For 2025 Trax
Douglas from Circle Pines, MN on 4/8/2025
2025 Chevrolet Trax
2025 Chevy trax. These x165 speakers are 9x's better than the stock speakers. I can finally hear some bass and mids. I even get more volume compared to the stock speakers. These x165 provide me with a much better auditory experience. I am able to get a pleasant interior sound through the stock stereo now. Don't get too excited though. There is no boom boom or anything extreme coming from these speakers. Just a nice overall clear, crisp interior sound that was lacking prior to the install. I gave one star off because of the included mounts and wire harnesses. The mounts fit a little loose and needed some rubber in between the mount and the door frame to snug them up a bit. The wire harnesses needed to be widened at the connectors and then soldered to the speaker connection. The connectors were way too tight and I didn't want to damage the speaker connectors trying to cram the harness to the speaker connection. Otherwise, I'm very pleased.
Pros: Overall sound Included instructions
Cons: Wire harness connectors. Loose speaker mounts.

500hz-1khz Boosted Speakers
David from Baton Rouge, LA on 4/8/2025
I can't rate these bad because they sound exactly as the example sample audio clip provided. They are loud, clear, punchy, and have adequate bass with a basic aftermarket stereo. What is interesting is that most of the speakers I compared had a natural high mid scoop in the audio sample; these have a high mid boost. I didn't take into account the actual sample song EQ and was trying to pick the flattest sounding eq wise. That being said these are great as long as you have a 10+ band eq in your radio, because unless you like alot of 500 to 1k, ( hi mid vocal range ) you may not care for them. I don't know that I would recommend them if treble and bass controls is all you have on your radio. That being said, I have them eq'd and it sounds great with a Jensen Car813 and and 8" under seat sub.
Pros: Well made Clear, loud, punchy 4ohm Adequate bass for door speaker
Cons: None

Good sound, minor McGyvering needed
Sumant from San Diego, CA on 2/9/2025
2013 Ford Focus
Speaker quality: I am not an audiophile. In that context, it is a tangible upgrade from my stock door speakers (2013 Ford focus SE). Note that during speaker manufacture, a lot of solder bleeds onto the connector tabs, and the provided wiring harness will not simply press on - some hacking is required to make the wire connectors fit the speaker terminals (I jammed a screw driver into the terminals of the wiring harness and opened them up just enough for them to reluctantly attach to the speaker) Crutchfield kit: The provided Metra brackets do not work with the hardware that came with the speakers. The screws are too narrow for the holes in the Metra kit. Further, the speaker has a rim around the periphery that prevents use of standard sized thicker diameter screws. I had to fashion shims out of the breakaway tabs one has to remove anyway for this combination, and source my own hardware. The shims went between the speaker mounting face and the underside of the screw holding it in. Fiddly. Crutchfield instructions: I appreciate how difficult it is to have thorough instructions for every combination of speaker and vehicle. In my case, two instructions were missing: 1. there is a screw hidden under a reflector piece (for visibility ito others n the dark if the door is open) that was not documented 2. one has to drill through the speaker bracket to let the wires from the speaker to connect to the harness. (helpful hint: do not drill through you finger....)
Pros: Speaker: works, in my case upgrade from stock. Crutchfield: Crutchfield recommended i fully document my problems to assist others despite being somewhat critical. Upstanding i thought
Cons: mounting solution from crutchfield not plug and play.

Upgrade your OEM
Bradley from EDMONDS, WA on 1/17/2025
2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
These are an excellent choice to upgrade from your OEM speakers. My speakers were shot and I don't plan on upgrading the head unit soon, so at around 4 wpc, you need a very efficient speaker. These are exactly what you need. Before you install, do your due diligence and watch a few videos on installing sound deadener and insulation along with your speaker install. Not only will it make your speakers sound even better, but will also make your interior quieter and add a little heft to your doors which is very noticeable when you shut your doors. I also incorporated some Stinger Fast Rings, 36 sqft 80 mil sound deadener and 11 sqft 236 mil sound insulation into my install on my crew cab Chevrolet Silverado. It's extremely time consuming, but worth every minute.
Pros: Awesome price point, excellent quality, super efficient

Not much better than stock Toyota speakers, especially compared to the Infinity References in the front. Speaker sounds great! with my toyota Rav 4 2012 factory radio. Both front speaker failed this year (2024) at 12 years mark. I have never installed speaker but after watching you tube how tos I thought maybe I can do this. I am a woman and know how to use basic tools like philips drivers and screw guns. And have a lots of curiosity and do it your self spirit. But never have to work on the car...chat help Fox was helpfull deciding this pair of speaker to match my car. I would say sound quality is a notch up from factory speaker for sure and has a good base if you want to turn them up. Nice rounded clear sound. I like JBL speaker for my potable speaker and headphones FYI. Probably not as good as JBL but do the JOB. Phone tech person was helpfull with my speaker adapter modification. I did not know that you can snap off extraparts off adopter. There was no instruction on adopter and I wanted to know if I should run wire from speaker through the whole or behind the adopter. Over all I felt like I was in the good hand if I needed help. Installation took about 2 hours on one speaker. Manual with photo helped. Hardest part was getting the rivet off factory spaeker. I am happy to report that I was succeful! Thank you Crutchfield!

Exceptional sound for the price
Richard from Mooresville, NC on 2/17/2024
2023 Subaru WRX
I purchased these to replace the truly terrible sounding rear door speakers in my 2023 Subaru WRX Base. The biggest reason I chose these was for their excellent sensitivity rating. They also sounded very good compared to other options with Crutchfield's online comparison tool. I was NOT disappointed at all. These ended up pairing very well with the newly installed Rockford Fosgate 2-ways in the front doors. Bass response is also fairly good. They also fixed the issue I had where the stock rears, along with sounding terrible, were so quiet. I'm very happy that now for around $170 ,I was able to do a major upgrade on the entry level sound system in my car. Now I'm contemplating replacing the dash mounted tweeters because they tend to be quite harsh making it necessary to turn the system Treble level down.
Pros: Simply great sound quality for the price.

2007 Honda Civic
Order arrived quickly. I ordered a pair of Hertz x 165 speakers to replace the rear corner speakers of my 2007 Honda EX with Nav (7 speaker stereo...2 tweeters in the dash, 2 woofers in the doors, 2 woofers in the rear corners, and an 8" sub in the rear center). I selected these because they were listed as being a fit for my vehicle and they also had k165's available (separate tweeter and woofer component version for the front). Looked like good reviews. They ended up not being a great fit--had to use a reciprocating saw to cut metal from the trunk of the car (magnet was much larger than original), had to cut plastic on the plastic adapter brackets, and also needed to cut plastic from the plastic panel that covers the speakers...also drilled new holes in the brackets because the holes didn't line up) After the install, I found that the speakers downgraded the sound compared to the original factory speakers. The new Hertz speakers had way too much harsh treble with no midrange or bass...gives me a headache. I decided that I'm going to leave the front speakers alone since they sound better.
