Product Research

Features

Overview: Dynamat DynaCore (1") Black Thermo-Acoustic Fiber is designed to both dissipate sound and absorb heat. Its unique construction allows it to be lightweight, flexible, and compressible, while still retaining excellent absorption and thermal insulating properties. DynaCore includes one 54" x 32" x 1.0" sheet of heat/noise absorber with peel-off adhesive backing. The sheet's facing is resistant to moisture, UV light, gasoline, and temperatures up to 350°. A 1/2" thick version of the DynaCore 54" x 32" sheet is available here.

Applications:

  • Vehicle Engine Compartment: The Dynamat DynaCore Black Thermo-Acoustic Fiber can be used for lining the inside of your vehicle hood and firewall, minimizing heat and noise from entering the interior.
  • Vehicle Interior: DynaCore can provide excellent noise-absorption for your vehicle door interior, speaker openings, and more. The thermo-acoustic fiber material can installed behind speakers to help eliminate speaker back-wave distortion, panel vibration, and block road noise.
  • Marine & RV: Dynamat DynaCore can be used to line boat and marine-craft engine compartments. It can also be used to line the inside of RV "doghouse" engine covers and inside generator housings.

Compliance: Dynamat DynaCore is compliant with UL94, MVSS 302, UL HF1, and UL HBF standards.

Customer Q&A

5 questions already asked

Q
Can this be used to suppress the sound of a banging radiator for the home? We don't turn the radiator on but it bangs when the pipes warm up in the whole apartment radiator system. I want to wrap this material around the cold radiator for sound suppression but want to make sure it won't catch fire if the radiator accidentally comes on. Also, Is this material non toxic if we are breathing in the same room or if we are sitting or sleeping next to the radiator if it is covered in this material?

A
Greetings Caroline. thank you for your question. We would not be the best to answer this. We offer this for vehicles to reduce road noise, and as a liner in a floor or roof to reduce interior heat. Not sure if it will work for the application, you need it for, but you can call the manufacture at 513-860-5094, see what they might have to say about your application. It is rated for temperatures up to 350 degrees, and because it goes into a vehicle that is driven daily, I doubt it is toxic.

Q
Can this be used to replace industrial wool lined inside a ported speaker cabinet?

A
I see no reason why not, Darryl. The Dynamat Dynacore is designed for use in high heat environments but could also be used for a sonic upgrade to your speaker cabinets. It offers outstanding low-frequency absorption and is lightweight, flexible, and compressible, plus it is self-adhesive so it will stay where you put it!

Q
what is the best product to reduce noise inside the cab of a John Deere Gator (diesel)?
james  Oct 19, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings James. Thanks for your question. What maybe be best, we dont know what would be best for sound deadening a JD Gator, but most anything is going to help. We sell a lot of different products from the Dynamat company. Depends what location you need the sound deadening.

Q
What is the NRC rating?
court  Apr 29, 2025
1 answer
A
Dynamat does not list the NRC rating in the specifications for the DynaCore Thermo-Acoustic fiber in 1" thickness, Court. I reached out to Dynamat directly, and this is due to that specification being closely guarded by Dynamat. What they could divulge is that the DynaCore works extremely well to absorb sound in the desired install location!

Q
Dynamat's hoodliner has many of the same use cases. It would be helpful to provide details on the differences between similar products from the same company and when one should be used vs the other. The radiant barrier on the hoodliner makes a big difference in heat rejection. So when would you use one vs the other?
michael  Apr 25, 2024
1 answer
A
Which product to choose would depend on the specifics of your install and your personal preference and goals, Mike. You can use Dynamat's Hoodliner and DynaCore Thermo-Acoustic fiber in similar applications, if you need help choosing which is best for you and your personal goals give us a call at 1-800-324-9695 and a live Advisor would be happy to help!
