug and play. And the tech support team solved on programming issue over the phone with ease. Totally understandable why you guys (and gals) have been around for 50 years - simply the best in the industry.
Pros: Everything from helping with the initial selection, recommending accessories, building the wiring harness, prompt shipping, and programming once installed.

A great receiver so far. I purchased it for the crossover flexibility and with the intent of running an active setup. Bluetooth connects almost instantly and has yet to drop out. Download the pioneer app. It makes source control and sound adjustments so much easier than using the head unit alone. Select crossover frequencies, slopes and a 31 band eq. Navigating a thumb drive and pandora stations is so much easier and faster through the app. All this can be done through the head unit alone but the app makes it more efficient. I'm very pleased with this purchase. Crutchfield support, Leon, was quick to answer a question I had during install. I would recommend this head unit and Crutchfield to anyone who'd listen. Great prices, customer support and a generous return policy if needed.
Pros: Crossover flexibility, price, customer support, pioneer sync app

Had it for 6 months. I'm tired of the radio not working correctly. It only gets 2 stations. I'm tired of how long it takes to switch inputs. I'm tired of it displaying "Volume" for several seconds when I adjust it and making the rest of the display go away. Apparently you aren't allowed to see the time during or after adjusting the volume. And finally I'm tired of it not having an off button. When I park I want a moment of silence to transition but with this I have to open my door to turn it off.
Pros: Customer support was helpful
Cons: Radio for all practical purposes does not work

A wonderful sounding receiver. Still have some functions to learn (including the Crossover and equalizer, but overall I really like it. Replacing a Pioneer FH-X720BT that I had installed (from Crutchfield) in 2015. The MHV-S622BS is a significant upgrade. I had to call tech support because I couldn't figure out where the pause button was. I spoke with Dakota and he told me that it was the #4 button. I had never used radio channel memory buttons for other functions before, but I will get used to it. Thanks Dakota! I use this receiver with a Kenwood 60w rms x 2 power amplifier and Polk 2-way (6 1/2" woofer/1" tweeter) that I also bought in 2015 from Crutchfield and the system sounds amazing for front door 2-way speakers. Very pleased!
Pros: Great sound and features.

I really like the retro look that it has while keeping modern features that it needs like Bluetooth and 3 sets of rca outputs. My car came with a very nice Pioneer double DIN with nav aids and the whole nine yards. However, it only provided BT for voice and not streaming. After many years of service its BT became outdated and then the touch screen stopped responding and it was time to upgrade. This unit has all the same core features minus the nav aids and CD player. I use my smart phone for navigation and CD's have gone the way of the Dodo Bird as far as I'm concerned. Of course the swap was no trouble.

Good radio, bad app
Kent from Makawao, HI on 2/24/2024
2007 Nissan Frontier
I think this a great choice if you need to update an older radio without modern features, which is why I purchased it for a 2007 Frontier. By the way, paying a little extra to have Crutchfield prewire the connections is a no-brainer smart decision. I'm mostly very happy with the radio, at least for the way I use it. I pretty much knew I would probably only be using the AUX to play audio from my phone, and maybe use the radio a little. The Sound from the AUX sounds really good after some tweaking in the app (more on that later). Playing music from my phone over Bluetooth sounds bad and is very noisy. The only thing I really dislike about the radio is the Pioneer app. It's pretty clunky and when it's open on your phone, even in the background, it tries to take control and messes up my phone, sometimes to the point where I would have to restart the phone. After lots of playing around I realized it's just best to never open that app once you have the radio set up as you want it. I didn't connect the mic so I can't review that feature. Overall I'm super excited to have this as my new radio in my old truck.
Pros: Great for the price
Cons: The app causes problems

Thomas from Lynnwood, WA on 10/27/2023
1999 Honda CRV
It's important to know about initial setup or you may not get the correct audio right from the start. I discovered this by inquiring with Crutchfield. Upon first power up of the unit you have two options, Standard Mode or Network mode so be careful what you choose or know the difference. If not, you can always reset the unit and start again. Listen up manufacturers, most important is performance, functionality, and ease of use!
Pros: Too new and too soon to tell
Cons: My immediate complaint is all the colored and/or flashing lights...too much eye candy. I know you can adjust it but I don't find it easy to change.

Pioneer MVH-S622BS Car Stereo Review: Exceptional Sound and Seamless C
Paul from Greeley, CO on 9/24/2023
2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
The Pioneer MVH-S622BS is a fantastic car stereo model known for its superb sound quality, Bluetooth connectivity, and user-friendly interface. You can fine-tune the sound with its equalizer and even personalize the display and color schemes. Cons: No CD Player: If you still prefer to play CDs, you should note that this model lacks a CD player. It relies solely on digital media and smartphone connectivity. Small Screen: Some users may find the screen size a bit small, especially if they are used to larger touchscreen displays in other car stereo models. Limited App Integration: While it has Bluetooth for audio streaming, the integration with certain apps and services may be limited compared to more advanced car stereos.

Have had unit installed for about a week now, so far pretty good. Still making audio tuning and illumination adjustments. 2005 Mazda 6 Hatchback. I play the unit exclusively from a flash drive/memory stick. So far much better than the aftermarket JVC it replaced. But...... I think Pioneer dropped the ball in a few places. There is a bunch of little tuning and assorted adjustments that 99% of people will NEVER use. The $$ spent on engineering could have been better spent on things the unit really needs in everyday use for most people. What's missing and could make the unit better? Crossfade between songs. Even a basic Ipod/Itunes has crossfade adjustment. This unit you MAY go directly to next song or it MAY be a few seconds, not consistent. But the biggie. There is NO LINE LEVEL OUTPUT!! Again level output is a basic of Ipod/Itunes. So in this unit the volume of the music CONSTANTLY changes between songs. You are forever making volume adjustments, every song plays at a different volume, NOT CONSISTENT. One feature my factory BOSE unit had and this unit does NOT have, and I can forgive Pioneer for not having it, as it my be difficult to build for an aftermarket unit, is a speed/volume control. We've ALL done it, you come home from a drive, music cranked on a song, and you park the car. You get in later/next morning, and volume is cranked, blowing your still half asleep ears out. The factory BOSE knew the car was just starting/not moving and lowered th

I replaced my old Pioneer with this Pioneer MVH-S622BS. The installation was really easy since the old unit had the same plugs for power, controls and speakers. Update to my previous review (zooinmybackyard): this thing screams with 4 ohm speakers. And with an amp, wow.
Pros: Loud, clear
Cons: no simple eq, graphic eq only. Many situations a simple eq is also needed for me. I like the volume goes to 62, but is kinda pointless. Sound quality goes out the door at about 50. Would buy again if there wasn't other units with hardly any distortion and have both simple/graphic equalizer for the same price.

Not sure if it's just the unit I bought. Everything superbly dialed/tuned. With amp, rear output channels on this head unit WORK but...metal/rock music tones (guitar vs bass) fade in and out from each other badly at ANY volume, especially playing the song "self vs self" by pendulum with/without amp as if they're not getting enough power. Acoustic music sounds good. My factory head unit sounded 100x better than this @ 17w rms x 4....without an amp. After 2 weeks of troubleshooting my new amp, speakers and speaker wires...installed my very old Kenwood (with amp), PROBLEM SOLVED AND GONE. With or without amp everything amazing now. Almost wasted money on a different 4 channel amplifier. It was the new pioneer head unit that I'll never buy again. It has the exact same sound issue without an amplifier no matter how well you tune it.
Pros: Works. Goes loud. Great features for my preference.
Cons: Sound isn't right at all. Amped & not amped

Good unit for the price
Edward from Beacon, NY on 11/10/2022

This is a solid, good-featured unit that I needed to replace a dead OE radio in my old Explorer. The illumination is good, the BT hooked right up to my phone (the main thing I wanted), and my local radio stations come in good and solid. The microphone I got for it picks up well and sounds just like a normal phone call according to a friend I called. There was some problem connecting the Spotify SRC to my phone, but luckily I don't really use that when I'm on the road.
Pros: Quick hookup and good features
Cons: Spotify wouldn't connect, and adding favorite contacts requires scrolling through my entire list via the dial. Takes forever.

The unit was easy to install with the provided accessories, but the unit is very lightweight and the face seems really cheap. I've had this stereo for a little less than three years now. It is great when it is working (although as other reviewers have mentioned, the display is fairly dim), but after about a year and a half it developed a problem where the display and controls will shut off while the last music source selected will continue to play. The only way to get the display and controls working again is to shut off the car and restart it again. It's a random problem, sometimes it will go for a while without locking up, but other times it will do it every time I'm in the car. It's very disappointing, given that the problem cropped up after the warranty coverage period expired.

To begin with, even after adjusting the display to the brightest setting as per the instructions, which are confusing, we could barely see the display on a sunny day. I was also disappointed when the sound from the rear speakers dropped out. Crutchfield tech service did a great job walking me through troubleshooting, and the rear output was dead on the receiver. My initial fear buying an aftermarket radio for my 201 F150 revolved around having to easily figure out what does what function wise. I have been very pleased with the controls and features of this radio. I needed my SIRIUS XM back in my life. You will need to buy the SIRRIUS XM Tuner to make the vehicle connect to the radio though. I thought my trucks XM receiver was not part of the original stock radio that quit working. I bought a $16.00 connector that allowed me to connect the trucks factory XM antenna on the roof to the new XM receiver under the dash. All in all very happy.
Pros: Great Pioneer engineering I am use to.
Cons: Maybe if there was a mute feature button, but no gig deal as I do have steering wheel controls available because I bought the interface harness that makes it all work.

Great Replacement Head Unit!
David from Westfield, NY on 2/3/2022
2007 Volvo V70
So far, so good. This was purchased as a replacement for the factory HU-650 radio in a 2007 Volvo V70. This car had about the least options one could order back then, so no under seat amplifier, although this unit has the outputs for it. Note that there is no CD player in this unit, but I have lost a few good CDs in the past to various players have mangled them, so I'm not missing it at all. Actually great sound from the factory mounted speakers, and the steering wheel control kit retains the volume and next track / band functionality. I bet the car gets better gas mileage now too because the HU-650 unit weighs about 3 times what the MVH-S622BS weighs. I love the customization that is possible using the Pioneer Smart Sync software (although not really required), and I also love that I can now use my iPhone to answer phone calls just by pressing a steering wheel button. Be advised, there is no Mastersheet available for the 2007 V70, but there is at least one youtube video (by Peppermint) that accurately depicts how to remove the shifter trim and console fascia to get at the radio. Overall I'm very pleased, 5 stars.
Pros: Since there is no CD player, this radio is not as deep as the oem unit, so there is plenty of space for the Steering Wheel Control (SWC) adapter box, amplifier retention harness (if you have one) and excess wire, etc.
Cons: Other than searching on youtube to figure out how the car comes apart, none.

While researching how to replace the OEM audio system in my 3rd gen 4runner, the name Crutchfield kept coming up. I do not support Amazon. When researching a new purchase I will look at Ebay because most of the vendors are a small business and have low mark ups on prices. I decided to compare the exact product on Ebay and Crutchfield and found the best price on Ebay was the same as Crutchfield's price but Crutchfield offered a vehicle specific wiring harness to ship with the Pioneer MVH-S622BS head and included installation instructions with real person live customer assistance. I expected quality from Pioneer and that's what I got, the "Smart Sync" app is a added gem of a surprise and Crutchfield service is unrivaled.

Cons: They don't send a person to your house to do the installation

Installed in 07 GMC Sierra. Worked great for about 11 months and the the clock kept returning to noon. Then it worked without any issues for the next few months. Now the unit does not work at all! Just found my receipt and warranty expired 3 weeks ago. Guess that's what happens when you buy a cheap product.

Good value. Easy to install with the wiring harness pre-assembled (thanks crutchfield).
Pros: Good value. Customize light color to match your dash lights. Many sound processing modes. Lots of station presets. Handy Pioneer app lets you control radio functionality easily.
Cons: finicky BT connection. Pandora almost never connects properly. If you are connected and switch to radio, the BT audio can be heard playing over the radio station.

I installed this unit in my 2006 GMC Envoy and it worked well everything for about 4 weeks with a decent sound and good connectivity on blue tooth, then while I was driving home the receiver stop working in AM and FM station, zero reception, the next day when I turned on everything was normal for about 2 weeks and then the same I hoped the next day it will return to normal but it never happens, I contacted Crutchfield customer service and I have been waiting for a replacement for a long time but it's out of stock, I order a different unit and waiting for it
Pros: Good quality sound
Cons: Receiver fail

Replaced Factory Radio
Crutchfield customer from E Amherst, NY on 9/13/2021
2010 Toyota Highlander
Replaced factory radio in 2010 Toyota Highlander with this Pioneer unit. Installation was fairly easy, but few details in instructions left out. Thankfully a YouTube video helped. Radio has three Red/White connections for speakers (front, rear, subwoofer) but Ready Harness came with only one pair red/white wire but didn't say which to plug into on radio - tried all 3 all worked same. Also, during install don't unplug connector to air bag light when removing radio console - this is where YouTube video came in handy. Regarding the unit itself, FM sensitivity is on the weak side, so if you live in an area with distant stations, reception may not be good. We noticed some stations that we could pick up on old radio couldn't be picked up on new unit
Pros: Inexpensive, most useful features, very good sound
Cons: Weak FM sensitivity.

Nice app and a nice value headunit
Crutchfield customer from Springfield, IL on 9/13/2021
2007 Cadillac DTS
The pioneer app is far better than expected. The headunit gives you a lot of control over your sound, crossover and even uses a nice network mode for higher end systems with 2 zones of sound. For the price it's a great value, especially for an older vehicle where a screen is unnecessary.
Pros: A good app for controlling the details of sound Small mounting depth, it's great for large harnesses with control boxes for vehicle integration.
Cons: Very little info is available on screen, since it's a limited dot matrix screen. It's hard to navigatr your music collection from the headunit. The app help aliviate it in some apps.

Great Unit, especially for the cost! It took a little bit of time to splice the harness wires to stereo wires. I flush mounted it and then used a PVC grommet i found at Advance Auto to hold the Bluetooth microphone and mounh it in the dash (picture included). It was a little awkward to program, but once i figured it out, it worked great!
Pros: Looks great Works great Pretty simple to install
Cons: Need a heat gun and proper connectors to splice wires Programming is awkward

This is a must upgrade you should do it for your factory radio. I love it. You will not be disappointed, I can assure you for sure. Do not forget to install the pioneer music sync App, it will help you set your radio channels and the rest of the settings within no time. You will feel the difference of day and night even on your factory speakers but I would recommend upgrading it. Installed on Toyota Corolla 2005 CE.
Pros: Lightweight, compact in size, and has many great features.
Cons: So far, I didn't find any.

Crutchfield customer from Livermore, CA on 7/22/2021
2006 Dodge Ram 1500
Wow! Great Stereo! Price was incredible for this product. Lots of options on this deck to fine tune the the sound quality. Love the App feature what a cool way to scroll thru the options and set up. Much easier than clicking through the options on the deck. I'm very pleased and impressed with this deck. My first Pioneer, I've been and Alpine and Kenwood guy my whole life. I purchased this to do a double din deck and didn't like the looks of the Alpines or Kenwoods, so I purchased this to take a chance and I was pleasantly surprised by the functionality, look and sound quality of this deck. I may be sold on the Pioneer products from here on out.
Pros: Just about every feature I'm impressed with. Sound shaping is very user friendly to get the right sound fir my ears. Using the app is the way to go got set up. Love this deck so far!
Cons: Not really anything I don't like, the onboard set up was a little confusing in clicking through the functions due to the digital display and abbreviations of the fictions, but using the app instead corrects that con.

Change for the Better
Crutchfield customer from Fairfax, VA on 7/7/2021
I got this radio to replace a crappy OEM one in a 2008 Toyota Corolla. This one pulls in stations MUCH better than the factory unit, and the menu system is pretty simple to use (though I am still learning all the features). Having a simple-to-use system was important because the car has a manual transmission. The calls I have had have sounded clear, and everyone could understand each other. The Crutchfield wiring harness service is definitely worth it. Time will tell how the unit lasts, but I am definitely optimistic. The description on the website said that a remote is included, but it is optional. I bought one separately for an inexpensive price.
Pros: Simple menu, good color choices, great sound and call quality.
Cons: Not much. Unit did not come with remote (had Crutchfield change the description).

??????
Derek from Denver, CO on 7/5/2021
2007 Honda Civic
I bought this unit for an older Honda Civic to replace the sub par stock system. I opted for this over other similar models because of the crossover and availability due to chip shortages. Generally worth the purchase in my case given I didn't want to spend a great deal on an aging car (I buy cheap since cars are a terrible investment), though I would have waited for a different model had I known about the display issues in sunlight. Definitely improved the sound for very little money.
Pros: - A surprising amount of features for the money. Crossover is a nice touch that helps clean up sound and alleviates the need for bass blockers. - The app is hit or miss depending on the person, but it provides easier access to more features if you're comfortable figuring out how to use it.
Cons: - Text display is terrible under just about any sunlight. This really should never have been cleared by their QA team. Your impact may vary given the angle of the unit in your personal car, along with how much shade is provided to the mounting location. In my case, it's very problematic. - Unit feels a bit cheap, though not unreasonable for the price. I wish the volume knob was a little smoother & more aggressive, but not a deal breaker. Quick mute or power button would be great as well.

Get the harness
XtracycleTony from Milwaukee, WI on 6/30/2021
2010 Subaru Forester
This review is more for the custom wiring harness than the head unit itself. I've installed a number of stereos in my day but I needed to get this car turned around quickly (for my wife and kiddos) and decided to pop the extra money for the premade wiring harness. Do yourself a favor and get this! ZERO soldering or splicing. It took more time to mount the the plastic plates (also included from Crutchfield) than to actually connect and test the until. The Pioneer itself is fine. Feels a little cheap but better sound for the money than the factory stereo and the BT Headset works well. Print out the instructions for programing it. You'll likely need them!
Pros: Looks good and sounds good. Hard to beat for the money for a real brand name system.

Controls are pretty straight forward. Love that it has a nice sized volume knob. The "Smart Synch" app is pretty bad. It's annoying having to approve the connection every time and it doesn't really do much. Bluetooth works very well though. The wires in the harness for this thing are minuscule though!
Pros: Good sound. Quality build. Volume knob!
Cons: Thin wires in harness. Smart Synch app isn't very useful.

I am pleasantly surprised with this MVH-S622BS! It replaced the OE CD player in an '08 Mercury Grand Marquis and is paired with Kenwood KFC-C6896PS all around. Like any new device it takes some time to learn the controls and functions. Once past that it is easy to use and the large volume knob is even better than expected. My only (small) gripe is the tendency to stream music from my device that I hadn't left on or selected in a while. At the price point, its performance is excellent!
Pros: Looks and functions great! Once set up it is easy to use
Cons: Randomly streams music I haven't selected from my device when as soon as it pairs.

Excellent receiver. Hookup pioneer smart app on phone which made it easy to set up. I installed in 2003 4Runner (4th gen) "without" jbl system. When connected, many of the radios menu features disappear and iPhones Siri no longer works. Don't let the app connect and everything works as it should. The Bass button and the phone button should be swapped as that big Bass button will never get used.
Pros:
Cons: Pioneer Smart Sync App. Poor documentation.

Put it in an 06 corolla. Easy install with the adapter kit. Significantly better than stock. Bluetooth is pretty easy although the "spotify specific function" is a bit goofy so I just disabled it and went with normal bluetooth. Bass function works nicely with stock speakers. Some of the functions like pause use the small buttons but no problem once you get used to it. Different backlit colors match stock colors well.
Pros: Bluetooth ease Bass/equalizer Colors are nice Easy install Aux and usb inputs located well
Cons: No disc player (if you want that) Small buttons to get used to

The radio looks much better than a single din! It's fairly simple to set up and the app actually isn't too bad. The only issue after using for about 2 weeks is that when I'm listening to music on Amazon music and get a phone call.. when the call is ended the radio starts playing music from the Apple Music app... weird but not too big an issue! Would recommend

Bill from Carmi, IL on 12/25/2020
2003 Toyota Camry
I have a 2003 Camry XLE with the JBL (non Nav) stereo with the JBL amp. Thank the good Lord I ignored all the hype about having to use 2 ohm or low impedance speakers from Crutchfield and their tech Reps and other sources on the internet. I installed Pioneer TA-A6990F 4 Ohm speakers(which according to Crutchfield aren't supposed to fit the doors) in the doors and the rear deck. I chose the MVH-S622BS because it had 4 volt pre-outs instead of the 2 volt pre-outs. A simple SLA adjustment brought the unit right up to the loudness and clarity I can only take for a little while!! With the sensitivity and freq. response of the TS- A6990F's, I will not be having to add a subwoofer any time soon!! TREMENDOUS improvement over the stock Toyo head unit. Can't review the bluetooth features as I'm retired & refuse to carry a cell phone. Much improved sound, much improved control, and can't beat the USB thumb drives for a music source. Sounded like crap with the OEM speakers installed. Boomy and rattles when you lean on the volume too much. I installed the Pioneer speakers and OMG what a happy major difference. I now have BASS instead of mushy crap and speaker rattles. Can't wait to tackle the tweeters in the dash at a later date!
Pros: Ease of installation, much improvement over stock head unit.

Installed in an 05 Titan with the stock Rockford system. Vastly improved the sound from the stock speakers, the crossover and eq improved the overall sound even more. Then installed two 10 inch subs, lots of adjustments possible from the head unit made everything sound awesome. Easy to hook up to your phone Bluetooth or usb ( iPhone user). Lots of functionality for the price, great sound for the price. Only downside is it pops when it powers off so I need to resolve that issue.
Pros: Lots of functionality for the price

A great value and an excellent replacement for outdated factory-installed radio. I installed it into my 2006 Ford F-150 King Ranch myself. I purchased the suggested harness and was able to keep usage of my factory installed Sub. I never knew my Sub was that powerful! This unit was a perfect match with its' onboard Apps and my music Library and its' 4X50 MOSFET amp! Now I don't need to carry a lighter adapter to connect my phone to the radio via an FM modulator, either!
Pros: Extremely Versatile!
Cons: Menus are difficult to navigate while driving! So make sure to set it all up before you hit the road!

Excellent device that adds flair to your dashboard
Varun from ATLANTA, GA on 11/21/2020
2006 Nissan Altima
This is an excellent replacement stereo to the in-house deck provided from the manufacturer. Sound quality is excellent, bluetooth has been working great with no choppiness or problems except I sometimes have to hit the center button to ensure bluetooth connects, but definitely no issues after that. Even the aux functionality works great. I like the mobile app functionality as an optional feature, though I don't use it much. The options for the colors of the paneling add a new level of charm to your dashboard. I only have two issues with this deck which can be considered minor at best: 1. Sometimes the RDS data from the radio is garbled or doesn't show. I believe this is a radio connectivity or radio channel issue and not something wrong with the deck itself, though I can't be sure. 2. The play control buttons coincide with the number buttons and are not illuminated, making them hard to see at night if I wish to hit the play button. This is again very minor since the deck auto-plays once you connect to Bluetooth, and I use the steering wheel control 99% of the time. Overall, this is an excellent product for a great price, and Crutchfield (particularly Eddie and Treva from Customer Support) did a great job helping me ensure compatibility with my car and timely shipping!

I have been ordering from Crutchfield since the 1970's. They are the best. The first receiver I ordered was a Pioneer supertuner and I loved it! Since then I've gotten Sony and Kenwood, which are fine but this is the best sounding receiver I've ever purchased. I was able to get great sound without a ton of adjustments. The built in power is plenty for my 6.5"s and 4"s with the high pass crossover and I have 2- 8" MTX subs and a Kenwood amp. I got the xm tuner and listen to this most of the time and it works great with Pandora and Spotify. The FM sounds really good even though it's not HD. The phone performance is great and everybody comments on how clear my voice is through the mic. Overall I am extremely happy with the sound, looks and performance of this unit. Thanks again to Crutchfield for the best product at great prices!

Attractive unit with good functionality and connectivity. Shallow depth helps with installation. The screen is actually recessed behind the fascia by about 1/8"; I was concerned it would look goofy, but when the unit is powered on it looks about as good as it does in the product photos.
Pros: Illumination color and brightness can be adjusted to match the OEM dashboard components.
Cons: Please note: Rear speakers are *NOT* enabled by default. You will have to read the manual and change some settings in the 'Initial' menu. That could make for a very confusing and frustrating 45 minutes if you don't know where to look.

I'm a little disappointed with this radio. The bluetooth is subpar compared to my other Pioneer head unit. It takes a little while to connect, sometimes it doesn't even connect I'll have to manually connect it, the bluetooth calling is quiet and it skips like a cd at times. This is definitely not what I'd expect to get when I purchase something from Pioneer, but it does have a good sound, great EQ adjustments, and I like that I can select my colors. All in all, if you're on a budget and dont mind a 30 second or so wait for BT to connect this is a DECENT stereo, just don't expect the quality Pioneer is well known for, this is more on par with Boss or Dual.
Pros: Good sound
Cons: Hit or miss BT connection Slooooow BT connection Quiet BT calling, its actually unusable in my car.

Was great for a month or two then seriously dropped in quality
Victor from INMAN, SC on 4/25/2020
2011 Nissan Juke
My only style-related complaint is the "bass" button, which literally only turns on/off some bass booster function. This is completely unnecessary to have as a front and center main button and should really have been a play/pause button instead, since there is no dedicated play/pause button otherwise. Out of the box, the bluetooth worked great and the accompanying app was really easy to use. After only a month or two of use, both of these have degraded significantly. The app never works anymore. I have to reconnect my phone to the stereo from scratch every single time if I want to use the app (a majority of the radio settings are only accessible from the app). The bluetooth will connect automatically when I turn the car on but will randomly disconnect itself after a minute or two and need to be manually reconnected. After connecting the bluetooth, the sound is spotty and skips around for about 5 minutes before it finally smooths out. If I pause the music for longer than a few minutes, the bluetooth will disconnect again and the cycle begins once more. Nobody else who gets in my car can use the radio; you can connect other phones by bluetooth or USB but it will not play any music from those phones unless they have the app installed, which is ridiculous since the app's main purpose is for radio settings, which none of my passengers need. I have not tested the AUX jack as I do not carry an AUX cord in my car. Overall I don't think this radio has been worth the price.
Pros: Looks good App is handy when it works
Cons: Bluetooth does not work well USB does not work well App frequently does not work Unnecessary "bass" button instead of play/pause button Will only accept audio from phones with the app installed

I had bought speakers but was running the stock receiver and it was not cutting it. I bought this receiver Because I have the single den version in my truck and I love it. I love the tune ability of it. Especially if you have subs, I turn off the bass to the door speakers so there's no distortion in the mids and the bass comes strictly from the subs. Long story short, I definitely recommend

Nice radio but took a few hours to get it wired correctly in out 2014 Jeep Patriot. The wires aren't that big and it's a little hard to see the stripes on the wires that have stripes. That's Pioneer's fault not Crutchfield's. A few phone calls to tech support and we got it done. Just my two cents worth this radio has a lot of bass....almost too much unless you like bass. Smart Sync app is ok but I tried it and wasn't overly impressed with it. When installing in a Jeep Patriot you don't need to remove the metal bracket behind the OEM radio. This Pioneer isn't that deep and fits no problem

Sorry, but I was really looking forward to this being a good radio for my wifes car for hands free calling Bluetooth etc. But after a few minutes of running the scan on the radio kicked on and wouldn't let me get into the menu. After resetting it several time it came back on. The next day the same thing turn up the volume and into scan mode she went again. Played with it a few more days thinking My wife may be hitting he menu button and scrolling thru may have messed up the setting, but no. At one point I got a message on the display, that the "Kenwood" unit couldn't read or find the file on the USB mode? After screwing with it for another day and the repeat happened again, I decided enough was enough. The illumination on the Station readout is horrible, turning up the illumination all the way up, it still was not easy to see the information on the display. Very lightweight unit, put together cheaply, but considering the price point, "you can't always get what you want..." The return by Crutchfield was handled really professionally and I ordered a different radio based on the Reps recommendation. Crutchfield is a pleasure to do business with been with them a long time, this was probably my 5th or 6th purchase. Would definitely recommend the company but not the Pioneer MVH-S622BS.
Pros: Super easy return policy and spectacular service.
Cons: Cheaply made.... run,, don't walk away from this unit.

Looks great and sounds good in my 1994 Corvette.
John P from RIO RANCHO, NM on 3/30/2020
1994 Chevrolet Corvette
I am very happy with the Pioneer MVH-S622BS as it fits my needs perfectly. Because of the shallow design of the digital receiver, I was able to install it in my 1994 Corvette without modifying the stock radio support. I am still working on matching the color to my Corvette's stock orange lighting, but it is close, and the stereo almost looks like it belongs in the car. Even my youngest son, who did not want me to change out the ailing Bose system because he did not want to damage the classic look of the interior, loves the look of the Pioneer. The sound is what I expect from Pioneer, but I will need to add an amplifier. I was hoping to drive my new Polk DB speakers off the head unit given the space constraints in the Corvette, but they need a bit more power. Don't get me wrong--it sounds good as is, and better than the Bose system when I took it out. But it's not as good as the Bose was when it was all working well. I am hoping an amp and maybe a small sub will help with that. Crutchfield's ordering process was great, and the Master Sheet provided with the stereo was very helpful, as was the wiring harness and adapter kit. My only complaint there is the length of the wiring harness. Everything else was great. I will come back and review the Polk DBs once I have an amp and can break them in for a bit.
Pros: -Size, -price -Bluetooth functionality -Overall look.
Cons: -Menu organization is clunky. I was hoping Pioneer's app would help with that, but it is almost as clunky and crashes my phone. -I will need to add an amp to the system, but I expected that might be the case so not that much of a con.

Great sound, horrible app
Eric from Johnson City, TN on 3/5/2020
2012 Subaru Forester
If you're considering this unit because of Pioneer's SmartSync app, make another choice. The unit works MUCH better without the app. It sounds good, huge upgrade from stock. When app is connected to unit: 1) Unable to send a voice command unless your screen is on with app active (drains phone battery) 2) Can't use Google voice commands 3) Can only get voice to text messages from Facebook and WhatsApp 4) Inconsistent connection with Spotify. (Works fine without app)
Pros: Great sound. Looks okay (not a fan of the navigation or bass buttons)
Cons: SmartSync app is essentially useless for everyday use. Big navigation button only works if app is open, and it's much easier to start navigation by voice with app closed.

Great radio
Crutchfield customer from Amherst, OH on 12/28/2019
2008 Honda Civic
I love this radio. It sounds great and the pioneer smart sync app is awesome. You can just draw the line for the eq that you want, which is amazing. It does seem like the firmware must be new, because it is a little quirky. If you sync your iPhone with it once, it wants to sync with it every time you get in the car. It also plots where you parked the car last in maps. Can be annoying. One time, it asked me to allow it to sync and I denied it. Then I clicked radio and it just would not work. No sound. I had to actually pair my phone with it and then it worked fine. All in all, I've had JVC, Kenwood, and Pioneer radios recently and I like this latest version Pioneer better than all the rest. For the money, you can't go wrong.
Pros: Very easy to set EQ with smart sync app Sounds great Looks great Great value for the money
Cons: Little to no instructions come with it about how to operate it. Firmware can be quirky.

Superb Unit

2007 Toyota Matrix
Absolutely brilliant head unit with beautiful sound. Great lows, mids, and highs for being a stock sound system. Lots of customization, and very good bluetooth audio quality. Installs with stock radio's mounting brackets, and the Metra dash kit works well. The long face of the pieces is what will face outwards, mating between your bezel and radio. They WILL need extensive trimming to fit, so get a file. Overall, a brilliant purchase that transformed my silent drives into musical symphonies.
Pros: Lots of customizable options, most of which will come in handy for optimizing a stock sound system. High bluetooth quality Lightweight (about half the weight of the stock stereo) Good-feeling dials (these feel very upscale)
Cons: There is an app called Samsung SmartSync, but it is not intuitive and is a hassle to navigate. Any time I can avoid using the app, I do.

Pros: Looks, sound quality, features, affordability
Cons: App required for Bluetooth and USB connectivity

Amazing receiver with so many great features
James from CLERMONT, FL on 11/6/2019
2013 Honda Civic LX
This receiver has great sound quality. The sound adjustments are the most important feature to me, and the 622BS has a lot of good useful controls including 3 different levels of loudness and separate source volume levels. I have not found a need to change the time alignment settings. The "Vivid" equalizer curve is much better than any eq curve I have yet to set manually. The bass button is super easy to quickly adjust the low end when a track comes up that does not have enough bass in it. The blue tooth phone calls are crystal clear, much better than my factory radio. The 4 volt preamp outputs give a super strong signal and really make a difference in the sound from my amp. The Pioneer Smart Sync app is really cool, it has a lot of good features to it. I really like how when the app is on the driving directions and alerts from Waze play through my amp and speakers. This was one of the main reasons I bought this receiver. It is also easy to scroll through my MP3 playlists on my phone rather than using the search function on the receiver, then just tap the song I want to hear. The app combined with the receiver's functions bring a whole new dimension to car audio. The receiver looks great and there are infinite color combinations you can choose. On mine I made it Aquamarine because I found that to be the most visible color in the daylight. This receiver sounds so good that I can easily overlook the daylight display issue. So far I am super happy with this Pioneer deck.
Pros: Great sound quality right out of the box. Easy to operate while driving. Smart Sync app will take you to a whole new level of car audio. A ton of sound adjustments to get the sound exactly how you like it. The built in equalizer curves sound great but you can add your own custom 31 band or simple Low, Mid and High curve through the Smart Sync App. The sound quality more than makes up for the daylight display visibility issue. I could not see the display on my factory radio very well either.
Cons: The display is hard to see in daylight. It is easier to see it if you are not wearing sunglasses or have sunglasses that are non-polarized. Polarized lenses make parts of the display look like a rainbow. The owner's manual is not very detailed and does not provide all of the directions for the receiver. I went on Pioneer's web site, found the receiver listing and downloaded the complete manual from there. Smart Sync sometimes loses connection and phone has to be paired again. Not a deal breaker.
