About the PAC LPHTY01 LocPro Advanced T-Harness

Buck Pomerantz

Upgrade your Toyota's radio

Adding an aftermarket amplifier will beef up the sound of any audio system, even when you can't replace the factory radio. PAC's LPHTY01 LocPro Advanced T-harness makes amplifier installation a lot easier by giving you access to the speaker-level output signals from your Toyota-built factory radio. You can use this T-harness to connect to an amplifier or signal processor with speaker-level inputs, or to a line output converter with an amp.

Provides signal for your system

PAC designed this vehicle-specific T-harness to work with their LPA LocPro Advanced line output converters, but it'll also work with almost any sound processor or line output converter, as well as most amplifiers with high-level inputs. The harness also supplies the connection wires for low-power constant 12 volts (fused for your protection), accessory power, ground, and remote turn-on leads for a system device like an active signal processor.

Note: The power and ground wires in this harness will only support a low-current accessory, like an active line output converter or digital signal processor, and should not be used to power an amplifier.

How it works

First, you unplug the radio and install the T-harness. Two T-harness plugs go into the radio, the others snap into the plugs you just took out. You're then left with the radio still completely connected to your vehicle, with the addition of a pigtail of wires to use for adding an amp.

It comes wired for adding a sub

The T-harness pigtail includes four speaker-level channels, eight wires, that you can use for the sub amp's inputs. The amplifier will have to get its power and ground connections separately. The factory radio will still run all the speakers.

For powering a system, you'll need to do some rewiring

You can use all four of the T-harness's speaker-level channels for your aftermarket system's inputs. PAC has made provisions in this harness for sending your aftermarket amplifier's outputs back through the factory wiring and on to the speakers. The appropriate wire bundle has clearly marked labels showing you which wires to disconnect and where, and which wires you'll need to connect to your aftermarket amplifier's outputs.

Mounting option

PAC's LPHEXT17 Speaker Harness Extension adds 17 feet to the reach of this T-harness, giving you more options for where you can install a line output converter and amplifier in your vehicle.

Features

Overview: The LPHTY01 T-Harness is designed to simplify adding one of PAC's LOCPRO line output converters to your factory radio, but can also be used when adding select models of other line output converters, audio processors, and amplifiers with speaker level inputs. The harness keeps you from having to cut or modify your vehicle's original wiring, providing a direct connection at the back of the factory radio. (You will hardwire the harness to the LOC, audio processor, or amp you install.) Please enter your vehicle information to confirm compatibility.

Vehicle Compatibility: The LPHTY01 harness is compatible with factory radio systems without an outboard amplifier in select 1987 and newer Toyota, Scion, and Subaru vehicles.

Q
Hi I have a 2017 Subaru Legacy (non-HK) with starlink. If I use this harness to add an amplifier, where would I attach the AudioControl LGD? Would it splice into this harness or would I need to go right from the DCM. Thanks!

A
Starlink can be very tricky, Michael. If you have the 6.2" or 7" radio with the non-HK audio package you can use this harness to add amps, but this is not recommended for models with the Starlink module as the front speakers are routed through the Starlink system. You can still hardwire the fantastic Audiocontrol LC7i in the link below with the proper size LGD, keeping the front speakers powered off the radio and through the Starlink system. We also provide lifetime technical support with every order, a huge bonus when shopping with us. I hope this helps!

Q
I have a 2012 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab TRD Sport. I don't have the JBL sound system and I don't have the touch screen radio. Mine is just the plain factory installed knob and button, Bluetooth with steering wheel controls. Will this harness work for adding an amp for a sub and/or could I add an amp for swapping out my door speakers?
sparkyjr_je83  Nov 24, 2022

A
This could be used to add an amplifier for a sub and add an amplifier for swapping speakers in your vehicle. Technically it could even be used for both at once. For additional help on integration with this harness, feel free to reach out to our advisors via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
If installing in a 2014 Toyota Corolla, would I still be able to use the steering control inputs ?
marc340  Nov 07, 2022

A
Greetings Marc340, and thank you for your question. This interface is to keep the factory radio in the Corolla and more, but add amplifier, and or signal processors. If the factory radio stays in the vehicle, you keep your steering wheel control buttons.

Q
I have a 2017 Sequoia (non-JBL, with navigation). I want to keep the factory head unit. I am replacing the speakers and would like to add a sub as well. Can I use this harness with a 5 channel amp (speaker level inputs) to power all speakers and the sub?
mike  Aug 15, 2022
1 answer
A
This should work nicely. This harness will provide 4 channels of speaker-connections. Most 5-channel amplifiers allow for 4-channel speaker-level input. Nevertheless, we're happy to discuss this project in more detail. Please give our advisors a call at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
For my 2013 brz do I need to Pin swap?
noah w  Jul 09, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Noah, and thank you for your question. PAC mentions nothing about the need to do any pin swapping but the BRZ audio system is a bit different. It has an amplifier for the door woofers. That amplifier gets its signal from the leads off the radio to the tweeters and midranges. Its just a bit different than an average car. If you purchased the PAC LPHT01 LocPro from us, we offer technical support. That direct number will be on you shipping confirmation email. They would be the best to help you wire this up. If you purchased elsewhere, you can get help from the people at PAC as well. Their number is 727-592-5991.
