Features

Belt-Drive Turntable: The Music Hall MMF 7.3 is a two speed belt driven audiophile turntable that delivers superior audio performance. The Music Hall MMF 7.3 turntable employs a low noise fully manual belt drive design that supports two speeds (33/45 RPM). A 45 RPM adapter is included. Its asynchronous motor is isolated from the plinth to reduce vibration transmission.

Dual Plinth  Construction w/ Damping Feet: The Music Hall MMF 7.3 turntable employs a unique dual plinth construction with three adjutsable vibration dampening feet. The top platform is medium density fiberboard (MDF) with a high-gloss black lacquer or walnut wood-veneer finish. The two platforms of the plinth are separated by four Sorbothane hemispheres, which act as a suspension and isolation system.

Acrylic Platter with Stainless Steel/Teflon Bearing Assembly: The Music Hall MMF 7.3 turntable features a dynamically balanced acrylic platter and comes with a felt mat. The platter and felt mat sit on a high quality, stainless steel ball bearing sheathed in Teflon providing fluid and noise-free operation. The bearing assembly comes pre-charged with lubricant. A screw-on record clamp is also included.

1-Piece Carbon-Fiber Tone-Arm: The Music Hall MMF 7.3 turntable features a one-piece carbon-fiber tone-arm for superb tracking ability. The effective length of the tonearm is nine and a half inches. This allows for a very shallow tracking arc on the record thus reducing distortion.

MM Phono Cartridge: The Ortofon 2M-Bronze moving magnet (MM) phono cartridge is pre-mounted and properly aligned. The turntable's nude elliptical diamond stylus is user replaceable.

Gold-Plated RCA Outputs: The Music Hall MMF 7.3 turntable is fitted with high quality gold-plated RCA connectors and comes with a detachable 4' stereo RCA cable. If your amplifier does not have a suitable Phono MM input, a separate phono pre-amplifier (sold separately) is required to connect the turntable to your amplifier.

Dust Cover: The Music Hall MMF 7.3 comes supplied with a dust cover to prevent dust build-up on the turntable.

AC Power Adapter: The turntable operates off of standard household current using the supplied external AC power adapter.

Q
I just received my Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable and I have a question regarding how to turn it off? Pushing the button on the motor only adjust the speed and shuts the motor down but the green on light stays lit?

A
Yes, the Green light remains lit. It indicates that power is available, and the motor is not running.
david  Dec 08, 2018
A
Press the button and hold it down for about 2-3 seconds. The blue light will extinguish, leaving the only a green light. The motor will stop. Enjoy!
david  Dec 08, 2018
A
The green light will stay on steady green to show that unit is powered and ready to be used. Nothing to worry about. That is the way it was designed.
michael  Dec 07, 2018
A
Hold the button down for a few seconds to stop the motor. The light will stay on. One quick push changes the speed. I hope that helps.
kevin  Dec 07, 2018
A
This is normal. As long as it's plugged in it will stay on. It's on standby. Tom.
thomas  Dec 07, 2018
A
Hold the button down. The motor will shut. If you just momentarily press, it will just change speeds
richard  Dec 07, 2018
A
You have to hold the button down for a couple seconds turn it off.
javan  Dec 07, 2018
A
Yes, green light stays lit- it turns solid blue when it is at selected speed (flashes blue while coming up to speed) A quick push of the button starts the motor then switches speed when running. A long steady push stops the motor.

Q
Are there stats on how many "hours" the belt lasts before beginning to degrade and needing to be replaced? And can the belt be purchased as a replacement part and is it easy to install (as opposed to needing to have the turntable serviced)?

A
Replacement belts can be purchased, but you might have to search for a dealer that carries them. I would think environmental factors (temperature range and cycles, humidity, UV exposure, etc.) play a role in degradation. The belt is very easily removed and replaced, simply put it around the motor's pulley then wrap around the platter (the platter does not have a groove for the belt to sit in). If you're not going to use the unit for a while, I'd suggest removing the belt so it's not left in the same position for an extended period of time. Ideally you would have a means of measuring the turntable's speed accuracy yourself , so you could check its performance when you first get the turntable new, then periodically check again as the belt ages. I would expect at least 3 to 5 years under very good conditions, but of course trust your ears. (But when it comes time to replace the belt, you should have saved enough to purchase a direct drive turntable instead.)
timothy  Apr 12, 2022
A
The owner's manual indicates 2-3 years for the belt life. I don't know how they estimate that. I have about 400-500 hours on mine, and it still plays well. The belts are available through various dealers. Installation is very easy, just follow the directions in the owner's manual. Enjoy!
david  Dec 08, 2018
A
I don't know about how many hours the belt will last or if it can be purchased. I did not research any of that. But, when I installed the turntable, I did not have any problems installing the belt (or any other aspect of it). Usually, I prefer to have something like that done for me, but it turned out to be no problem at all.
glenn  Mar 27, 2017
A
Stats: I'm not aware of any, but I'm sure it would be quite a long time. The belt can be purchased as a replacement part, and it is very easy to install. A look at the picture gives you an idea of the simplicity.

Q
What's the best record player out there that where the toner arm returns after record is done playing? Thanks
ian  Nov 19, 2016

A
There's no such thing as "best" without defining the constraints (price, performance, features, etc.). The feature you describe is what defines a semi-automatic turntable. A fully automatic turntable would add to that the feature of initiating playback at the push of a button (with turntable stopped and tonearm on the arm rest, the tonearm would be lifted and moved to the start of the record then lowered placing the stylus in the groove and while this happens the motor brings the platter up to full speed -- note that this could be dangerous to your stylus if the turntable does not have a sensor to detect if there is a record on the platter). A manual turntable does neither of these; you must lift the tonearm at the start and end of the record. The highest performing turntables are generally the manual type to keep them simple. Sorry, I don't have any specific recommendations for semi-automatic turntables as I have not been in the market for one. I can only suggest you do your own research using your favorite search engine to find product information and reviews of semi-automatic turntables.
timothy  Nov 20, 2016
A
Ian, most, if not all, higher-end turntables are manual, meaning they do not automatically do anything (including return).
gary  Nov 19, 2016
Q
Does the arm return to rest after the album has played?
cjw  Sep 18, 2016

A
You can buy a mini tonearm lift from a third party (search on YouTube) that will automatically lift the tonearm when it reaches the end of play. This will at least alleviate the worry of the stylus continually running in the dead wax at the end of the LP. It's still a manual operation to return the tonearm to its post, but the tonearm lift protects your expensive stylus.
martin  Apr 04, 2017
A
CJ, no it does not. This is a manual turntable, as are most audiophile-quality turntables.
gary  Sep 20, 2016
A
No, it is not a semi-automatic turntable, but fully manual.
timothy  Sep 19, 2016
A
No
ralph h  Sep 19, 2016
A
No, it does not. The tonearm is completely manual. The stylus will ride in the locked groove of the record until you intervene. There are several aftermarket tonearm lifting devices available that will fit the mmf-7.3. These devices will raise the tonearm off of the vinyl at the end of the record, but they will not return the tonearm to its rest nor will they turn off the turntable.
