Great Sounding AVR for Video and Stereo Reproduction
William from Millstone Twp, NJ on 5/28/2025
The Marantz Cinema 60 was a replacement for my prior NAD T757 AVR, which was not network accessible. I have a 5.1 channel Monitor Audio speaker system and a 4K LG eARC enabled TV. An Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K MAX streaming YouTube TV is my primary source of video and music from predominantly my Synology NAS in FLAC format as well as Pandora and Spotify. My main objective was to improve the TV audio programming while still providing dynamic, quality stereo presentation for music. After creating a list of approximately 20 features desired, I used the comparison from Crutchfield to narrow the list of AVRs to less than 10. I also downloaded the user manuals for the top few contenders for any specifics needed. Finally, I spoke with a Crutchfield expert (in my case, Ivy, who was extremely helpful and patient!) and settled on the Marantz.
Pros: Great sound for both video programming and stereophonic music listening. Built-in music streaming and support for high quality DLNA source playback as well as Bluetooth and Airplay Wired network connection App control and administration as well as through browser with IP address specified.
Cons: Somewhat challenging to configure if leveraging all features of the AVR (e.g. streaming music from NAS or enabling voice command with Alexa devices) HEOS music app is not identified as an "Input" on the AVR, so cannot set defaults such as with other inputs (e.g. CD Player, TV)

Once the new receiver was set up with the rest of my sound system it operated flawlessly. I have my main setup as a standalone in my living room while the Zone 2 capability allows me to use the speakers connected to my Amp throughout the house. I now can use bluetooth to connect with my Galaxy earbuds and the headphone connection serves as an additional option.

Made in Japan. good quality. As expected, the Marantz Cinema 60 drives my already existing 5.1 system perfectly, cleanly, powerfully, and distortion free. The new remote controls the Cinema 60 and shifts inputs robustly, far better than my old unit's remote. In addition the new remote is well labeled, intuitive and easy to understand. and easy to understand.
Pros: Easy set up and great support from Crutchfield.
Cons: I would have liked a complete hard copy manual included with my Cinema 60.

Easy to Set-up!
John from Seattle, WA on 12/24/2024
My new Marantz Cinema 60 was easy to set-up, the instructions were simple and the UI interface was the best I have ever used. I just got it and can't say much yet about the sound quality, but I really like the look of it in the cabinet. I got very good advice from a Crutchfield "expert" when I was looking, and very prompt technical advice yesterday when I had one simple question about speaker connections. I am using it in a 5:1 set-up.

Sounding Wonderful!
Erik from Bloomington, IN on 11/4/2024
My 20+ year old Outlaw Audio preamp / surround processor finally kicked the bucket so it was time to research. Technology has come a long way in 20 years! I started looking for something similar (without any amplification because I already have a separate Rotel 5 channel amp), but eventually realized that there are more quality options with AVR's. My budget was under $2K and I was eventually down to Anthem, NAD and Marantz. After reading many many reviews, watching you tube videos, etc., etc., I ended up with the Cinema 60 which I totally love after a week. This thing sounds amazing right out of the box (before any Audyssey set up). I did want to keep using the Rotel so I set it up to power the center channel and the four remaining channels to bi-amp my front speakers. For now, I have the Marantz set to "pre-amp" mode so I am not using any amplification from it. I will eventually use two channels of the Marantz amplification for rear speakers once i get them wired up. And, that still leaves another 5 channels in the Marantz if I want to add additional surround speakers down the road. Being an audiophile, I am also quite happy with the soundstage for 2 channel listening (CD & viny). The final thing I will mention is that the setup process is the best I have seen. It walks through each step that even novices can understand (i.e. how to connect speaker wiring). Very pleased with the decision. Highly recommended.
Pros: Ease of set-up, build & sound quality, Crutchfield customer support
Cons: Nothing yet

Outstanding receiver
Fred from Alamogordo, NM on 11/3/2024
I've owned a number of different brand receivers, and the Marantz Cinema 60 far and away produces the best soundstage. Speakers are also important. I've paired the Marantz Cinema 60 with hi-end Bowers & Wilkins, center, tower speakers and subwoofer. The sound is superb. If I were a millionaire, I'd own McIntosh pre-amp and power amp separates, but until then I'll stay with Marantz.
Pros: Full spectrum of clean spatial volume
Cons: none

Nice with all the bells and whistles! However, in my opinion my entry level Yamaha AVR 385 paired with high efficiency (97db sensitivity Klipsch) sounds tonally better. I think this is a very nice receiver but, is overpriced and overrated.
Pros: Great build, nice features, sounds good
Cons: many other options available that cost alot less.

After having this unit for nearly a week, I'm more than happy with what I'm hearing. A much smoother soundstage than the Denon s670h I moved on from. Very easy to set up. Perfect power and amenities for my 5.1 set up. Build quality and unit design are above my expectations. Marantz knocked it out the park with this one. Pleased with Marantz Cinema 60
Patrick from Fuquay Varina, NC on 5/18/2024
Mitch at Crutchfield helped me order the Marantz Cinema 60 AVR (thanks Mitch). This is my first experience using an AVR. The Marantz AVR replaced a Sony TA-F500ES integrated amp. I chose the Marantz AVR due to overwhelmingly positive reviews, reasonable cost, and power (wanted an AVR with more power than my old Sony amp). I previously connected my FireTV / AppleTV devices to the HDMI and HDMI ARC ports on my LG TV, then connected the optical out from the LG TV to the Sony amp using a DAC and RCA cables. Everything worked well until the left channel in the Sony amp began to malfunction. I now have the FireTV / AppleTV devices connected to two HDMI ports on the Marantz AVR, and the Marantz AVR connected to the HDMI ARC port on the LG TV. I enabled HDMI CEC on the Marantz AVR and LG TV so that I only needed to use the AppleTV remote to turn everything ON (or subsequently OFF). But the LG TV would turn ON and then quickly turn OFF. I discovered the LG TV has a "Quick Start" feature that puts the TV into a standby mode versus shutting it off. I disabled Quick Start, and now everything turns ON using only the Apple TV remote. This is incredibly convenient. Specifically regarding the Marantz AVR, the setup was straightforward. I've enjoyed listening to music through the Apple Music app, watching AppleTV / Prime Video shows, and streaming Apple Music via Apple AirPlay. Sound from the Polk Audio ES60 tower speakers is excellent; bass is audible even at low volume.
Pros: Straightforward setup; excellent sound; HDMI CEC; future expansion
Cons: None

Love this new Marantz home theater receiver! It replaced a 17 year old Yamaha. Definitely sounds better. Been a longtime fan of Marantz. It's a nice looking unit. The sound is amazing! Lots of features. Highly recommend it.
Pros: Nice clean sound. Lots of features.
Cons: Finicky with my DirecTV box. Couldn't get it to work with any of the brand new HDMI cords. I tried 3 different brands. So I had to call Marantz support and they said to connect DirecTV box directly to TV. One thing to note is it says 7 channels with a zone 2. If you have Atmos heights speakers then their isn't a zone 2 cause when you setup the speakers the 2 additional speaker terminals are assigned as heights. That takes away the ability to connect to zone 2.

So far, I'm very pleased with the Marantz Cinema 60. It was very easy to set up and everything works as advertised. I was surprised how it detected polarities during speaker setup. I'm especially pleased with the ease of making manual adjustments. The manual (for download) is the best I've seen. I'm still learning about its many features - some I will probably never use.
Pros: Ease of use.
Cons: It doesn't wash dishes. In other words - none.

Marantz quality product
Keenan from Albuquerque, NM on 1/31/2024
My Denon AVR 3802 was 20 years old and getting tired. I have owned several Marantz products and have always been pleased. The Cinema 60 fit the requirements for channels and power and after two weeks it has been superb. The setup was easy but required some changes to adjust to my other equipment. The Audyssey setup worked well and has the home theater working well on all channels. The HEOS is something I use for Amazon music HD and the stereo sound with my B&W Nautilus 805 speakers has a spacious and musical soundstage. I am very pleased with the sound and the ease for making changes.
Pros: Ease of use Sound quality
Cons: Wish it came in silver

I liked it so much I bought two!
Scott from Henderson, NV on 1/21/2024
I purchased a Cinema 60 for a vacation home in Park City, Utah, along with some new Martin Logan Motion series speakers, and was super impressed by everything. So much so, in fact, that I bought another Cinema 60 for our primary residence. It replaced a less expensive (but still highly rated) entry-level Yamaha AVR. I was expecting to notice a difference -- but I was blown away. The difference in clarity was stunning, possibly because the Yamaha was rated for 8 ohms while the Marantz has no trouble with 4 ohms. I hadn't realized how profoundly mid- or higher-level speakers (older Martin Logan Motion series) would be affected by an under-performing receiver.
Pros: Easy setup Great automatic room correction with included microphone Nice remote
Cons: It took a little while to figure out how to select different Dolby modes

Well, I was overdue for nice stuff again after raising a family. I've had a couple other things over the years which started with a Marrantz Superscope 4 Channel Quad unit in 77', nothing over the years sounded as warm and clear! This is all I hoped for to create a sound I like before my ears get too old to really enjoy it. Spoke with " Rucker" a couple times on the phone and he was full of good info and really made feel at home. Spoke with "Rene" in the shipping area, and just the same was really good at suggestions for shipping. Crutchfield has been a " go to" over the years for info, caring, articulate and knowledgeable people ..kb

Cons: House is to small to contain this awesomeness !!

The Marantz Cinema is a WINNER
Russ from Louisville, KY on 1/12/2024
I replaced my 12 year old surround sound system in the home bar with the Marantz Cinema 60. Found a lot of nice surprises when I hooked my Marantz 60 up my LG TV! Sound, picture quality, noticeably improved. Purchasing the banana plugs and speaker wire from Crutchfield was also a WINNER! The banana plugs truly make speaker connections plug and play. The speaker wires in a single sleeve in red and black makes connection a breaze instead of trying to find a white stripe on a clear wire coating. I may have to repeat this sound system in my Family Room. From what I have found with Marants Cinema 60 is worth it doing again.
Pros:
Cons: I have only one complaint; I don't like using a magnifying glass to read instructions! It's not that I can't see, but a larger font in BLACK instead of gray would sure help readability.

Great sounding unit with great features.
Roger from Turner, OR on 7/17/2023
Purchased the Cinema 60 after returning a Denon AVR X2800H that I found a bit too cold sounding. The Marantz is an absolutely fantastic sounding AVR. It has a full, authoratative low end, with mids and highs that are crystal clear, with great resolution and just a bit of warmth and sweetness to them. A much more pleasant listen to me over the Denon. I also appreciate the network streaming capabilities of this unit along with the HEOS app. Super simple to open the app, choose Pandora and have it be streaming music in just a few seconds. Brilliant. The reason for the 4 star rating was that I'm really not a fan of the new Marantz industrial design on the Cinema series. The front panel is just a big, featureless piece of plastic and the porthole display is so small as to be useless. You literally have to be right up in front of this thing to make out the display. Now, if that center black area were brushed, anodized aluminum and the display was twice the size, it would be a lot more in line with the idea of luxury design that they are going for.
Pros: Tone! Great streaming unit
Cons: Disappointing industrial design Useless display

I replaced an NAD775 with the cinema60. I am very pleased with the Marantz. Set up was smooth. Everything worked like it should, and the sound is excellent. Dialog clarity is beyond my expectations. I would have given the 60 5 stars except for 1 thing. the hdmi arc control function is kinda flakey. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but all I have to do is turn everything off and back on again and it starts working. just a little aggravating. Other than that, compared to other receivers in its price range, I highly recommend the cinema 60 over the others.
Pros: setup, sound, dialog clarity, inputs and outputs, versatility
Cons: hdmi arc function response

Best sound for the money
Chris from Melbourne, FL on 4/26/2023
I was struggling with selecting an upgrade to my 24 year old Pioneer AVR that is still running strong. My home audio setup is pretty modest because of an open floor plan. I didn't need a bunch of channels but did want more modern connectivity, wireless, streaming, and improved sound quality. After searching reviews, debating going with separates for 2-channel listening, and getting overwhelmed with options, I decided to reach out to Crutchfield for product recommendations. Dave in customer support provided excellent assistance! After asking about my setup, wish list and budget, he came back with the Marantz Cinema 60. He stated these are the best sounding receivers for the money. After using it for a couple weeks, I can confidently agree it was the right choice. Connections are well laid out, and setup is very easy through on screen menus. It took me longer to remove my old receiver and run the cabling than it did to set up the Marantz - including Audyssey. The Class A/B amplification makes a noticeable difference in sound - it's very clean and dead quiet. I use this in the main living space for AppleTV, Blu-ray, CD, and vinyl. It handles all inputs very well. I particularly like the ability to change sound modes, use Audyssey EQ, or go manual/direct. I find the Marantz app to be pretty convenient and useful. In fact, the remote sits on a shelf most of the time. If you're in the market for a receiver, definitely give the Cinema 60 a hard look!
Pros: Class A/B amplification Excellent sound quality across sources Great for 2-channel listening Easy to set up and use Practical design and connection layout
Cons: App could use some refinement but is useful

Marantz Cinema 60
Brently from Shawnee, OK on 4/16/2023
Let me begin by saying I returned this receiver but it is not entirely the fault of Marantz. This is a well built, thoughtfully packaged, easy to operate AVR. I did find the setup a bit confusing for my height atoms speakers. I was able to muddle through and was easy going after that 20 minute delay. The sound placement was probably the best of the 3 receivers I have tried (RZ 50 & A4A). The only reason I returned this one is the lack of power. I just wasn't getting that punch I wanted out of my 5.1.2 Klipsch system. I like this thing, I just don't love it enough for $1700. I'll have to save up for a more powerful AVR.
Pros: Easy use. Cinema sound placement
Cons: Lacking power, have to pay for the app after spending $1700 for the AVR.

This unit is exactly what I love about Marantz. Simple but elegant user interface/design if you have been around AVRs then the standard lingo is there. The Audyssey set is easy to use. Just an all around quality unit. The new design looks amazing and my family really like the finish compared to others on the market. This the first Marantz I have owned switched from Denon AVR-X4300H and I have to say even though they are under the same parent company the are totally different beasts with some common exceptions. Sound profile is much better compared to my old Denon. Me and mine watch movies every Friday and we noticed a the sound difference. I wouldn't hesitate to buy especially from Crutchfield.

AVR Heaven
John from Holliston, MA on 12/7/2022
I retired my not so old Yamaha Aventage A780 and got the Cinema 60. I am in AVR heaven. First of all, the setup was very easy. I was quite happy with the Audyssey speaker setup, and from my perspective did a more accurate job than the previous YPAO setup. Dolby ATMOS sounds great and no complaints from the neighbors so far. The user interface is better than any AVR I've ever had. I have no complaints regarding the small display because the Info button delivers very elaborate & detailed info on sound and picture settings. I used the info screens to easily debug settings for my Fire TV box in less than a minute. The Option button is very handy as well should you need to quickly make dialog quality changes or maybe pump up the surround speakers for a particular movie. Overall, the Cinema 60 is a cut above.
Pros: Awesome sound quality Ease of use
