Keep your factory options

Crux's SWRHK-65S interface ensures that you can keep the factory steering wheel controls in select 2009-14 Hyundai or Kia models when installing an aftermarket radio. Connect this interface to the wires on your new stereo's wiring harness, and you've covered the power, ground, and factory speaker connections for your new stereo. You'll retain the use of your factory amplifier, if present. The interface also retains the auxiliary input in your Hyundai and Kia models, if your new car stereo has a rear aux input.

You'll only be able to retain your steering wheel audio controls with a compatible car stereo made by Alpine, Boss, Blaupunkt, Clarion, Dual, Jensen, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony or Soundstream. No other brands are currently compatible.

Radio Replacement Interface: The CRUX SWRHK-65S is a radio replacement interface for select Hyundai and Kia vehicles. It facilitates the integration of an aftermarket radio to enable retention of certain factory features when replacing a factory-installed radio and is also pre-programmed for retention of steering wheel controls.

Retains Factory Amps: The CRUX SWRHK-65S interface will retain your vehicle's factory amplifier and fade control (when applicable).

Steering Wheel Control Retention: The CRUX SWRHK-65S comes pre-programmed to retain the factory steering wheel controls in your vehicle. The SWC harness consists of a right-angle 3.5mm connector and blue/yellow wire; you'll only use the connection type your aftermarket radio is equipped with. There is also steering wheel control (SWC) adapter for aftermarket radios with a 3-wire steering wheel control input. The SWRHK-65S will work with any of the listed aftermarket radio brands that feature a steering wheel control input using the appropriate harness, connector, and dip-switch settings (see owner's manual for appropriate settings).

  • 3.5mm Connector: Alpine, Clarion, Dual, Jensen, Pioneer, and Sony
  • Blue/Yellow Wire: Kenwood and JVC
  • 3-Wire Adapter: Other aftermarket radios (like Boss) with SWC Key 1, SWC Key 2, and SWC Ground wires
  • Green Wire (LIN-Bus): Not Used (tape off).

Factory Aux Input Retention: The SWRHK-65S interface module will retain your vehicle's factory aux input through its stereo RCA jacks. Your aftermarket head unit will need to have a rear Aux input.

Antenna Adapter: The SWRHK-65S provides a motorola to 2-wire antenna adapter to retain your vehicle's factory antenna.

Hey Oliver, it looks like you will not be able to retain the factory USB ports in that Kia with that wiring harness or any of the ones that we would use for that installation. You would need to add something like an in-dash USB kit like this with your install to have an in-dash USB tied in with an aftermarket headunit: https://www.crutchfield.com/I-rET1c402/p_541USBDMA1/PAC-USBDMA1.html

Will this cause any issues when connecting an aftermarket 4 ohm head unit to the factory amp (I believe to be a 2ohm amp) which then goes out to 8 2ohm speakers? The car is a 2010 Kia Soul ! I am worried about screwing up the stereo.

The head won't be affected but the sound will. I did it and I got very low volume. The sound quality will be really bad. I guess it'll depend of the brand of your system. That happened to my JBL system on my Tundra.

No, not the sedan. Check the literature. You can download a pdf on the item page at crutchfield. It says the coupe 2010 YES, but the sedan NO.

We carry this gear as well as a couple other parts that can be used with the right radio to keep other existing abilities working in your Kia but the one thing we don't have is a mounting kit that will give us the space in the dash to fit this radio body and the wiring parts/plugs. If you would like to get the list of all the vehicle specific parts, I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to get a personalized list for your specific Kia.

If you have a compatible factory trim package, the Crux may be a recommended integration harness for you vehicle, sure. You'll need to connect the leads of the Crux to the leads of the aftermarket stereo's harness (packaged with the stereo). No it doesn't work unfortunately. Also the Kenwood stereo I bought has a bad microphone. last the crutchfield interface only allows you to use half of your steering wheel functions.
