Features

Bi-Amplifier Configuration: The Klipsch Nines employ individual ultra-low noise amplifiers that are custom designed to maximize speaker performance and eliminate the need for external amplification. The built-in, custom-engineered bi-amplifier configuration delivers maximum output and high-quality, room-filling sound. 100 watts is delivered to each woofer, while 20 watts is delivered to each tweeter for 240 watts of total power.

  • The included 13' proprietary speaker cable connects the Klipsch Nines' powered speaker "Primary" and passive "Secondary" speaker together for power and audio signal. A 6.5' proprietary extension cable allows you to extend the distance between the speaker up to 19.5'.
  • The powered "Primary" speaker can be configured as the Left or Right speaker.

Two-Way Driver Design: The Klipsch Nines utilize a two-way driver design with a 1" titanium tweeter mated to Tractrix Horn and a 8" long-throw polypropylene woofer with a rubber surround. The Tractrix horn-loaded 1" titanium dome tweeter provides a natural, lifelike sound, while the square Tractrix horn offers up a 90° x 90° dispersion pattern for a broader sound-stage. The 8" long-throw fiber-composite woofer delivers accurate midbass and powerful bass performance.

  • Titanium LTS Vented Tweeter: The titanium tweeter diaphragm's light weight yet rigid composition exceeds the performance of aluminum, polymer or silk tweeters. A vented tweeter design reduces standing waves behind the tweeter diaphragm for a smoother high frequency reproduction. Klipsch award-winning Linear Travel Suspension (LTS) technology leverages a piston motion of the titanium diaphragm that lowers distortion and delivers real-to-life sound.
  • Tractrix Horn Technology: The square Tractrix Horn delivers a 90° (w) x 90° (h) dispersion pattern for a broader sound-stage. Klipsch exclusive Tractrix horn technology ensures that the speaker's high frequency energy is aimed at the listener and reduces artificial reverb or filtering caused by indirect sound bouncing off of walls. Using this proprietary focused technology provides clarity, dynamics, and detail for your movies and music
  • High-Excursion Fiber Composite Woofer: The 8" long-throw fiber-composite cone woofer delivers accurate midbass and deep bass frequencies, and is paired with a rear-firing Tractrix port for a smooth bass response.

Bass Reflex Cabinet w/ Tractrix Port: The 2-way driver system is housed in a MDF cabinet with a real wood finish, and comes with acoustically transparent grilles that attach magnetically. Each speaker utilizes a rear-firing Tractrix port that is perfectly matched to the cabinet and woofer to create ideal airflow with minimal distortion and turbulence even at the lowest frequencies. Klipsch Tractrix ports have custom designed inner flares that help reduce air turbulence entering the port; less turbulent air helps reduce port noise for more cleaner powerful bass.

24-Bit/192kHz DAC: The Klipsch Nines incorporates a 24-bit/192kHz DAC (digital-to-analog converter) for playback of Hi-Res PCM audio files via USB-B, HDMI ARC, and Optical digital. The USB-B input and HDMI ARC support up to 24-bit/192kHz PCM stereo audio, while the Optical digital input is limited to 24-bit/96kHz PCM stereo audio.

  • USB-B Input: The Klipsch Nines speaker system features USB (type-B) input on the back of the "Primary" speaker for connecting your Windows PC or Mac computer/laptop. Through the Nines' USB connection, you are able to play music files (up to 24-bit/192kHz) stored on your Windows PC or Mac computer/laptop through the powered speaker system. Basic playback control (Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track) can be done from the included remote control. Advanced music browsing and song/artist info are still handled from your computer. You will need to install a dedicated USB driver from the Klipsch website onto your Windows PC before connecting your computer (Mac computers will not need this dedicated driver).
  • HDMI ARC: The Klipsch Nines features a HDMI ARC jack to connect the speaker system to the HDMI ARC jack on your TV. The HDMI ARC jack supports 2ch PCM only (up to 24-bit/192kHz); not compatible with Dolby Digital, DTS, or other multichannel audio formats.
  • Optical Digital Input: The Klipsch Nines is outfitted with an optical (toslink) digital input on the back of the "Primary" speaker for connection to a digital audio device like your TV, Blu-ray, or CD player. The speaker system's optical digital input will accept 2ch stereo PCM only (up to 24-bit/96kHz); not compatible with Dolby Digital, DTS, or other multichannel audio formats.

Note: There is also a rear-panel USB-A port which is used for service, software, and firmware updates only.

Bluetooth Audio Streaming: The Klipsch Nines feature built-in Bluetooth 5.0 with support for wireless audio streaming (A2DP) and control (AVRCP). You'll be able to wirelessly stream stored music, music apps, and other audio content from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer to the speaker system. You'll also be able to operate basic control (such as Play/Pause and Volume Up/Down) from the included IR remote. Advanced playback control and song/artist/album information will still be done from your Bluetooth source device. Multiple Bluetooth source devices can be paired with the Klipsch Nines, but only one device can be connected for playback at a time. The speaker system has a wireless Bluetooth range of approximately 33'.

Analog Audio Inputs: The Nines features two analog audio inputs; a 3.5mm Aux input and a stereo RCA input that can serve as a line-level or Phono MM input.

  • Aux Input: The Klipsch Nines also features a 3.5mm analog input, so you can connect practically any audio source via either a 3.5mm-to-3.5mm audio cable or an RCA-to-3.5mm audio cable (sold separately). Connect your portable music player, TV, or any audio source with an analog audio output or headphone jack. The Aux input is located on the back of the "Primary" speaker.
  • Line or Phono MM Input: In addition, the Klipsch Nines is equipped with a stereo RCA input that can used as a Line or Phono MM (moving magnet) input. There is a switch on the back-panel that lets you select between  line-level or the built-in Phono MM preamp. Connect your CD player, Blu-ray player, Turntable, and other audio sources with an analog audio output. The Line/Phono input and switch are located on the back of the "Primary" speaker.

Subwoofer Output: The Nines also include a subwoofer output so you can easily add a powered sub to the system. The subwoofer output consists of a mono-RCA jack and is located on the back of the "Primary" speaker. The subwoofer output does not feature a low-pass filter, so your powered subwoofer should have its own dedicate low pass crossover filter.

Top-Panel & Remote Control: The Klipsch Nines features metal control knobs on the top of the "Primary" speaker cabinet that control Source selection and Volume up/down.. It also comes with an IR remote control for wireless operation of the speaker system. The remote provides the following control functions - Power on/off, Source selection, Volume up/down, Play/Pause, Sub level, and Mute. The IR receiver is located on front of the "Primary" speaker.

Klipsch Connect App: The Klipsch Connect app (for Apple iOS 12.4+ & Android OS 7.0+) lets you control certain functions of the Nines speaker system from your compatible smartphone or tablet. Your compatible Apple iOS or Android OS device will need to be connected wirelessly to the Klipsch Nines via Bluetooth. The Klipsch Connect app lets you manage source selection, the volume level, speaker location, EQ, as well as other audio settings.

  • Speaker Location: The app allows you to tailer the system's bass response according the speaker location. You can can choose Corner (-6dB reduction in low bass to compensate for corner placement), Wall (-3dB reduction in low bass to compensate for mid-wall placement), or Other (no bass reduction for when the speaker is not located near hard surfaces).
  • Equalizer: You can choose between the following EQ presets - Flat, Vocal, Bass, Rock, or Custom. The Custom mode allows you to manually adjust Bass, Midrange, and Treble settings.
  • Dynamic Bass: Dynamic Bass EQ applies loudness correction to automatically adjust low frequency levels as volume changes.
  • Night Mode: Night Mode reduces the dynamic range of the speaker system for quieter playback when you need it.

Mounting & Placement Options: The Klipsch Nines can be positioned on speaker stands (sold separately), bookshelf, tabletop, desktop, or other flat mounting surface. Integrated cork pads underneath each speaker cabinet help to secure the speakers in place and isolate the speakers from the mounting surface. The "Primary" speaker must be in close proximity to an AC power outlet. The "Secondary" speaker can be up to 19.5' away from the "Primary" speaker (using the included 13' proprietary speaker cable and 6.5' proprietary extension cable). The "Primary" speaker can be configured as the Left or Right speaker.

Note: The Klipsch Nines does not offer a bracket, keyhole slot, or threaded insert to wall-mount the speaker system.

Detachable AC Power cord: The included 6.5 detachable AC power cord plugs into the back of the "Primary" speaker and then into an AC wall outlet, surge protector, or power conditioner.

Note: The Klipsch Nines speaker system is not battery powered and will require and AC power outlet.

Q
Can I place these in a separate room, connect, and control these completely wirelessly from the NAD C3050 integrated amp?
ken  Apr 11, 2024
1 answer
A
Hey Ken, so these can be connected wirelessly using the NADs Bluetooth transmitter so as long as they are still within a radius of one another that Bluetooth still work, that will be fine. The only problem with that is if you have the NAD in transmitter mode, you cannot use the Bluetooth receiver on the NAD. There is no audio output from the C3050's speaker, preamp, or headphone outputs when the unit is wirelessly streaming to a set of Bluetooth components.

Can you play music through the Nines from an iPad via Bluetooth?

Thank you for your question, Zack. Yes, you can stream via Bluetooth from your iPad.

Q
How are these for movies compared to traditional 5.1?
meant  Oct 25, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Mike. Thank you for your question. 5.1 is mainly for surround sound, and it can also play music. These are mainly for music, and they do more than an amazing job at it. Then as a second job it can play your movie, but it will be in stereo. Some that love surround may not care for these, but the ones that love music will.

Q
When you connect a subwoofer, is there a high pass filter applied on the speakers? For example, 80hz and up?
super  Aug 04, 2023
1 answer
A
Thank you for your question, Super Audiophile. With the Klipsch The Nines, the subwoofer output does not feature a low-pass filter, so your powered subwoofer should have its own dedicate low pass crossover filter.

Q
I must be missing something... I have an old school setup with new audio equipment. It appears I can't connect these speakers to my Marantz receiver and therefore play my cd player, turntable and also radio or streaming apps from my receiver through these? It appears I can only connect one set of rca cables?
rob  Oct 25, 2024
1 answer
A
Hey Robert, you are correct, so these powered speakers are designed to have the receiver built into the speaker itself. This is a great solution for someone who wants to connect a single analog piece of equipment like a turntable or CD player and a digital input like a CD player again while also giving you a sub out and an HDMI connection for TV. Since you already have a stack of equipment that you want to keep, we have advisors who can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 that can help recommend the best speakers for your goals.

assume these are more of a 2.1 banger system... not so much for movies/tv/gaming?

A
What are the best looking/functioning stands for these speakers? minimalistic...?
peter  Mar 18, 2023
A
Greetings Peter, and thank you for your question. These have just about everything built in including an amplifier. They do not need a receiver. They are stand alone amplified stereo speakers. HiFi 2.0, but can have a powered subwoofer added to make it a 2.1 system. Can they be connected to a TV, or PC for movies and gaming? Absolutely, just not part of a full surround set up.
