Not what I expected from a Sony product

Poor picture quality. Color bleeds, unfocused, not significantly clearer than the 2010 Mitsubishi 75" screen it replaced. Definitely looks like we gave up a much better picture in order to have an 85" screen. I would gladly pay twice this price to get a better quality picture.

Great picture quality

We purchased the Bravia for my Aunt and Uncle who are in their 80's and were having trouble seeing the picture on their old television. The Bravia has a great picture quality and is a significant improvement for them.

Un natural picture

I still enjoy my 7-year old Sony KLD 55" .... Great NATURAL picture, and limited useless 'bloat' add-ons. I was hoping to get a larger Sony TV. But this is a Google TV. I don't want a "google" TV. I saw this TV at a retail store. The picture is TOO BRIGHT. It doesn't look natural.. It looks more like a magazine photo... no DEPTH to the picture.

Lovely picture

Lovely picture!! Fairly easy (for me, anyway) installation and setup. Integrated with my current A/V system quite easily. Not much to say about the Google TV features as of yet (I use a ROKU ultra). Tuner is very good; pulls in all 30+ local channels. On-screen TV guide for over-the-air broadcasts is superior to my previous TV(Samsung). Sound is more than adequate for sport/casual viewing; what I'd expect from a TV. For movies and music I run it through my stereo using the optical connection. Quality I've come to expect from SONY. I'm hopeful this also lives up to the durability/longevity of my other SONY devices.

Excellent picture

We bought this to replace a 15 year old 37" Sony Bravia. I had several questions prior to the purchase and the team at Crutchfield were great responding. The picture quality is excellent and it pairs well with the Sony soundbar purchased at the same time. The only downside is the installation instructions are in picture form and were slightly confusing and there was no owners manual provided by Sony with the TV. Also, as others have mentioned, it took longer to set up the Google Assist than to physically install the TV. The TV was sent UPS freight and arrived in excellent condition. Overall, pleased with this purchase and the Crutchfield team.

Not Impressed

I haven't unboxed my set yet. I am reviewing the delivery, which I was thoroughly unimpressed with. Truck arrived with one person who was on the phone the whole time of the unloading. He had a lousy demeanor and was not at all friendly and was more interested in the phone call he was on. When the door was raised on the truck, you could see that the TV was not at all secured in the truck and the box was on its side! When asked he gave me a BS answer about him doing that before his arrival I had to help him unload it from the truck and carry it 5 feet inside my door. I won't be unboxing this set for another week or two. I hope it works alright. You need to contact your shipper. I find what I described as totally unacceptable .

This replaced an older Bravia that ceased working. We stream only, over CAT5 direct to router. There's a noticeable improvement in loading and streaming of PBS, Netflix, Prime, etc. Newer technology, faster processors. Setup was easy. We are happy with the purchase.

Wished I bought something else

I purchased the 55 inch Bravia 8 about a month ago and I have been unhappy with my purchase ever since. Sure, ultra definition content is excellent on the screen but older content broadcast in 480 is extremely blurry on this TV. In addition, I have not been able to change the aspect ratio using the menu. I even contacted Sony for help but they couldn't figure out how to make this change either. Lastly, I use a Home Theater receiver with this setup for my audio. My previous Sony Bravia TV had no issues with the sound but this TV drops the sound output frequently if I change the channel or go to an App. I even upgraded my system from an Onkyo to a Denon and changed the HDMI cables to new 48gbps 8k cables to no avail. Sony hasn't figured this out. I wish I had purchased another brand. My previous Bravia was the cheapest Sony LED TV a couple of years ago and honestly it is better in many ways. I forgot to mention that the on-board audio is pretty awful.

Diehard Sony fan

Only had for a little over a week. Performance of tv itself is super. Purchased to replace a 6 yr. old Sony XBR49X900F that is showing some issues. Also have Sony Home theater receiver, BD player, CD changer, and dual deck tape recorder that have been in service for years; thus the allegiance to Sony products. Struggling though connecting all these components (probably due to my age and limited tech ability). Really not thrilled with Sony's current type on owners manuals. No where near the detail of older documents. As I said quite happy with the picture and sound quality of this unit and can't say enough for Crutchfield service. This is my 4th purchase from them and have never been disappointed. 5 stars for Crutchfield.

Sony Color and Processing Wins out!!

What can you say about the reference quality of Sony and their XR processing. I purchased the X90L for my bedroom. Running Sony OLED in two other spots in the house, but didn't figure I needed that quality for casual viewing in the bedroom. But still, while this doesn't compare to the OLEDs, it is still a great display, especially for the price. I have it configured with an AppleTV 4K and set up for Dolby Vision. Sound wise, I have it set up with a 2-channel setup, a Denon 3700 AVR and Ohm Walsh Tall 2000 speakers, and GoldenEar Sub. The X90L was super easy to set-up. I like Sony's use of Google for their operating system. Honestly, the X90L is the best bang for the buck. I found a few other TVs that looked better on paper and less expensive, also with great reviews, but at the end of the day, Sony is the reference standard whose picture color and processing capability simply can't be beat. Very Highly recommended!!

Excellent TV for our new house.

Only had it a couple of days and have not done any tuning yet but out of the box the picture is oustanding. I am sure it will get even better when I tune it. It does a great job of upscaling HD content, Youtube TV looks great. Can't say anythign about the sound as I use Sonos for audio. The TV is big as you would expect. Wall mounted it, we struggled a bit with mounting it as it is pretty darned heavy.

Great tv for the price great colors

Got the 85 inch screen and it's so awesome the picture is really good the colors are vibrant and so many options to pick for your needs, so the reason I gave 4 stars and not five is that Sony is working on a solution for the screen going black with a line of pixels on the left side of the screen. The solution for now is to unplug the tv for 2 minutes or hold the power button and do a restart if it happens, it happens to me like once a month or like every 2 to 3 weeks. This is not Crutchfield's fault. But I am very happy with the tv and all the features it has , beside that one glitch the tv is great, I did contact Sony and have a case number and they are aware of the issue and it's also on the Sony website if you go to Sony support they are working on a update to improve the problem. I will try to leave a pic so you can see the Sony going black screen problem and then a pic of the amazing tv it is. Over all this tv for the price is great.

Really well built. The image looks crisp and smooth, and can get really bright. Feels comparable or even better than some similar priced models from other brands with technology like quantum dot or mini LED. And the built-in Google TV saves me a port to hook up to Chromecast.

Totally amazing. It came in 3 to 4 days just like they promised. It arrived in a box that has handles this 85 inch TV was carried into the house straps cut off box lifted up off the TV, picked it up and plugged it into the HDMI which was plugged into my Marantz home theater system, and it worked perfectly.

Great on all fronts

TV is awesome. I did a good bit of research on this model before pulling the trigger and I'm pretty impressed with its picture quality and performance. I was very impressed with the packaging. I've ordered plenty of nice items over the years that have to ship a good distance and this was some of the best packaging I've ever seen for an item. I recommend ordering this through Crutchfield if you're considering it. At the time of my order, they were $100 cheaper than Amazon so I went with Crutchfield. Very happy customer!

Absolutely pleased with this TV and first time purchase experience with Crutchfield. I received a courtesy call shortly after placing my order to confirm details - nice touch in 2024 when every company seems to have moved away from actual humans. The TV arrived via UPS freight which was a new experience for me but worked out great. I received a call when the shipment was in my local area to schedule delivery. The driver even assisted with moving the TV into the house. TV looks and works great of course!

Honest feedback

1 star based on the condition of the unit. See pics. It is frustrating as an older customer, I had to recruit help setting it up and repackaging. Sony suggests 3 persons to lift. I did speak with CS immediately, and submitted photos. I was under the impression a return was processed, but no email nor call for two days now. It has to be picked up due the size. I did not receive any form of communication on delivery status. Truck just showed up. Two suggestions for any potential buyers. DOCUMENT condition and buy a pizza for a couple of friends, it is a beast! All my televisions are Sony and my last one was purchased from Crutchfield several years ago. Hopefully my comment doesn't get "scrubbed" and I doubt I will win the contest, but this is honest and objective. BTW. I purchased my first car stereo from here, a Pioneer Super Tuner III back in 1980. I would like to hear Mr. C address the shipping issues with us. Give me a choice to purchase extra packaging and/or shipping such as overnight for a $2,000.00 amplifier. Too many products being delivered to addresses other than my own. Very stressful.

The picture is really really great! Get this Tv for sure! I definitely reccomend getting the 55 inch version because I have learned that watching 720p resolution with streaming services looks sharper on a smaller TV..and this Tv is sharp! Even Pluto TV looks mostly sharp.. The colors on this TV are amazing..so easy to setup - the legs just slide in - no screws necessary...I was shocked to see how sharp 720p resolution looked on philo - maybe i was watching in 1080 full HD..it looked sharp! And colors are punchy and the set is really bright..I just opened the box and put it in vivid mode and that's all I had to do..it looks perfect out of the box that way.. I'm in love with this TV..the matte screen will take some getting used to, but it's better than glossy to dull reflections..I was worried it would dull colors but nope - the colors really pop and the brightness is amazing! You need this set in your life...it's better than my Lg C1 Oled and way better than my Sony X95K Mini Led..This set is very much like my Sony 900F was but brighter...the Sony 900f was my favorite TV..now this is my favorite TV Finally, Cructchfield seriously had this to me in 2 days across the USA...big props to Crutchfield for 2 day shipping..I ordered it late afternoon one day, and an hour later, it had shipped out - and yes it got to me in two days..I was worried because I only had 3 days off from work to be home to accept the TV, but it literally got to me in 2 days.my 3'r

Beautiful screen, terrible user interface

The picture is great. The OS/UI is a cluttered mess. Settings are buried in sub menus which requires a lot of Googling. For instance, the default layout feeds you non-stop video advertisements. I had to Google where to find the "Apps only" setting to turn off the video stream. When streaming music using airplay or chromecast the ambient mode turns on which plays background music at the same time my stream is playing. Its incredibly annoying and even adjusting the power settings doesn't disable it.

Excellent Product

TV was easy to setup especially with my new Sony receiver and DVD player. Picture is excellent and setup with Prime and Apple TV is simple. Haven't gotten into setting up Fubo or Disney+ but don't anticipate any problems. I still have some fine tuning to do but overall love the TV and would recommend it.

Sony 55 in LED TV

Excellent LED TV, the picture is stunning, crisp and clear, movement is very well rendered, if you have a 4K Blu-ray player you will really appreciate this TV. Picture is far and away better than the lower priced units normally sold at big box stores. HDMI devices were easy to connect and configure, the TV automatically recognizes the resolutions needed for various new and legacy devices, but you can customize these settings if needed as well. Very nice build quality, typical of Sony products, you get what you pay for.

Installed about 10 hours ago.

Very well packaged and not too hard for 1-2 people to maneuver box. Good instructions on how best to get this TV out of box. Why I gave it 4 stars: Not too good on how best to put wall brackets on that are not the SONY brand. No dims from top or bottom to VESA bolt pattern - Best I could measure alone and holding box UP is: top edge to upper holes is about 20" give or take 1/2". I was looking for bottom edge to lower holes but that was impossible alone. SONY add locating dims for these mounting holes and go to a wider VESA pattern on such a large TV - Would feel more stable and I could reach tilt locking hardware. And why cannot electronic tech objects not come with a proper PAPER owner's manual? I hate online manuals when setting up and testing a new piece of electronic gear. Easier to hold paper than read anything on a phone or pad or lap top or whatever. Also when I drop a paper manual it does not break! Crutchfield kinda crazy to send me a review email before I even get the TV. Maybe wait a couple weeks or months after it is delivered so I can use this TV and learn about it and honest review with greater depth and knowledge. Now off to find sort manual so I can learn about all the junk in the setup and other menus. I hope I never have to come back and add to this review about anything negative.

I have not been able to watch the TV since I bought it. I called a service provider from your list, he made it worse. I called 3 of your stores. NO ONE CAN/ WILL help me. I am left with a TV & no service. I NEED HELP. PLEASE HELP ME! I GET SOME VERY OLD 1950s shows. Very blurry & cuts off in the middle. So I have to give your product a poor rating since I have no way to know if it is any good. Don't you have anyone you can send from your company?

Exceptional TV / Outstanding Customer Service

This 85 inch TV is amazing. Colors are bright and vibrant. Sony does a great job with motion and processing of images. The quality of this tv is evident when you unbox it. The metal beveled edge looks really nice. The operating system of this TV works well and is easy to use and navigate. Every command is quick and responsive unlike my last TV from another manufacturer. This is Sony's top level LED and it shows. I own a Sony 48 inch OLED and comparing the two they are very close. The OLED excels is depth of color especially black but this TV is very close. Also clarity and sharpness are a little better on the OLED but for an LED with no fear of burn in ever, you can't go wrong with this choice. It is by far the best value in the SONY TV lineup. Quality throughout. Also want to say Crutchfield's customer service with the purchase of this product was impeccable. The first two TV's I received through UPS Freight were damaged. Crutchfield made it right every time. After the second one was received with a cracked screen Crutchfield pre inspected and provided extra packing material and double boxed the last TV so it would endure the trip from Virginia to Louisiana. It arrived in perfect condition. I want to thank those people at Crutchfield who helped me and I will do business with them in the future. They excel at customer service and I appreciate their efforts.

Picture quality is top notch; however, due to the black colors being so sharp, it gets glare on the screen from lamps if the lamps are facing the tv. We have to cover the shades to eliminate the glare.

We Found Our New Favorite TV!

We thought our 15 year old 40-inch Sony was going to last forever. Seriously! It was the best tv we'd ever had. When it suddenly died, we started intensely searching the current tv market. I put all of my spare time, and stayed up late each night for almost a week. Much of that time was spent reading reviews - especially the negative ones. I wanted a good price, but not at the expense of quality. When I finally happened upon this Sony BRAVIA XR55X90L, I stopped looking at any other sets and just looked for more and more information about this 55-inch Sony. It also was the largest set that our furnishings would accommodate. And when I found that Crutchfield had them in stock -- I knew the purchase and delivery would be smooth and fast. We expected it to be a pretty amazing television set, but this picture absolutely blows our old Sony away! So far, we've been too busy watching our favorite shows to hook up our old (but still good) 5.1 theater sound system. But the basic speakers in this Sony XR55X90L are quite good. We'll probably only use the theater sound for watching concerts.

Item was well packed. Good picture detail with a lot of adjustability. Very sturdy stands that are height adjustable. The sound is pretty bad. Just plan on using a sound bar if you buy this model. The remote control is okay, but I will be using a Fire Stick to better control DirecTV Stream.
