I bought these speakers to replace an older pair, and the sound is amazing. I am driving these with an older Yamaha receiver, and am very impressed with the sensitivity, bass response, and highs.

It seems I got the last of these, as it says no longer available. They are very good speakers though. This is more of a review of Crutchfield as a company. It was great to find out that they actually have customer service. So many times these days you can't contact a real person. The grill on the speakers was damaged in shipping, I called and talked to a real person, and they sent out replacements free of charge in two days. It reminded me of the past when companies cared about their customers. I recommend this company to anyone needing sound equipment, or anything else they sell. Best experience buying online I ever had.

Pros: Great speakers. Great service.

Cons: These speakers are no longer available. I'm sure there is something else of equal value though.

Nice Bookshelf Speakers

This is a nice compact bookshelf speaker set. Very crisp highs. Lows are OK given smallish base speakers. I'm using them with a subwoofer, so I'm getting really good sound. These are better than average for the price.

Pros: Good price and decent sound. Great to pair with Subwoofer.

Cons: Deep base is lacking.

Great Replacement Speaker

Virge from Rochester, MN on 1/3/2024

I had a pair of 25 plus year old Boston Accoustics A60's in my little man cave, that finally "fell apart". I was looking for a pair of speakers that had a 5 inch or greater woofer and could be mounted on my wall. The Cambridge SX 60 checked the boxes and the sale price sealed the deal! I have been listening to them for over a week, and I am loving the sound. I mostly listen to vinyl records, jazz, blues and country. In my 9 x 9 room the bass is fine and I don't think I need a sub.

This replaced my 20 year old Bose Acoustimas speakers. The difference is day and night. Amazing sound combined with Yamaha R-N303. I stream using Spotify and FLAC using my local media server. High frequency is little muted compared to the Polk towers I have in my home theater. Bass is well balanced and sounds really good.

Pros: Sound and Build Quality

Cons: Color options

Surprised how good these are. Have them paired to a Cambridge AXA25 and certainly meaty enough. Soundstage is great within the speakers width (approximately 6 feet). Have not used for TV, but work really well for streaming (through Wiim mini/Schiit modi 3), CDs (Panasonic 5 disc DVD player), and vinyl. Would purchase again.

Pros: Good performance for the price. Efficient.

Cons: Could potentially be too detailed. I think they would work better with an AXA35.

Great sounding Bookshelf speaker.

Very high value at this price -- clean clear sound on vocals, acoustic guitar and piano. Like any bookshelf it needs a sub woofer to bring in the low end. I tried them with a Jamos 12" (which I bought for a separate system) and they sounded superb in my main listening room. These were intended for the garage system and are paired now with an old Boston Acoustics sub I had laying around. Awesome upgrade for the garage! Highs are clear without being too bright and mids are also clean with good punch. If you dont ask for too much bottom end from them (same as any bookshelf speaker), these are very satisfying and offer extreme value at the price. They compare very favorably to my Dynaudio bookshelf speakers at a fraction of the price.

It is a decent speaker for a modest price Bookshelf. Bass is a little Muddy, and The Hi,s seem a little brash. I am driving them with a Yamaha 700 integrated Amp.

Pros: Great Mids, good price .

Cons: Muddy bass on all types up music. His seem to me a little brash and hard on the ears. I listen to Jazz a lot.

Prior to getting this pair, I only had a basic Monoprice home theater speaker system, powered by my Yamaha RX-V381 AV--they did okay for watching movies, but was lackluster when it comes to music; I did however have a pair of audiophile headphones (Sennheiser HD660S) which I plug into a Topping DAC and amp hardware to make up for my music-listening. After moving to my new place, I got an itch to upgrade my sound system to something a little more serious but not too extravagant so I decided to buy these, only after having read and watched online reviews; so I was a bit nervous about the purchase. Man, I was so blown away by the drastic difference sound quality when I plugged in these bad boys to the same Yamaha amp, even prior to having completely run them in! They're so good, now I have little to no desire to listen through my headphones anymore! To complete my 5.1 setup, I also bought the SX-70 center, a pair of SX-50 for surrounds, and the SVS 3000 Micro. Really happy with my purchase!

good speakers - but

Good speakers by themselves. Excellent sound by themselves. However, if paired with two other speakers (4 speaker total) A & B speaker outlet from receiver, the Cambridge speakers volume is low compared to the other speakers. Could be the non-cambridge speakers are more efficient . But end result is when using both the A & B speaker output the cambridge speakers can barely be heard .

Not bad for a small speaker

Crutchfield customer from Barrington, RI on 9/3/2021

Bought these for a Cambridge AXR100 in my home office / bedroom. They sounded pretty good. FYI Much better than ELAC Debut 2.0 B5.2 which I also bought to compare. I did not have a sub woofer. Needed to add a few Db of bass to balance the treble. I did return them because I wanted a fuller sound closer to my living room stereo. I ended up buying a set of Klipsch RB 61 II which I have on my Living room system. I did buy a Cambridge Audio Minx X201 sub woofer which is very nice unit and I think would pair nicely the SX-60's if you go with them.

Pros: Reasonable good sound from a small package. The sound is a tad thin if you are used to quality larger speakers.

Cons: They need added bass due to size.

Nice sound. Very well balanced. Good range from decent lows to smooth clear highs. I'm happy to have found a speaker that is not overly bright but still plays the highs clearly! This can be a real challenge. For example - I like to be able to fully hear the cymbals and high hats without getting a rifle bayonet through the ear drum every time the guitar or singer hits a high note. That was the problem with my Klipsch speakers with the super blitzkrieg attack horn tweeter. I'm pretty sure Klipsch tweeters could be used as a devastating weapon of war. On the other end of the spectrum you have the speakers that sound muffled like Bose and Cerwin Vega which are not bright or clear enough for my liking. These Cambridge speakers are nice, clear, and defined without murdering the ear drums. The silk tweeter is smooth. I'm running them on my garage system using mostly Amazon HD music, or a CD transport with the signals sent through a Schiit modi 3 + DAC, and then into my vintage Pioneer SA 1040 integrated amp. I first tested them on three nicely detailed songs to see if they could bring out the incredible depth in this music. Pink Floyd - High hopes, Led Zeppelin - No Quarter, and UFO - Love To Love. Wow just beautiful! Thanks Cambridge Audio. And thanks again Crutchfield.

Love these speakers. Right out of the box they sounded great. Good highs, not too bright, mids and bass just right, don't need subwoofer. (I listen to all kinds of music, don't do movies, don't want pounding bass). And a very reasonable price. Very happy with these.
