If you want a spectacular picture and don't quite have room for a 50" plasma, consider the LVM-47w1. With full 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution, plus the ability to accept 1080p signals, this 47" LCD is more "HDTV-ready" than nearly any other flat-panel display you can buy. The 1080p design of the Westinghouse LVM-47w1 allows it to show every detail of a 1080i HDTV broadcast without reducing picture clarity. And 1080p-compatible inputs put you in the driver's seat for the new high-definition disc formats: HD DVD and Blu-ray.
This display is a monitor only — there is no built-in tuner of any type. For standard (analog) broadcasts, one easy solution is to make use of the TV tuner built into your VCR. To receive high-definition signals, connect a separate HDTV tuner. The set's "jack pack" includes composite, S-video, and HD-compatible component video inputs. You also get one HDMI and two DVI digital video inputs for use with compatible HD tuners and DVRs, as well as "upconverting" DVD players. Even the PC input can accept signals up to 1080p.
A powerful built-in "scaler" converts all incoming video signals to match the LCD panel's 1080p native resolution. Sound quality is good, too, thanks to a built-in 3-speaker system. Whether you're enjoying a DVD movie or studying a computer spreadsheet, the LVM-47w1 displays everything with startling clarity and detail.

Flat Screen/Viewing Angles: The flat screen delivers images that are virtually distortion free and helps eliminate screen glare. Its extra-wide viewing angles (176? horizontal and vertical) allow you to see a clear picture from most anywhere in the room.
3-D Digital Comb Filter: The 3-D Digital Comb Filter gives you superb picture detail and resolution.
Lamp Life: The expected life of the backlight lamp is 60,000 hours. This equates to more than 20 years of viewing 8 hours a day.
Picture-In-Picture: This feature allows you to choose one of the following display modes: PIP, PBP, or POP. In PIP mode, a smaller picture is displayed over the main picture. The size of the smaller picture can be adjusted to Small, Medium, or Large. The smaller picture can also be moved to any position over the main picture. In PBP mode, two pictures of equal size are displayed side-by-side. In POP mode, a large picture is displayed beside a small picture with no overlap. The small picture is displayed to the right of the large picture. A black bar covers the area above the small picture.
VESA Mounting Bracket Standard: The display can be wall mounted using an optional wall-mount bracket. The display has two sets of mounting holes on its back panel. One set of mounting holes is VESA 75-compatible (75mm x 75mm) and the other set is VESA 100-compatible (100mm x 100mm), in accordance with the industry standards set by the Video Electronics Standards Association. All mounting holes require M4 (4mm) machine screws. The monitor weighs 69.9 pounds without the stand and 78.9 pounds with the stand.
HDMI Input: The LVM-47w1 is equipped with an HDMI input for connecting an external video device such as an HD Digital cable/satellite receiver, HD set-top box, Media Center PC, or DVD player. The HDMI cable carries digital video and digital audio signals in one cable. The HDMI input also has corresponding stereo RCA audio jacks.
DVI Input: The display has two 20-pin DVI input jacks for connecting a compatible computer, DVD player, or DTV set-top box with a DVI output. Each DVI input has corresponding stereo RCA jacks for the audio signal. The DVI inputs are HDCP compatible.
Component Video Inputs: The two sets of component video inputs will accept 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i signals.
S-Video/Composite Input: The A/V input features S-Video and composite video jacks, plus a pair of stereo RCA audio jacks. You can use either the S-Video or the composite video input, but not both.
VGA Input: The VGA input consists of an RGB (D-sub 15-pin) jack and an audio mini-jack.
