About the Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7b

Some of the best-respected headphones available
Some of the best-respected headphones available
I like it when I don't have to add the qualifying phrase, "at this price." These Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 are some of the most highly respected headphones on the market, period. The fact that they come in at a relatively affordable price is just gravy.
They offer incredibly detailed, well-balanced sound that works for almost any genre of music. There's not a ton of bass, but it is very tightly controlled. In fact, there's not one sound characteristic that jumps out at me — it's just an overall pleasant listening experience.
Several ways to connect
This version of the Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7b headphones includes two cables, one with 4.4mm balanced headphone plug. Sony developed this new industry standard connection for balanced headphone operation, and I've seen more and more companies adopt it.
This connection promises to cut down on signal noise and distortion. The compact, yet powerful iFi ZEN DAC feature this connection, and would make a great combo with these headphones. You'll also find the connection on several Sony high-res music players, the Sony's TA-ZH1ES headphone amp, and the Sennheiser HDV 820 headphone amp. For a more traditional headphone connection, Audio-Technica includes another cable with an unbalanced 3.5mm mini plug.

I just hooked these headphones into my Lotoo Paw Gold Touch using LQI Cables 4.4mm balanced cables. The sound is awesome. I like it even more than the original. I enjoy the way bass, midrange, and treble are represented. I did tweaks with Lotoo's parametric equalizer.
