Revel's beryllium-tweeter in-ceiling speaker

This high-quality in-ceiling speaker from Revel is ideal for an audiophile-grade music system, or as rear or height speakers in a high-end home theater setup. You'll hear super-clear high-frequency detail for its 1” beryllium tweeter. Beryllium is known for being both ultra-light and very rigid — properties that allow the tweeter to deliver exquisitely smooth detail without distortion. Dual neodymium magnets control the tweeter's movement with precision, and an acoustic lens waveguide provides a cohesive sound stage throughout your room.

The 8" Deep Ceramic Composite” [add quotes] (DCC) woofer features an aluminum cone sandwiched between two layers of ceramic coating. This design provides excellent damping for tight bass response. You can also use the C128BeBB backbox (sold separately) to ensure optimum sound and help keep it from bleeding into adjacent rooms.

And Revel backs this speaker with a lifetime warranty.

Part of your Revel PerformaBe home theater system

The C128Be shares the same acoustic signature sound as Revel's popular PerformaBe line. That means you can get great results when you pair these speakers with bookshelf, floor-standing, and center channel models in your home theater setup.

Features

2-Way In-Ceiling Loudspeaker: The Revel C128Be is a 2-way in-ceiling loudspeaker featuring a 1" Beryllium tweeter with acoustic waveguide, plus an 8" deep ceramic composite (DCC) aluminum cone woofer with rubber surround for high-performance sound. is Its perfect for use in home theater, stereo, or distributed audio applications.

  • 1" Beryllium Tweeter with Acoustic Waveguide: The 1" Beryllium tweeter with acoustic waveguides and Patented Revel DNA delivers unparalleled high frequency detail and a well-balanced soundstage. The 1" Beryllium tweeter is driven by dual-neodymium magnets and mated to an acoustic lens waveguide that seamlessly integrates with the directivity of the companion 8" woofer driver resulting in greater efficiency, improved dynamic range, reduced distortion, and increased power handling compared to aluminum or titanium tweeters.
  • 8" Deep Ceramic Composite (DCC) Aluminum Cone Woofer: The 8" deep ceramic composite (DCC) aluminum cone woofer with rubber surround offer high output and high excursion for plenty of bass extension to your movie or music soundtracks. The 8" aluminum cone woofer utilizes a deep ceramic composite (DCC) cone for improved performance. DCC is a plasma electrolytic oxidation process that uses a plasma discharge to create a coarse ceramic coating on both sides of the aluminum core. The deep ceramic layers sandwiching the aluminum core provide constrained layer damping that push cone breakup modes outside of the passband allowing the driver to maintain ideal pistonic motion throughout its range. The DCC cone combines with optimized motor magnetics to deliver improved mid- and low-frequency performance.

High-Order Crossover Design: The high-order crossover design utilizes all film capacitors and air core inductors in the mid and high frequency circuits for seamless integration.. These premium components allow Revel's world-class engineers to extract nuances and details from music that would otherwise be lost.

Gold-Plated Spring Post Terminals: The C128Be in-ceiling loudspeaker is equipped with a set of gold-plated spring post terminals that will accept speaker cable terminated with banana plugs (single or dual) and bare wire (up to 10AWG). The spring post terminals are gold-plated for optimum signal transfer and excellent resistance to corrosion. Use high-quality speaker wire to obtain the best performance from the Revel in-ceiling speaker.

  • For wire lengths of less than 50', use at least 16AWG speaker wire.
  • For wire lengths of 50' to 100', use at least 14AWG speaker wire.
  • For wire lengths of greater than 100' use at least 12AWG speaker wire.

Zero-Bezel Magnetically Attached Grille: Powerful magnets in the speaker frame securely hold the grilles in place. The grille covers the entire outer frame of the speaker and is extremely low-profile (sits out only 0.25" from the ceiling). The included grilles can be painted to match your room's decor.

Applications: The C128Be in-ceiling speaker can be used in distributed audio, two-channel stereo, and home theater applications.

  • Distributed Audio: Since distributed sound is general sound throughout an area, place the loudspeakers as uniformly as possible for even sound coverage throughout the area. Place the left and right loudspeakers roughly the same distance from the primary listener locations. To avoid "hot spots" where the sound is too loud, plan to use more loudspeakers, with each set to play at a lower volume.
  • Two-Channel Stereo: Place the left and right loudspeakers the same distance from the primary listening area (or as close to the same distance as possible). The distance from each speaker to its nearest side wall should also be as close to the same distance as possible. Ideally, the distance between the left and right loudspeakers should be slightly less than their distance from the primary listening area.
  • Home Theater: The C128Be can be used as a front, surround, surround back, and/or top channel speaker in a home theater application. The front left and front right loudspeakers should be relatively close to the sides of the video display. In a 7.1.4ch system, the surround left and surround right loudspeakers should be located to the sides of the main listening area, while the surround back left and surround back right loudspeakers should be located behind the main listening area. The front left height and front right height loudspeakers should be located to the outside of,and in-front of the main listening area, while the rear left height and rear right height speakers should be located to the outside of and behind the main listening area.

Mounting Options: The C128Be is designed to mount in a 0.375" to 1.0" thick ceiling. Make sure the drywall, plywood or other ceiling material capable of withstanding the weight of the speaker. Use the included template to assist you with marking the cutout opening of 9.5" (diameter) for the speaker. Be sure there is at least 5.125" of mounting depth behind the wall, and allow at least 0.75" between the edge of the supplied installation template and any rafters or other obstructions behind the wall - so the speaker's locking mechanism will have room to engage fully. Multiple "cat-claw" clamps will secure the speaker in your ceiling.

  • Optional Acoustically Tuned Backbox: A custom-designed acoustically tuned wooden backbox (sold separately) delivers optimum performance and minimizes room-to-room sound transfer. The backbox measures 14.25" (w) x 14.25" (h) x 5.4375" (d).
  • Optional Preconstruction Bracket: The CB8 preconstruction bracket (sold separately) fixes the in-ceiling speaker's location prior to the wallboard being installed. The preconstruction bracket's mounting wings span 41.25" and will accommodate 16" to 36" on-center wood studs

Position-Independent, Double-Blind Listening Tests: Every Revel by Harman loudspeaker is compared head-to-head with competitors' models in a position-independent, double-blind listening facility. True research-quality processes assure the validity of the listening tests, which employ the latest psychoacoustic research.
