Product Research

Features

CRUX Smart-Play Integration System: The CRUX ACPCH-01 Smart-Play Integration System has a built in Dual-Link module that allows the connection of Apple iOS or Android OS devices and aftermarket cameras to your vehicle's factory system. The CRUX ACPCH-01 seamlessly integrates with the factory-installed system for CarPlay and Android Auto integration, plus the addition of a front camera (sold separately) and retention of the factory backup camera (if equipped).

Vehicle Compatibility: The CRUX ACPCH-01 Smart-Play Integration System is compatible with select 2011-2017 Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, and Maserati vehicles that feature a factory 8.4" or 4.3" screen, and is compatible with UConnect.

Make Model Year
Chrysler 300 (8.4" or 4.3" Screen) 2011-2014
Dodge Charger (8.4" or 4.3" Screen) 2011-2014
Challenger (8.4" or 4.3" Screen) 2015
Journey (8.4" or 4.3" Screen) 2011-2017
Fiat Freemont (4.3" Screen) 2011-2014
Maserati Ghibli (4.3" Screen) 2014-2017
Quattroporte (4.3" Screen) 2014-2017

Note: There are dip-switches on the included vehicle integration module to identify screen size.

Apple CarPlay & Android Auto Integration: The CRUX ACPCH-01 allows you to integrate Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into your vehicle's factory radio and speaker system via USB connection of your Apple iPhone (iOS 7.1+) or Android smartphone (OS 5.0+). Apple CarPlay & Android Auto apps can be displayed and controlled from your vehicle's factory 8.4" or 4.3" touchscreen monitor, while audio is heard from your vehicle's factory speakers. A wired microphone is also included that allows you to control Apple CarPlay and Android auto application via your voice using Siri or Google Assistant.

Note: The USB port is only designed for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. It does not support the connection of other Apple or Android devices. It also does not support USB thumbdrives, HDDs, or card-readers.

Front & Rear Camera Inputs: The CRUX ACPCH-01 retains your vehicle's factory backup camera and adds dynamic parking guidelines to make backing up and parking easier. It also allows you to add an aftermarket front camera (sold separately) to your vehicle's factory radio. The front aftermarket camera will automatically show on the screen when the gear is put to drive from reverse.

Note: The ACPCH-01 also offers front and rear camera manual trigger output wires if you want to install toggle-switches to control when the cameras display.

Installation & Connectivity: The CRUX ACPCH-01 features a two module design with a vehicle interface module and a smartphone integration module that install behind the factory radio and dash.

  • The vehicle interface module plugs in between your vehicle's factory touchscreen radio and factory radio harness using the included T-harness and proprietary LVDS video cable.
  • The smartphone integration module features a USB-A port and comes with a 40" USB extension cable to connect your Apple CarPlay or Android Auto device. The smartphone integration module also contains a minijack input to connect the included wired microphone for the ability to control CarPlay and Android Auto apps with your voice.
  • The smartphone integration module and vehicle interface module connect to one another via the included 39" HDMI cable which allows Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to display on the factory radio's touchscreen.
  • The smartphone integration module also features a minijack output and comes with a 6.5' stereo minijack cable to connect to your factory radio's Aux input, so audio from Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is heard through the vehicle's speakers.
  • The vehicle interface module's T-harness features composite video jack for adding and aftermarket front camera (sold separately), while also retain the factory backup camera (if equipped).

Note: The vehicle interface module receives its power through the included T-harness that plugs into the factory radio and factory radio harness. The smartphone integration module features a power and ground wire that will need to be hardwired to +12V accessory power and connected to the vehicle's chassis.

OSD Control Pad: The include OSD control pad is connected temporarily to adjust menu settings of the CRUX ACPHC-01 Smart-Play Integration System through the factory radio's touchscreen. The ACPHC-01's on-screen menu automatically pops up on the factory radio's touchscreen when the OSD Control Pad is connected.

Dimensions: See below for dimensions of the vehicle interface and smartphone integration modules.

  • Vehicle Interface Module: 5.3125" (w) x 0.8125" (h) x 5.8125" (d)
  • Smartphone Integration Module: 8.5625" (w) x 0.9375" (h) x 3.3125" (d)

Q
Will the USB connection provide power to the smart phone?
tim  Jan 27, 2023

A
Greetings Tim, and thank you for your question. I reached out to the fine people at Crux because its not in the spec sheet, but it will offer phone charging while plugged in. They did not have at what amperage though.

Q
Where does the module install? I have a 2011 Chrysler 300c and can find nowhere behind factory radio components where this module would fit.
james  Jan 23, 2023

A
Greetings Mitch, and thank you for your question. I did check pictures of your dash with the radio removed and you are correct, there is no room for any other modules. In this case, the modules would have to go under the dash, or off to one side of the radio cavity. They include a 23 inch T harness for that reason. I suspect the manufacture did their homework, and found no room behind the radio before making that T harness.

Q
CRUX ACPCH-01 I have a 2012 Dodge Charger rt with the alpine system and it looks like this kit won't work with the alpine stereo? Would like to know asap because I was ready to purchase it right now. Thanks

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

I would recommend that if you decide to install this to do it professionally. It requires a wire tap into your 12V adapter in the front. Also to calibrate is a pain. I bought this and had to return it for my 17 maserati ghibli. I would suggest just getting a new head unit with screen that has Apple play/ Android auto already installed. They have plenty to choose from on crutchfield.

Q
After install - where do you connect your phone? The vehicle USB port?
stephanie  Nov 14, 2021
1 answer
A
No, there is an USB cable that connects directly to the module and place somewhere easy to reach so you can connect your phone USB cable to it. If you want to connect to the car USB you will have to buy an adapter that converts the female USB to whatever plug behind the car USB socket.

Q
Can I add a Wireless Carplay adapter to this Interface?
gonzalo  Oct 05, 2021

A
We do not have a wireless CarPlay adapter that will work with this interface.

Q
Will this allow you to toggle between Android Auto and the factory UConnect/Beats interface on a 2014 Charger? How do you toggle? Are there any controls that are lost?
arthur  Mar 09, 2021
1 answer
A
Two ways, once you calibrate your screen touch and hold the upper left corner of the uconnect screen for 3 to 5 seconds to switch back and forth. Also you can on the steering wheel controls hold the back button for the menu on the steering wheel for 3 to 5 secs.
omarrie t  Mar 09, 2021
Q
Will this work with my 2017 ram 1500 Laramie?
ryan  Nov 20, 2020
1 answer
A
This unit will not work in your pickup. At the time of this reply, we do not have one that will. That could change in the future and I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to check
