About the PowerBass OE-690D

Alexander H.

Designed to work with your factory system

Many premium factory audio systems use low-impedance speakers to provide more volume with less power. Replacing those speakers with aftermarket 4-ohm speakers could deliver underwhelming sound. That's why PowerBass designed their OE-690D 6"x9" midrange speaker to work with a factory radio or amplifier in a 2-ohm or 8-ohm system. It's an ideal way to step up to aftermarket quality sound even though you want to keep your factory radio.

2-ohm or 8-ohm impedance

PowerBass offers a solid upgrade from your flimsy factory speakers. A polypropylene and carbon fiber woofer cone ensures smooth performance with minimal distortion. This speaker's high efficiency provides excellent output no matter the power supply, and its dual voice coil design allows you to wire the speaker for 2-ohm or 8-ohm impedance.

Grilles not included.

Q
I have a Polk audio c4 subwoofer, would these speakers be a good replacement for the old mobile monitor speakers that are no good?

We need to know your specific vehicle's details to provide any fitment information, Shane. Some 6x9's may fit but potentially not all! Use our Vehicle Guide in the link below to confirm that these will fit in your vehicle. If so, these would be a fantastic replacement for a worn or damaged pair of speakers! If you have any questions or concerns or need help placing your order, please reach out at 1-800-324-9695 and a live Advisor would be happy to help. https://www.crutchfield.com/m_399/Car-Speakers.html

Q
I have a 12 Camaro Boston acoustic 2ohm speaker 6x9 with bi amp factory amp system that has 2 sets of wires for each speaker and I need new speakers are these the ones I would need??? Since they have dual voice coil and 2 pod and 2 neg terminal

Technically, these speakers could be used. However, these speakers will likely struggle to play higher frequencies since they are only rated up to 5,500Hz. Our advisors can help explore other options via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
Will these work for 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Rd front door speakers?
ray  Feb 23, 2023

A
Greetings Ray, and thank you for your question. These are a bit different than an average speaker. You asked if they would work. Well not with a factory non-amplified set up. They are dual voice coil 4 ohm midrange speakers. They are going to be wired to either 2 ohms, or 8. At 2 ohms with the factory radio, good chance you cook the built in amplifier the radio has. If your Tacoma came with the JBL system, the speakers wired to 2 ohms would the same impedance as the factory speakers. Another problem, they are also deeper than allowable space before hitting door glass, or window tracks. So, can they work? Depends on the application, and if you are willing to make the needed adjustments to acquire more depth for them to fit.

Q
I have a 53 Ford with one dash mounted 6x9. Can I use this speaker with a modern Single DIN Receiver and wire the left input to one voice coil and the right input to the other. Receiver is 4x16wRMS@4ohm. I realize I won't have true stereo sound with this configuration, but is it safe for the speaker?
brandon  Jan 14, 2023

A
This will not be a good match due to the 2 or 8-ohm impedance sadly, Brandon. If you have a classic hotrod and need the single dash speaker location, we have you covered. Check out the RetroSound R-69N single 6x9 in the link below. This is the right impedance, and can handle 100-watts RMS. If you have the single dash speaker location, this RetroSound is surely the way to go! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_068R69N/RetroSound-R-69N.html

Q
I'm considering these for replacement of 4ohm woofers in my Acura TSX rear deck speakers, would these work given they can be wired for 2 or 8ohm?

A
They will make sound. But will overheat the amplifier and let the smoke out eventually
martin  Apr 21, 2022
A
You can use them but giving the fact the factory ones are 4 ohms you would have to wire them in parallel for a 2 ohm load. You don't want to run them at 8 ohms series load cause you'll lose alot of sound that way.

Q
For a 2005 Acura TSX with factory radio, should these be wired with 2-ohm or 8-ohm impedance for best sound?
kristian  May 22, 2021

A
I believe these can be wired in 2ohm or 4ohm. My stock system is 2 ohm so that's how I wired them. I can tell u that these speakers sound really great but u would need to check the factory specs of your current system to see what would work best. Sorry I don't have a better andwer
