Garmin's DriveCam 76 GPS navigator puts the info you need right in front of you with an eye-friendly 6.95" screen. Garmin also includes built-in Wi-Fi® plus free map and traffic updates for the life of the navigator, so you'll stay current no matter where you roam.

Guidance for your travels...

There's very little room for error on the road, whether you're following directions or trying to avoid collisions. Garmin's DriveCam 76 GPS navigator puts the info you need right in front of you with an eye-friendly 6.95" screen. Garmin also includes built-in Wi-Fi® plus free map and traffic updates for the life of the navigator, so you'll stay current no matter where you roam.

...and a handy dash cam

Thanks to an integrated HD video camera, you'll have a continuous video record of everything that happens on the road before you. Garmin incorporates a G-sensor to automatically save vital footage in the event of a collision, and optional GPS tagging stamps the video with your location, speed, date and time for the most accurate presentation possible. You can easily remove the DriveCam 76 from its mount so you can take high-res photos of any damage done. Garmin includes a 16 GB microSD™ card, but the DriveCam 76 accepts up to a 256 GB microSD card for big-time storage.

The Garmin Drive smartphone app (more on that below) also lets you view your camera footage right on your phone, so you can see what happened without having to access the DriveCam. It also provides access to Garmin's secure digital Vault, which stores your footage in the cloud so you can access them days or weeks down the road if needed. Many of the Drive's app's features are free of charge, but Garmin's Vault service requires a monthly subscription fee.

See it all on a generous screen

The sharp 6.95" pinch-to-zoom display gives you easy access to preloaded maps of the U.S., Canada, and much of Mexico, plus Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. 3-D representations of buildings, landmarks, and terrain help you get your bearings. Active Lane Guidance shows you colored arrows for the correct lane for an upcoming turn, and you'll see realistic depictions of some interchanges with road signs. You can hit the road without using your hands by using your voice — simply speak one of its recognizable commands and it'll get started.

As it also gives you an eye on the road ahead, you'll hear an audible Forward Collision warning if you approach a car too rapidly, and a Lane Departure warning if you veer from your lane. And thanks to built-in GPS, the DriveCam 76 even detects speed and red light cameras on the horizon and gives you a heads up.

The Garmin Drive app provides traffic info and more

Pair the DriveCam with your smartphone and you can take advantage of all the tools in the free Garmin Drive app, including:

  • Live traffic, weather, and fuel prices
  • Video from photoLive traffic cameras
  • Smart notifications from your smartphone
  • Access to the Garmin Vault secure online storage platform for your videos (accessible via Wi-Fi connection)

Incident Detection

Garmin's Incident Detection feature uses a built-in G-Sensor to detect hard braking or a collision, and then saves vital video files for a complete record of the event. Built-in GPS geo-tags your files with latitude, longitude, date, time, speed, and direction of travel to provide a more complete presentation.

Get a heads-up for different scenarios

The DriveCam delivers GPS-based alerts for upcoming sharp curves, school zones, red-light and speed cameras, railroad and animal crossings, and more. The navigator will tell you when there's a change in the posted speed limit on major roads and give you a visual warning if you're exceeding it. It can also tell you if you're going the wrong way down a one-way street.

This Garmin's also compatible with the optional Garmin BC 50 wireless rear-view camera so you can add an extra layer of safety when you're backing out of your driveway.

Foursquare® and Tripadvisor® points of interest, plus national parks

Foursquare's crowd-sourced database of points of interest gives you a whole new take on where to stop for gas, food, lodging, or shopping. You'll see the most relevant Foursquare results at the top of the search bar, so you'll know the destination is verified by actual users. Paired with the Garmin Drive app, you'll also see helpful info such as ratings, hours, and price range displayed on the navigator's screen. And if you're a Foursquare user yourself, you can check in nearly anywhere through the navigator when it's paired with your phone.

DriveCam also includes Tripadvisor ratings for hotels, restaurants, and attractions which are provided by fellow travelers to this popular platform. It also features a database of American national parks, so you can find visitor centers, picnic areas, campgrounds, and more with ease.

Built-in Bluetooth®

Built-in Bluetooth connectivity allows you to conduct calls hands-free with your compatible phone. Most points of interest in Garmin's database include phone numbers, so you can call ahead with one tap of the screen to make reservations at hotels or restaurants. The DriveCam can also show you incoming text messages and notifications on its screen.

Easy updates via Wi-Fi

Nobody wants to hook their navigator up to their computer when it's time to get a map update or other software change. The DriveCam features built-in Wi-Fi connectivity so you can perform updates from your vehicle, so long as you're parked near a Wi-Fi hotspot. Or bring your navigator inside a nearby establishment with a Wi-Fi network and update while you're eating dinner, having coffee, or sleeping.

Note: This dash cam includes a pre-installed 16 GB microSD card for video storage.

6.95" Touchscreen LCD: The DriveCam 76 features a large 6.95" touchscreen display (measured diagonally) with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. Not only can you see your route and video from the dash cam, but the screen splits to show upcoming turns, road warnings, live traffic and weather, fuel prices, and social media notifications, depending on how you have configured your device.

Preloaded Maps: The DriveCam 76 contains HERE's City Navigator North America NT 2023 maps. Maps includes detailed coverage of the United States, Mexico, and Canada, plus Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, and Bahamas.

Free Lifetime Map Updates: The DriveCam 76 offers free lifetime map updates so you'll always have the most up-to-date maps, POIs, and navigation information. Map updates are available for download up to 4 times a year with no subscription or update fees and no expiration dates. Map updates can be obtained by connecting the device to a Wi-Fi network and directly download the maps, or connect the device to your computer and obtain the updates through Garmin Express.

Wi-Fi Compatible: You can keep the device updated with the latest maps and software without connecting it to a computer. When connected to a Wi-Fi network, the device checks for available updates, and displays an icon on the screen. The connected network is added to the list of saved networks, and will reconnect automatically when it is within range.

Garmin Express: You can connect the unit to your computer with the supplied USB cable for downloading map updates, custom POIs, voices, and vehicles. You will need to download the Garmin Express software to update your maps and register the unit. Garmin Express requires Windows 7 SP1 or newer or Mac OS X 10.11 or higher.

Avoidances: You can program the unit to avoid certain things that may be undesirable on your route. The device can avoid areas with environmental or emissions restrictions that may apply to your vehicle. Other examples of things that can be avoided include Toll Roads, U-Turns, Highways, Carpool Lanes, Unpaved Roads, and Ferries. You can also add Custom Avoidances for certain areas and roads.

Power Requirements: The Garmin DriveCam 76 is powered by your vehicle's battery using the included 12-volt vehicle power adapter and USB cable. The built-in Lithium-Ion battery will provide up to 30 minutes of use after a full charge.

Optional Backup Camera: You can add an optional Garmin wireless backup camera, such as the BC™40, BC™50 or BC™50 with Night Vision, allowing you to have a rear view of your vehicle while backing up.

Dash Cam Features

Built-in Dash Camera: The Garmin DriveCam 76 has a built-in dash camera for recording the view of the road ahead as you travel. The camera has a wide 140° field of view, so you can see more of the scene in front of your vehicle. Recorded footage is automatically saved if an incident is detected, including the GPS details of when and where it occurred. You can also manually save your footage at any time. The 1080p video (and audio, if enabled) is recorded onto the provided 16 GB microSD card inserted into the slot on the back panel. Class 10 or higher microSD cards from 4 to 256 GB are supported.

Viewing Videos and Photos: Recorded videos (MP4 format) and photos (JPEG format) stored on the memory card can be viewed on the device. You can view or transfer footage to your computer by connecting the device, or inserting the memory card, into your computer. When you pair the DriveCam 76 to the Garmin Drive app, you can view or transfer videos or photos on your smartphone.

Garmin Vault: Photos and videos can be saved to the secure online Garmin Vault, allowing you to access them using the Garmin Drive app. The free Basic subscription saves your footage for 24 hours from the time of upload. A Standard subscription ($4.99/month) stores your videos and photos for 7 days, while the Advanced subscription ($9.99/month) saves them for 30 days. There is no size limit to the amount of data you can store. Access to Wi-Fi is required to use this feature. You can share video clips with others by sending them a link and temporary passcode.

Red Light and Speed Cameras: The DriveCam 76 provides information about the location of red light and speed cameras, and alerts you when you report a reported red light or speed camera. You can update the database of camera locations using Garmin Express.

Camera-assisted Features: The built-in dash cam enables many advanced features on the DriveCam 76. The Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) provides warnings and alerts of potential dangers as you drive. These features include the Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning systems. The FCWS alerts you when the device detects that you are not maintaining a safe distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you. The LDWS alerts you when the device detects you may be crossing a lane boundary unintentionally.

Navigation Features

Garmin Real Directions: The DriveCam 76 features Garmin Real Directions with easy-to-understand driving directions using recognizable landmarks, buildings, and traffic lights, in addition to spoken street names.

Voice Command: You can use your voice to activate and operate the DriveCam 76. Voice Command allows you to use the device by speaking words and commands and following the voice prompts. After speaking a predetermined Wakeup Phrase ("OK, Garmin"), you can enter the names and/or address of popular, well-known locations. If necessary, you can disable voice prompts without muting the device, so you'll still hear the audible directions as you travel.

Garmin Drive: Garmin Drive is a smartphone application that allows the device to download live data using your phone's data connection, and transferring the data wirelessly via Bluetooth. The free Garmin Drive app provides access to real-time services, such as live traffic, basic weather, live fuel prices, and live parking. Notifications from your smartphone, such as text messages, calendar reminders, or app alerts, are sent to the DriveCam 76 for viewing. Using the app, you'll be able to view your travel plaza loyalty points from participating providers, including Pilot Travel Centers, all across the U.S. Garmin Drive is compatible with devices running iOS 14.0 or later, or Android 6.0 or higher.

Traffic: Using the Garmin Drive app on your smartphone, you can receive subscription-free traffic data for interstates and major highways in over 50 metropolitan areas in the continental U.S. from HERE WeGo. The app has a refresh rate of 1 minute. Garmin Drive also provides advanced weather radar and severe weather alerts.

Points of Interest: The built-in maps include millions of Points of Interest (POIs) from the vast Foursquare® database, such as hotels, restaurants, gas stations, attractions, and ATMs. With the help of TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel site, you can view ratings for many of your destinations. The device includes detailed information for national parks in the United States, including features and amenities available inside the park.

Active Lane Guidance: Active Lane Guidance with voice prompts lets you know in advance which lane you should to be in to make an upcoming turn. In select metropolitan areas, the DriveCam 76 will enter split screen mode to display the Junction View, a realistic depiction of the junction, complete with road signs and brightly-colored arrows to indicate the proper lane for navigation.

Map View Options: You can choose from a 3D map view or two 2D map views (Track Up or North Up) as you navigate to your destination.

Speed Limits: As you travel along a major road or street, the speed limit is displayed on the screen alongside of the vehicle's speed display. If you are exceeding the speed limit, a tone will sound, and the color of the vehicle speed indication will change to red. If the highway's posted speed limit has changed since the last map update, you can change the speed limit display on the unit.

Where Am I?: The "Where Am I?" feature gives you instant access to important information in case of an emergency. When you touch the vehicle icon on the map screen, the "Where Am I?" feature provides the coordinates (including elevation) of your current position, plus the nearest address and intersections. There are also buttons to help you locate the nearest hospitals, police stations, gas stations, and roadside assistance. You can also save the location for future reference.

Up Ahead: As you travel along your route, the Up Ahead feature constantly indicates the location of nearby businesses, including gas, food, lodging, restrooms, parking, and banks and ATMs. The locations are shown as icons, some with brand logos, and when the icons are touched on the screen, details of the services are displayed, and you are given the opportunity to navigate to that address.

Destination Search: When the Where To? button is pressed, you can use the search tools to find your destination and plan your route. The search tools allow you to search for cities, addresses, intersections, or coordinates. The Search Bar lets you directly enter a category, brand name, address, or city name. The unit's memory stores the last 50 locations you have found so you can quickly find a previous destination.

Trip Data: A shortcut on the map screen leads you to the Trip Data page. At a glance, you can see your direction of travel, elevation, two trip odometers (A & B), your average speed, as well as your moving average speed, the total time spent stopped, and the time of sunset or sunrise. Digging deeper into the page, you can view your maximum speed, total moving time, total trip time, the coordinates of your current location, and the GPS accuracy (in feet).

Trip Log: The device keeps a Trip Log, which is a record of the path you have traveled. The Travel History setting must be enabled in order for the Trip Log feature to function.

GPS Simulator: When indoors, you can activate the built-in GPS simulator and practice using the unit. This turns off the GPS receiver so it's not searching for satellites, saving battery power.
