Features

Woofers: Each speaker has a mica-reinforced IMPP (injection-molded polypropylene) woofer. This process of cone molding assures a uniform cone thickness to improve linearity and clarity. Additionally, the cones are lightweight and rigid to decrease distortion.

Surrounds: The woofers use rubber treated cloth surrounds for improved durability.

Midrange: Each speaker has a 1-7/8" mixed pulp cone midrange.

Tweeters: Each speaker uses a 3/8" dome tweeter made from PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) film for crisp, clear highs.

Customer Q&A

Q
Can these work with a stock system?
eric  Dec 16, 2023
1 answer
A
This depends on your exact system Eric, but most likely yes! These are an excellent replacement for 4-ohm factory speakers and work really well on the power provided by factory radios and factory amps. Make sure to use our online Vehicle Guide in the link below to confirm fit, and also to make sure your vehicle does not use a lower impedance factory speaker. If your vehicle has a lower impedance factory speaker in place installing the Pioneer TS-G690's would result in a little volume loss. We are always here to help! https://www.crutchfield.com/m_399/Car-Speakers.html

Q
Should the wire with the black runner be positive or negative? I installed a pair of these into my 1968 Chevelle last evening. Went to power up the stereo and the speakers did not work. We tested them with my garage stereo speakers, and the stereo works. We got sound. My only guess is that we have them wired in reverse polarity. New speaker wire, new stereo with full power. My only guess is reverse polarity. So, I guess my question is the same that I asked at the outset. Small spade connector/black runner to the positive or negative speaker wire?
gavin  Jul 01, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Gavin, and thank you for your question. Nice ride BTW. The smaller spade is always negative and the larger spade always positive. Even if you had reverse polarity, the speakers would still work. They would be just out of phase. If your radio in the car is known working, I suspect the speakers have something wrong with them. if you got them from us, the tech support number would be on your shipping email. They can send out new speakers if yours are bad. If you got them elsewhere, take or send them back for new speakers.

Mine were new.. I always buy scratch and dent items. Always work for me.
matthew  Mar 03, 2021
A
It could be either, it could be new and been damaged when recieved, or they could be sold, opened, then returned and resold

Q
WILL THESE WORK WELL FOR THE FRONT DOORS IF PAIRED WITH Item KICKER #: 20646CC674 FOR THE REAR DOORS ON A 2020 FORESTER 6 SPEAKER SYSTEM AND STOCK HEAD UNIT?
john  May 08, 2020
1 answer
A
Hi John, we typically recommend using the same model of speaker for the front and rear speakers in vehicles, in order to create a cleaner sound quality. Please chat with us online or by phone at 1-800-324-9695, we are happy to go over your application, and make other recommendations if needed.

Q
I am thinking of ordering these for the rear deck of my 2009 Dodge Charger SXT. I was at a loss for what to do for the front doors because this sight said that I needed 5 1/4 or particular 6 1/2's. Other sights said 6X9's. Well low and behold i got the door panel off to see. I guess Crutchfield can expand search results because I have 6X9's in the front doors and the rear deck. Now I wonder if these will fit in the doors?
jency  May 18, 2018
1 answer
A
While the stock speakers are 6x9", the factory mounting space is too limited for aftermarket 6x9" to fit without modifications. The available mounting depth, cutout hole, and clearance under the factory grill covers are all issues with the different aftermarket 6x9" speaker models. Every model has an issue with at least one of these factory dimensions. This is why we do not list any aftermarket 6x9" as a "recommended fit" in this location.

I did them out, in the doors of a 2001 Dodge pickup... Quadcab, if that helps ;-)
edward  May 14, 2018

It does not matter just make sure you mount them with symmetry.

I installed mine with the tweeter facing out.

Facing out towards door panel

I am sorry but I can't answer the question. It is not easy to get to the speakers in my grand prix or I would go measure it for you. They fit perfect and easily in my car a 1998 Pontiac grand prix mounted in rear window behind seats in back.
doug  Oct 03, 2017
A
I'm not really sure. I thought this would be a fairly straightforward install but I've discovered that I must bypass factory installed amp in order to not blow speakers, so I'm still working on that in my free time.

Q
Must I use the JBL grills? I would like to keep my Pacifica stock looking?
john  Sep 17, 2017
1 answer
A
I assume you mean the Pioneer grills and, no, you are not required to use them.
